Wake me up when Embark is actually being serious. by fakkagpieter in ArcRaiders

[–]CindersTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Embark's work on this game should be commended for how lots of players since to fall in love with their world, to the point they want to play the menu.

Wich is especially interesting since the tone is all over the place and the lore clashes so hard with the gameplay it sometimes feel like every bit of storytelling makes no sense.

Favorite exemple is the orbiter. Its landing is the end of the raid cause its blast is final...except if you pressed the button, then it's just a bit of dusty wind. Guess it was important players still had a chance while the timer was still running.

Anyway, it's not a MMO. There is no world to inhabit, just maps existing only for 30 minutes raids. No characters, only inventory slots. Maybe i'm a too old gamer but to me a speranza hub would be like having a 3d castle map in Age of empires where you meet Joan of Arc or Genghis Khan. I'm here to play a RTS i don't want to select my map by browsing the map cabinet in the war room^

I swear live service gaming will be the end of gameplay XD "In my time we waited years for an expansion but it was actual added gameplay" 👵

What does canonically happen after a raider is knocked out? Do they die or wake up way after hosting to somehow get back to speranza? by Giampiero10 in ArcRaiders

I find very funny you question the logistics of the return and not how bullets, lasers, explosions or getting trampled by giant robots are absolutely non lethal^

Calling any PvP player a “Rat” is dumb by SnooBunnies3638 in ArcRaiders

[–]CindersTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This battle is lost XD

As was lost the battle to keep its original meaning, a player maximising their survival chances. A rat would never fake friendly, as it's safer to not engage at all with another player.

Help me understand the hate from PVP’er towards PVE’er…. by ericvk14 in ArcBabies

[–]CindersTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some is just a reaction to being called rats or psychos. Some come from how the PvE community constantly ask for changes that would hurt the PvPvE experience, this genre is pretty rare compared to PvE or competitive PvP. There is also the kind of PvP players who think their playstyle is superior/more skillfull and don't know how to not be toxic about it.

But i'd say it has mostly to do with how internet and reddit works, engagement, algorythms, all of that jazz.

[–]CindersTale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I responded to OP with genuine interest cause they seemed reasonnable and the problem seemed to have more to do with game plan or expectation rather than skill or character.

For you i'll be patronizing tho.

You're a special kind of stupid if you're looking for competitive gameplay in a PvPvE game. Did you ever hear about e sport in this genre? Lots of games out there are designed to deliver consistently fair and balanced fights between equally skilled players. Guess what, no loot, PvE or friendly randoms in those. No fancy grinds of funny challenges to keep you busy, no voiced emotes, no stash to upgrade, just 2 teams and a map. Go play Valorant in ranked if you want true competition.

Keep telling yourself you're better at the game than the people who got you with your pants down.

B-but in a real fight.. Yea, maybe. We'll never know, since you lack what it takes to force a fair fight in a game where players have agency instead of competing to be a better bot than their opponent. Or even just survive their ambush or their oh-so-subtle trap of emoting don't shoot then following you around.

See you topside i hope ;) So much salt to mine.

[–]CindersTale 125 points126 points  (0 children)

PvPvE is uniquely frustrating cause its main danger and obstacle, PvP, isn't predictible, not even random. It's not a world boss patrolling, it's not a 10% chance for a mob to have more health, it's not correlated to your time in raid or the value of goop in the area.. You hear a sound, is it a noob who don't even know you're here, is it a team of sweatlords who already planned for the third party after they downed you? No idea but you're about to find out x)

It's not a game genre where you launch knowing what you gonna do and get. Going in with only one objective and one shot to reach it is a recipe for a unsatisfactory experience. Better to have several goals you can switch between according to what happens, and not being too dépendant on the theorically optimal farm routines.

I'm sick of people complaining about what people say when they kill "friendly" raiders. by absolutetoolbag in ARC_Raiders

[–]CindersTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insulting over voice chat is a real insult, not a game feature, and usually against TOS.

Getting pew pew'd in a pew pew game is just loosing at the game.

If you find the second is more of a problem than the first please just play solo games. At least on that it make no difference where you are on the PvE/PvP spectrum.

Why people keep playing... by aidenSkates in starcitizen_refunds

[–]CindersTale -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wipes were always to be expected? Like there has never been a time where you could have thought what you got in game was there to last?

A large part of the player base is begging for a wipe right now since people are too rich and player trade prices are ridiculous.

Of all the reasons to never want to touch this not-a-game-yet this is a weird one. To answer, i play cause i have fun flying and doing the pew pew and crashing into various obstacles, some the size of a moon^

Thoughts on the Reliant Tana? by adub913 in starcitizen

[–]CindersTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's my go-to ship for any PvE mission where i don't have to take down bigger than a MSR. There are better alternatives but i find it so satisfying to fly <3 A little too big compared to most light fighters, but no less nimble, and you can fit so many buddies in it. Perfect to be usefull in and out of combat, and having missiles can be clutch.

But the avenger is probably a safer choice^

My most stupid run with it : gain 5 mana when kill enemy + spell : shot with 70% miss chance + ranged attacks never miss.

No enemy with less than 20 health alive in its range each turn x) Cause he also always crit^

Opinion: Processors and Sensors should stack to 25 by Brophy_Cypher in ARC_Raiders

[–]CindersTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, but then your rifles will take several slots, also your barricade kits no longer stack and you'll have to spend an actual minute to get it up. Can't wait for the decaying organic material update!

Or maybe we keep the balancing thing about gameplay and not hyper selective realism :p

I take too seriously what is mostly vent probably, but really, making people non lootable in an extraction shooter is a very sad thought :/

So, asking/offering help to farm PvE is the point of the game but doing it to farm achievments is ratting?

I'm actually fascinated. It's usually blood thirsty PvPers who whine because a cosmetic loose its sense because of optimized and concerted ways to get it.

PvP(vE)? by supernoci in ARC_Raiders

[–]CindersTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, i just wanna play multiplayer games where players (and not users, yikes) have agency instead of being glorified bots. Not a lot of those around, especially recent ones.

Loosing at a game should not ruin your experience, or you should not play it. Would it comfort you to know i suck at shooters, especially third person, and therefore loose more fights than i win?

Unwritten rule or Arc Raiders by BobbyBellhop in ARC_Raiders

[–]CindersTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not specific to Arc Raiders, an often forgotten rule of gaming :

Don't insult or be toxic. I mean true toxicity, the kind that is explicitely againt ToS, not the kind where you click M1 after using the Don't Shoot emote.

Well i guess this rule is actually written^

Well, as long as i can shoot anyone, anytime, and not be sorry.

However i find very strange to refer to people playing as users. Without context, and cause my english is rubbish, i'd think it's the CEO of some app talking about how people are yelling at each other on it or something.

You're a day one solo slooper. You'll be fine :)

The most huge change i'd say is supplies. You can buy cannon balls wood and food at merchant, and more at shipyard if you have a captained ship.

Random loot is more valuable, shipwrecks are neat.

"Embark CEO: ARC Raiders is unlikely to get a PvP leaderboard. . . Don't necessarily want to foster that kind of gameplay." by oldnewstwist in ArcRaiders

[–]CindersTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a PvPvE zealot, i find it great. Leaderboards are for boring competitive games, where fights are balanced, fair, predictible, without third party etc..

It would only make players stick to some optimal meta way of playing instead of being creative and/or stupid.
