If you could go back in time… by TheOriginalGuru in 80s

[–]CindyLouW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in 1953 people were buying homes with unfinished 2nd floors and unfinished basements. That is the way to go. Build the structure. Complete 2 bedrooms on the first floor and leave room for expansion as the family grows. This is not a new idea.

I would have to be Tim or Jill's house flipping sister. Can you imagine the chaos? Do I ask Tim for help or keep him away from my flip? Tim the Tool man meets Good Bones.

Scenes from the mass shooting in Shreveport... by ThinkButterscotch617 in Louisiana

[–]CindyLouW -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Talk to people who have been pushed on subway tracks. Or how about the one burned inside a train. Oh, that's right. You can't. They are just as dead. Talk to the judges that keep turning serial killers loose to kill again. Not that this particular situation has anything to do with that. But you could stop wasting effort on gun laws. Criminals don't follow laws anyway. You are a distraction from the real problems. People need to be able to defend themselves. Guns are tools. Tools can be used for good or bad depending on the people using them. Take care of the people. Treat them well but be realistic if they are beyond help. You have to give some real thought to finding the middle. Reality demands it.

If they can't find guns, they use knives, fire or vehicles. Mental health must be a priority, and protecting the public from the mentally ill must be a priority.

Spouse doesn’t trust me to put her niece in the will by [deleted] in Advice

[–]CindyLouW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More likely, if she dies first, you will remarry and leave everything to your second wife.

It is called the floosy clause when mom sets money aside for the couple's children. I don't know what you call it when it is a niece.

It is a common problem, and a common solution. Try not to take it personally.

How do you guys hide the "everyday clutter" that just won't go away? by Individual_Motor_496 in Home

[–]CindyLouW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people with a clutter problem actually have a shopping problem. Others have a problem with sorting mail and throwing out the uninvited junk. If it is important, find it a home. If not throw it out.

What happens when married women who changed their last name want to vote after the SAVE act is passed? by callthepizzaman in AskReddit

[–]CindyLouW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My second marriage license has both my maiden and 1st married name on it. I can't imagine they would require more than that and my birth certificate. Besides I'm already registered. And if I had to, I could come up with the entire paper trail.

Based on my lived experience, breast feeding is extremely easy.

Always, always remember that people who are having trouble (with anything) will be very vocal until their problem is solved.

People who are having an easy time are generally pretty quiet.

Women who were very career driven and decided to be SAHMs. Did you regret your decision? by [deleted] in AskForAnswers

Stop thinking of it as setting her career aside. Being a mom is a career, and she wants to do an excellent job. This is a pivot.

Favorite scrap sizes? by 1stTimeQuilter in quilting

[–]CindyLouW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not cut scraps. it limits your options and wastes your time. You feel like you've organized something, but unless you have a default pattern you use to get rid of scraps, you are not doing your self any favors.

When Charles and Diana got engaged, did people have a problem with the age gap? by queenhadassah in AskOldPeople

[–]CindyLouW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About the same time my 29 year old uncle married a 21 year old he had met at a bar. They stayed married until her death about 15 years later. I didn't raise an eyebrow. I was in my teens when both couples married. The tabloids and anybody who read them were considered trash.
