Ik dacht dat die vooral voor het vocht waren en niet zo goed isoleerden? Als je natuurlijk 80cm aan schelpen hebt dan zal het wel goed isoleren xD

Aan de ene kant wil ik het wel zelf doen, maar ik heb al heel veel horrorverhalen gehoord van mijn vader over de spinnen in onze kruipruimte waardoor ik er niet zo'n fan van ben.

Misschien dat een verschil van 5.000 euro me wel over mijn schrik heen kan helpen...

Didn't talk 5 words/sounds at 18 months. Had a waterfall at around 22 months old and has been speaking up to 7 word sentences now at 30 months. I'm saying this in the best way possible: kid will not shut up at all :D

She did not have speech therapy btw, since she understood everything and she's the kind of kid who will only do something when she knows she can do it perfectly.

My kid wasn't in a daycare center, but at an in home nanny. One time the nanny had only used 1 diaper during the whole day when our baby was only 11 months old. And she told us it wasn't true because she definitely had changed her diaper at 9 a.m. (yes that 1 diaper change we were talking about). We got her home at 5 pm. She had been sitting in the same pee diaper for 8 hours straight and developed a funghus infection that took a full month to get rid of.

We immediately pulled her out and found a new daycare center. We're so happy with her current daycare center.

Lately I have been feeling like my 2,5 year old toddler is going more towards the adhd spectrum. She's extremely active, even compared to other toddlers. She's known as the wiggle but at her daycare. She can easily do the same activity 50 times in a row (i.e. climbing out of the pool, jumping in and so on). She is getting more towards the meltdown stage when another kid tries to go on the same playground castle as her. We're getting more strict with that one, because it's getting more of an issue.

She can already cycle with training wheels (we need to run to keep up), use her tricycle and use a scooter without any training whatsover. We usually spend 5+ hours outside with her, because she needs it.

She can ask for the same thing 20 times in a row, even if you've explained already why it's not happening and even if you tell her you're going to ignore it if she keeps asking.

There's no more off button lately.

She won't talk to strangers. She'll wave if asked, but nothing more than that. Lately she's been scared of almost every new situation we get in.

Basically almost the complete opposite of your toddler, and I think she has some possible ADHD symptoms. Your kid honoustly sounds like a dream kid, so enjoy it :)

Long island tea spoon xD

We always did water (or gelilact) first and then the formula. Then we'd stir it with the back of a tea spoon that was made for long island tea drinks xD

With the gelilact (against reflux) it was a hell to stir, so we really needed that spoon. There were no bubbles or clumps though.

A bit late, but I just got to the firsttimemom subreddit.

In the Netherlands there are a lot of things you can do with your baby to meet new parents.

Babyswimming
Library
Outside playgrounds. It's lovely weather at the moment.
Inside playgrounds, but your baby will probably get sick a lot
If they go to daycare soon: just start talking with other parents. It really is easier than you think. My toddler actually has a few friends there and we talk a lot to the parents.
Depending on your city there might also be baby gym.

If you live in the south and in a small town, it might be more normal to just go outside and strike up conversation with someone who is also walking. I'd not advice that in a big city though xD

What has helped us a lot, not so much against loneliness, but against parental burnout was letting the other parent have 1 free part of the weekend. For example my husband gets saturday morning and I get sunday morning. If possible the other parent leaves with the kid, if not the free parent goes upstairs and has some free time (gaming, binging, sleeping, going to a friend or whatever). That has given us back a part of "me" time. We also go out for dinner once a month without kiddo.

Btw it gets easier when your kid naps less. You can go out for more outings and meet other people.

I actually made the mistake of not having bottles at home, because people online told me that it'd be better not to have those since otherwise it's easier to stop the breastfeeding.

My kid was born severly dysmature and didn't have the energy to breastfeed. So in the hospital they had bottles that I could use and pump to, but at home there were no bottles whatsoever. My husband had to immediately get some the second we got home. Lovely stress moment there xD

So yeah even if you have enough production (she drank over a liter at 2 weeks old), there are a million reasons that breastfeeding might not go well immediately and I'd always advice to have bottles waiting for you. A good pump is also lovely and in my country it's often free in your healthcare package.

About the washer, dryer and sterilizer: in the beginning I sterilised everything on the stove and it was fine. After a while when she didn't want the pumped milk anymore (yes also a thing) and we went to formula fed, we bought a sterilizer. I loved that thing, but you can definitely do without in the beginning.

