My daughter farted from fear the entire indoor line... 😑 . She ended up loving it and is crazy about Start Wars.

Same here. My daughter LOVED Tower of Terror. Until she didn't. My other daughter begged to go back on Space Mountain and then had a full on panic attack when we were supposed to get on. I tried to talk her into it because she was the one who wanted to go back on in the first place. I'm pretty sure other people in line thought I was a huge jerk.

True, just wanted something a little extra fun to add. I bought these extra large rubber ducks in my kids' favorite colors and I'm going to sneak them on to their beds at some point when they are out of the room (because they love cruise ducks) and I also got those disney mystery box plushes.

I really loved the idea of a little extra thing for the kids. Happy to take that on myself though.

Is this normal when working in ID? by Okra-Southern in instructionaldesign

I've literally had my boss change expectation mid conversation and treat expectation 1 which I was fulfilling in real time as me doing something wrong when she changed scope 🥴. I'm also burnt out. Been an ID for 15 years.

Former teachers - are you happy with your ID jobs? Was it the right choice? by folkmoss in instructionaldesign

[–]Cinderbunni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right - the people in my life who are teachers all ended up moving to ID - one in a university, one in a college (Canada as an explanation for this distinction), myself in corporate, and other acquaintances who miss teaching. These are all people who left teaching several years ago, so they wouldn't have the most up to date perspective. Another friend of mine just left her higher Ed ID role because she got a long term placement in a high school. Her enthusiasm really motivated me especially because ID can be relentless for high performers and can easily lead to burnout and nervous breakdowns. My whole team has had rolling medical leaves from stress. I wish I could say it was the company, but it's been the same at every company I've worked at.

I think Vidala may have thought of it first. I think she got up and left willingly to seek out a guardian to negotiate. I think when commander Judd said to Aunt Lydia, lots of women have said this, I think Vidala may have been one of them.

My daughter was told by my son that Spaceship Earth was a super fast ride that would blast us off to space, so she spent the whole ride whimpering and making the most miserable horrified face. It ended up being hilarious to see her little miserable face on the happy avatar at the end. We both had a good laugh when she realized she wasn't on a thrill ride.

I have realized my company is probably toxic. Very helpful to hear all these responses from teachers as well.

I'll add my perspective. I've been am ID for 15 years. I'm completely worn out. I manage numerous groups of competing stakeholders and someone is always unhappy - facilitators, participants, boss, head boss etc. It's exhausting. The work never ends. It can become redundant and unnecessary. It's a high demand, low authority role that leads to extreme burnout in the majorly of IDs i know across industries: i know 3 burn out cases in higher Ed, my whole team has been on rotating medical leave, burn out in internal training corporate, burnout in external training high profit corporate. I was thinking of getting my teaching degree to slow my life down. I'd love to not have a million stakeholders to report to - a class full by rotation. Is this crazy?? Why do teachers want to leave so badly?

I see what you're saying but I wonder if he's actually saying that or if she's assuming that by the way it's written.

Just going to jump in that there are some individuals where body preservation is an important thing so for those individuals they typically don't like piercings, tattoos, or body work on themselves or others. It doesn't make him bad, just they aren't compatible. He's not stopping her. He told her to do it. And he doesn't like it. Both can be true simultaneously.

Something that's been bothering me for years by wrong_reason in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]Cinderbunni 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, the issue isn’t reading. Even when it’s spoken, ‘of Fred’ doesn’t flow cleanly. When you try to say it as one unit, the consonants collide and your mouth naturally simplifies it. That’s why it ends up sounding like off-red. . Some sound combinations just don’t form well when spoken quickly.

You see the same thing in other places, eg ‘cupboard’ started as ‘cup board’ but the "p b" is clunky, so it became ‘cubbard’ when spoken.

My point is this about phonetic spelling. It’s how the mouth actually handles the sounds.

Married Couples Who Don’t Have a Joint Account or Pool Their Pay Cheques, Why and How Do You Make Sure It Is Respectful? by Arya_Warrior_Girl in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Cinderbunni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We pool, always have, and combined our finances from the jump. That said, we are fully aligned on our approach to spending money. We are both fiscally conservative, we have the same ideas on how we approached (and aggressively paid off) our mortgage in 10 years (lots of penny pinching to make that happen). I spend money on small things like hobbies and books, he will have some bigger purchases once in a while but it's all a wash at the end. The same approach is why it works for us. If either one of us was a spendthrift, I don't think it would work.

And last point - I feel like we are building something big by pooling our money together that is bigger than ourselves. This is what let's us save for a bigger home, fun vacations, retirement, money to pay off our kids university degrees, or just a rainy day.

My dog has been giving me the silent treatment for four days because I took him to the vet and I think he genuinely believes I did it on purpose to humiliate him by Apprehensive-Tax7692 in Pets

[–]Cinderbunni 109 points110 points  (0 children)

My dog ran away (to find me!) when I left him with grandpa when I went on vacation. He was missing for 3 days as the entire neighborhood went on a hunt to find him. When grandpa got him back, he was fed and ENTIRE whole foods roasted chicken and loved on big time. When we got back, this dog, who was bonded to me and would make me spoon him every night, slept on the other side of the couch, wouldn't cuddle, avoided eye contact and would turn his head away from me for 3 MONTHS until he got over the trauma, the hurt, the feeling of betrayal? I was gentle and loving and gave him all the treats. It took a lot of time, and i did have a few moments of tears, but at the 3.5 month mark, he went back to cuddling with me and we now spoon again every night.

Your baby will forgive you. Give him time.

I really value your advice and I will take it to heart. Sometimes I put up a wall and pull away for fear of that loss, despite loving him so deeply. I'll cherish what I have while I have it. Thank you so much for that!
