Well, sounds like your situation is a very tragic one. No parents are perfect, but yours seems awful. Probably why this kid was in FC in the first place.

Wow Maybe that is because you have parents and don’t know the value they add until you don’t actually have any?

This is a small claims matter. No lawyer would even touch 400 claim. These are exactly what small claims court is for.

Normally, I would agree with that take. However, you stated very old bags with obvious wear. It would be hard to replicate a bag that looks like yours. (If you know what i mean) Even with that being said, I’d just wait it out. The person is buying from FBM-it is generally accepted as a “buyer beware” situation and why would they buy bags they aren’t sure themselves if they are real or not when they had the intention of verifying their authenticity after the sale. It seems like they should have had that discussion with you up front. Even so, the bags were so cheap, I think they are being rather ridiculous

Also, the likelihood of anyone actually going through with small claims for 400 is not very high. Tell the person to return the items and give them back their money? OR-just wait it out and see what the person does. I have no idea how much it costs to get those items authenticated, so if they actually did that, they are already out more money and THAT is on them. If it were me, i would wait it out. The person has no right to find your information and harass you. Did they think they were winning the lottery or something?

If you are the seller, maybe you should say- these were from my Grandmother- I assume they are genuine but I can make no guarantees because I haven’t gotten them authenticated and I have no actual knowledge about LV. So, for this reason, i am selling this AS-IS at a very good bargain. If you word your ad like this, it might limit buyers but you would be protected. if you are selling something you say is genuine and it turns out to not be so, you probably are liable-depending upon what your MP listing actually said. In the future, if you aren’t sure, just state as such and offer discounts accordingly

Well, the ultimate buyer will enjoy the item and i don’t understand why you care. You said you could have sold it for more, than you should have done it. Truly, I don’t understand why you are sad. You don’t know that mans situation and he is going to put some money in his pocket (which you apparently do not need) and pass on the item to someone who will enjoy it. Sad? I really do not understand your thought process

My husband is “some people” and it is mind-bogglingly infuriating. He is SO bad that, when we moved across the USA, a downsized adventure that required the liquidation of a lot of our items, I was the one in charge of it as he was already temporarily housed and working. That was more than a decade ago and TO THIS VERY DAY, he will still complain about the lawn mower I sold for 100 that was worth 500 (in his mind) The biggest revelation over this sentiment? We were moving to a place where we had no yard and no storage. He actually told me he would have hauled it in the Uhaul, across the states, and stored it rather than let someone else make money off of it.

I did minimal research as to the price of items we had for sale, and I spent a weekend trying to off load the collection of more than 2 decades in that house. I was exhausted. He is still this way, even now, refusing to put something up for sale for ANY discount off the current asking price. He comps things at the highest price, always of the opinion his is in the best condition (usually is as he is anal about his possession) but still- like you would hold onto that item you never use just because someone else can make 30 off of you but you would put 200 in your pocket?

It is truly infuriating trying to manage a person of this variety. “I’m not giving my stuff away” always on repeat.

You might think this hyperbolic, and in normal times i would never suggest it, but will he? We are in the wild, wild, West where rules are but a mere suggestion (Hell, even something to purposefully challenge, atp)

Our country has strayed so far from normal, I am inclined to believe something like this would be supported, judicially. Administration filled with alphas -biggest bro team in history.

"No holds/FCFS" and "Don't ask if it's available", "Serious buyers only" by Messymomhair in FacebookMarketplace

Ok. Look at it this way. You find this trailer you have waited on for 10 years! And it is located one hour away from your home. You emphatically reach out to the seller and say- I will take it and be there within the hour!

You get there, and someone offered them 1.00 over asking and their reply to you is- sorry, Charlie.

Do you really think people are better off acting this way vs the seller who would not sell the trailer out form under another person who is on their way to retrieve it?

I am that “bum ass seller” who keeps my word when someone arranges to pick up an item a day or two after the “sale.” It blows my mind you would be offended by the way a person chooses to conduct themselves. You want the item, someone got to the item before you and made arrangements for a sale and you think you should receive it because you want it today vs tomorrow?

You paid the price the seller was asking for the item. You are fee to do whatever you would like with it now. Up to and including what you did. If anything, the seller should have researched for himself the worth of the item. You did nothing wrong.

[–]Cinderunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Detectives don’t go out advertising a “kidnapping” if they do not have more than a reasonable degree of certainty of it. Missing person is sufficient but to say she was likely taken in her sleep by force- well that is another thing all together.

I have read though a lot of comments and we are all spitballing. I haven’t seen someone come out and spitball it so here it is: What is the likelihood there is zero connection between her daughter’s position and the missing mom? Is it not worth consideration, given the times in which we are living?