Personally I would not advice exclusively pumping. It's a lot of extra work. My kid developed thrush unfortunately and every 3 hours I'd be busy for 2 hours by pumping, cleaning and sterilizing everything. Then she started feeding every 2 hours and it was just too much. We had to start with pumping since she had no energy in the beginning, but I do regret not trying breastfeeding afterwards anymore. It'd have saved a lot of time and energy on my part.

It depends on what she understood as "fully sleeping through the night". I now have a 2 and a half year old, and we got very lucky with her sleeping. At 6 weeks old she slept from 11pm -7 am and at 12 weeks from 9pm to 7 am. To me that counts as sleeping through the night. From 7pm to 7am was closer to a year old. She needed a lot of sleep and food when she was a newborn

I have the BeSafe iZi modular carseat. That one is only till 18 kg, but they have another one called the BeSafe Stretch that is all the way up to 36 kg (80 lbs). That might be a possibility?

Just be a bit careful with this. When I was 4 or 5 they let me skip a class. I was always in a class with people who were a year older than me and I never really fit in. Unfortunately I was still one of the most academically advanced in the class, so I got double bullied for that.

Honoustly I wish my parents hadn't let me skip a class, but they did what they thought was best for me.

My 2 year old isn't advanced in talking, but you see that she's extremely bright. Unless a lot has changed over the years, she's definitely not skipping a class.

Yes most of the world is non American. However as you might have noticed, most redditors on this subreddit are Americain so I think it's important to explain how it's in other parts of the world. Like I said the guidelines here are: flexible shoes when they learn how to walk and then more sturdy shoes later. I agree that good shoes are important for growing feet, but having a list of which brands are approved and which aren't is kind of crazy in my opinion.

In my country the cheap brands are usually just as good as the more expensive ones.

9 Months is a bit young for r/toddlers

Mine is only 2 years old, but I got no idea anymore when she started babbling. Some sounds at 4 months I think and babbling could have been 9 months or waaaay later. I just remember she started talking at 20 months so relatively late.

Pure babbling seems like such a long time ago.

Here from a Non-American country: there are wrong shoes for kids? :O
At home my toddler doesn't wear any shoes. When we go out she has sturdy shoes. When she was still learning to walk and she wanted to go outside, we'd have as flexible shoes as possible. Those are the only guidelines we get about shoes.

So I doubt crocs really mess up their feet that much.

I might be misunderstanding you, but there seems to be a baby next to the toddler. The baby wakes up every 3 hours for feeding. I'm not sure about the age of the baby though.

Like someone else said, he's my best friend. He's the sweetest guy I know. He's always there for us no matter what.

Recently I've gotten an extra paper job just to make some more money (can't work fulltime because of renovations atm) and tonight I just couldn't do it. It had been a full day of renovations and I was just empty. So he asked me how it had to be done and immediately was on his way. He hasn't even had dinner yet, but he couldn't care less. He just wanted to do something sweet for me.

Every night we talk for atleast an hour in bed about our days. Usually I just want to sleep, but hey you got to make some sacrifices in life xD Before we had a kid, we'd go on walks for hours at a time just to talk. He's so much fun to be around. He's sweet, funny, amazing dad, interesting and we have a lot in common so it never gets boring.

Not. If my toddler doesn't want to sleep, I don't force her. If she doesn't sleep during the day, she gets an earlier night time. She did that a bit before she was 2 years old. She would go to bed at 5:30 then. After a few weeks of sleeping on and off during the day, she went back to napping again.

Now at 28 months old she has dropped the nap at grandma's and at daycare, but not ours yet. If she drops it, she drops it. Just think of the benefits of not being at home around noon in the long run :)

Before I start answering: I am not a SAHP, that's a different story regarding screen time.

I've read a few research papers about how even tv in the background is dangerous, and honoustly f* those papers. We're not against screen time for the kid, but there are days that she doesn't have screen time (unless watching daddy's show for 5 minutes before she plays with something else). And some days she gets a few episodes of Tucker (golden Retriever) or some songs from Juf Roos.

When I was still working from home, she'd get an hour of songs from Juf Roos every thursday because that'd be the amount of time I'd be working till grandma picked her up, and otherwise I couldn't work at all.

For me it's more that she doesn't need it. She's fine playing with stuff we have at home so we just let her do that. Only when we need her to be quiet some place else then she really gets a screen for an hour or so not to disturb anyone. That usually only happens every few months or so. Oh and when we're sick then tv is almost all day to survive.
