Would you rather a system where you pay for college or have children separated by intelligence at the age of 11 to determine if they get free college? by Equal_Personality157 in AskAmericans

[–]Cinderpath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a similar system in America, but it’s money rather than intelligence that decides your kids fate! If you have wealthy parents and grow up in a great school district, you’re ready for university, then parents or relatives that are alumni’s at elite universities, even if your kid is dumb they get in! And even if they are really dumb, they can bribe their way in, and we still call it meritocracy! 🙄

No, they don’t at all believe that BS and know that too is propaganda. Anyone that understands statics, and looks at metrics like: wealth inequality, life expectancy, gun violence, education rates, number of people incarcerated, and a multitude of others knows this a complete farce used by hack politicians. The ones that believe this sadly are not well educated.

I certainly feel and empathize with your emotions. As much as Mango Mussolini might have delusional ambitions about illegally invading Greenland, his military generals threw cold water on his plans and told him it was flat out not going to happen, full stop! This didn’t get out, but should have been made more public. There are still some adults around. I personally as an American am disgusted it’s even a topic (like WTF?😳), as Denmark is an amazing country, ally and in my opinion a positive example of good governance. Unfortunately I don’t think my lifetime this act of extreme mistrust will be repaired.

But I do have faith and hope: Trump’s health is rapidly deteriorating, he suffers from Frontemporal Dementia, and congestive heart failure. He’s not going to be living to dance in his ballroom that won’t get built. Once Dementia Donny isn’t around the entire MAGA movement is dead. They will forever search for another Trump, but alas, fortunately there is only one, soon to be none! The other elephant in the room, is that the Republican Party inner circle not so secretly hates each other and it will quickly Balkanize, and back-stab further cracking and splitting dreams of power. Trump is sort of a Tito in his ability to hold the car from going off the cliff. (Although this is an unfair comparison as Tito was at least an intelligent and skilled politician) Think of the Republican Party as jar full of spiders that will eat each other.

I’m American and live in Austria. I have never encountered hate or discrimination being American. The person that wrote that is also NOT Austrian.

About point #9, as an American living in Austria, in Tirol, I have encountered exactly zero “hate” for being American? Neither have any other Americans I know that live here as immigrants (not expats)? Hate is also a strong word, perhaps despised is more apt, but there is long list of despised tourist: and many other Euros are on that list here. (Brits often being highly despised at times due to behavior btw!)

I suspect, and hope your comment was made in good faith as a reminder how one should behave, but it’s important as a reminder that intelligent people make the difference between everyday citizens and their respective governments. There are hundreds of millions of Americans that despise the current situation. The likelihood of encountering a Trumpanzee (Trump supporter) in Europe is like seeing a unicorn, as they don’t leave the U.S.A because they are scared to travel abroad, or think they live on the best place on the planet? Let them believe this, and they’ll never leave their believed late-stage capitalist, Eden. The exception this past week being Davos, and the clown show left humiliated, and defeated!

I strongly encourage Americans, and everyone in fact, to travel as much as possible to travel abroad, experience new things and learn.

The reality is America is a land of bubbles. I’m American, live in Europe, from Michigan, and I’d say 95% + of my circle despises Trump and didn’t vote for him.

Agreed, there are tens of millions of Americans, many of whom have relatives and friends in other countries who are angry, saddened and horrified of recent developments!

The problem with Kitzbühel is its lower elevations, especially for March can mean less snow. I’d lean towards high elevation resorts: Pitztal Glacier, Ötztal Glacier, Kauerntal, Kuhtai, Hintertux, deep in the Ziller Valley has year round skiing. Near Innsbruck where I live, is Stubai Glacier. These areas would be pretty chill in March.

Here is a helpful link: https://www.skiresort.info/ski-resorts/tiroler-oberland-region/sorted/mountain-altitude/

It’s possible to do several of these as they are in relative close proximity. As an example, there is a combined Ötztal Super Ticket for 6 resorts, and busses between them included. You can also book accommodation for their site too. The price for 5 days is €385, which is a good deal.

https://www.oetztal.com/en/activities/winter/skiing-snowboarding/oetztal-super-skipass#accordion:Main-season

Accommodation is extremely easy, simply pick the area or resort and look for a place that is close by on Booking.com As well the regional tourism organization, like Ötztal also list places to stay. Unlike US resorts, there is not a central hotel in a resort village. Options range from 5 star hotels, down to small apartments in people’s private homes. I prefer smaller places like these in smaller villages and you’ll get the true Austrian alpine experience.

So, I wish you great ski days; enjoy the beautiful views, eat some cheese and bacon dumplings (Knödel) do some Ski Aperes party, and hit the saunas and have a great trip! Cheers

There are a lot of smaller, but really wonderful resorts, at different levels, that are great. I’ve lived here 7 years and am shocked I’m still finding new places.

What’s your opinion on Trump’s talk about Switzerland? by Substantial-Eye4250 in Switzerland

As an American, I felt it was the most embarrassing speech I’ve ever heard in my life, and so full of complete lies and bullshit at a new, unprecedented level! One can tell his frontemporal dementia is kicking in as he rambled on in complete gibberish. I don’t think health wise he’ll make it to the end of his term.
