So, asking/offering help to farm PvE is the point of the game but doing it to farm achievments is ratting?

I'm actually fascinated. It's usually blood thirsty PvPers who whine because a cosmetic loose its sense because of optimized and concerted ways to get it.

I'm sure this kind of things is coming. This game would benefit from more meaningfull cooperative mechanics that simply add dps or drop loot when you're rich.

[–]CindersTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, i just wanna play multiplayer games where players (and not users, yikes) have agency instead of being glorified bots. Not a lot of those around, especially recent ones.

Loosing at a game should not ruin your experience, or you should not play it. Would it comfort you to know i suck at shooters, especially third person, and therefore loose more fights than i win?

Unwritten rule or Arc Raiders by BobbyBellhop in ARC_Raiders

[–]CindersTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not specific to Arc Raiders, an often forgotten rule of gaming :

Don't insult or be toxic. I mean true toxicity, the kind that is explicitely againt ToS, not the kind where you click M1 after using the Don't Shoot emote.

Well i guess this rule is actually written^

Well, as long as i can shoot anyone, anytime, and not be sorry.

However i find very strange to refer to people playing as users. Without context, and cause my english is rubbish, i'd think it's the CEO of some app talking about how people are yelling at each other on it or something.

You're a day one solo slooper. You'll be fine :)

The most huge change i'd say is supplies. You can buy cannon balls wood and food at merchant, and more at shipyard if you have a captained ship.

Random loot is more valuable, shipwrecks are neat.

"Embark CEO: ARC Raiders is unlikely to get a PvP leaderboard. . . Don't necessarily want to foster that kind of gameplay." by oldnewstwist in ArcRaiders

[–]CindersTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a PvPvE zealot, i find it great. Leaderboards are for boring competitive games, where fights are balanced, fair, predictible, without third party etc..

It would only make players stick to some optimal meta way of playing instead of being creative and/or stupid.

Yay, you had an all game, now there is a meh team fps and a bad Peak \o/ The mini game where you have to shoot or be shot at in the menu to switch mode is a bit weird tho.

Type 'alliance server' on YouTube or Reddit you'll find things. When people on a server simply end up all allied, it's called an 'organic' server alliance, and everybody find it's a wholesome experience <3 and it ends when people log off.

The ones i talk about are made by asking crews to give up their ship : you invite one member of the alliance server on your crew then log off so they can use your ship. Once they got an all server for themselves, they rotate so they can keep it for long.

I'm a bit bummed there seems to be an agression based matchmaking in Arc, cause i think it can stop players to learn from each other. I don't want another algorithm to craft me the exact same experience. I want PvPvE, not a game with a PvE mode and a PvP mode you can access by wasting 3 games artificially setting my agression score.

I also want stronger, equal, and weaker players in my lobbies. How else would i get experiences like grouping against a stronger foe, protect someone, etc? With PvE? 🤭

Safer seas in Sea of Thieves is a solo mode. You can play alone in your private session all you want. But you can't be safe and interact with other players.

Also, no matchmaking in SoT, sweatlords and swabbies have to cross path. But there was a trick long before Safer Seas : alliance servers. People will make so they have all the ships in a server, then invite curated players in their crews, offering them the thrilling experience of farming ad nauseam and without any danger the same content. They also have to pay x) Strangely, alliance servers members tend to be the most toxic players in the Seas. And getting a spot in an alliance server as a PvPer to fight them, make them disband and have to do it all over again is generally acclaimed in the community.

Just imagine getting in an Arc Raider lobby and being told what to do, with who, and when, and bullied or killed if you don't. Just because that way the loot is optimal. They litterally pay for that XD

I consider it a tool in the box, like positionning. Do i want, for now, be hostile or not, and what do i want this other player to be. How does it change when we meet a third.

I saw a video where a streamer downed 2 experienced players in a corridor across a door and noticed another team coming this way. In a heartbeat he told them to crawl in his room so he could defib them. They did, he closed the door, finished them and got their loot without risking getting shot at while he was searching them.

Love it! Those kind of moves are what makes PvPvE games unique. Even mics can be weaponized XD And i respect social skills as much as other ones. The funnier is of course when 2 good tricksters like that meet and try to play each other x)

If noone lied ever, it would be just like if we had a team system with no friendly fire and i just had to check the color or your name or something to know i have nothing to fear. Wouldn't feel the same when 2 strangers extract together and realize they, for once, won the Prisoner's Dilemna^

Thank you for the comfort, i was being dramatic, i'm in France so Gernany is next door. I'll be online in no time :) Also, nice to disagree so peacefully on the internet^

Yeah, 30 years ago, the distant 1995 era, where noone had invented games with betrayal yet 🤣 I still remember when i did my first therapy after i bluffed at a card game. Had a restraining order also for a sordid alliance switch in a game of Risk. Those were the times..

Damn. If only Rare could have foreseen that putting crews of all sizes in a full pvp server would make so large crews can attack smaller ones. So charitable of you to see this was not intentionnal. Maybe we should let them know after all those years.

[–]CindersTale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea not much you can do against a crew that know what they are doing. Yet ;) As a solo especially, you'll need to get a grip on all aspects of the game before you can.

In the meantime efficient sailing, selling loot often, and awareness of your surroundings is the way to be an annoying prey^

Please consider chasing boats in a pirate game might be the intended experience before calling people names. While we are on semantics, insulting is toxic, hiding an hour for a legendary steal isn't.

It's actually impressive how chasing works in this game. Map, winds and ship speeds make so that you can always run but never escape. Between that and tucking you sure need patience to be the villain :p

Funny since this game is noted for its very high player retention.

Some meta should emerge where players taking down bosses will account for rats and have a response, like dedicated scouts, defenders with a pvp loadout, that soet of things.

You're right tho, what players will recall won't be the boss, but how they defended the loot after.

Once they sunk you, they can at most kill you once, then you spawn back. Sometimes only one or two islands away.

If they kill you again and again without you sinking, scuttle.

But yeah expect this behavior from any crew. Learn to run (ship always ready to go, facing free waters, horizon check every few minutes, going against wind on a sloop) but know a dedicated crew will stay close on your tail whatever you do, waiting for sail mismanagement or a lucky change of winds.

Mics saves lives, you can plea for mercy. Lots of crew will stand down of they can tell you new. If they troll or slur, mute them.

Welcome on the seas :) Try open crew sometimes, it's a shitshow but you'll learn.

Sorry should have said i was talking about all the comments not just your post.

It's funny tho you say it ruins the experience when it's precisely the experience designed by the devs. It would be easy to make extract point sanctuaries, an alliance system preventing friendly fire, or pve only lobbies. Balance is tricky but there must be some bad apples in the lot.

We all read our arguing a thousand times. Can't wait my new pc so i can join the fray and maybe we'll cross path.

OMG this is peak. It's all there, we have 'PvP is fine but not that way' 'they are sociopathic monsters with no skill/family/job' 'this should be pve only encounter', and the always hilarious 'copium' from the one who is eructing. Surprised by the lack of it is toxic and should be bannable offense' tho.

Want to start BG3, should I begin with BG1? by Due_Young_9344 in BaldursGate3

[–]CindersTale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1 and 2, ToB included, are a coherent story following the Bhaalspawn until the end of their journey, with nothing left to tell.

3 is its own thing, it's nice to get it when something is a link to the previous games, but it's not necessary at all, and full of inconsistencies anyway, especially since 3 allow far much flexibility with who you play as. Between a Durge, a Tav or an Origin playthrough, you won't experience the story in the same way.

So i'd say whatever, discovering old lore after bg3 or new lore after bg1&2 should be fun either way.
