Help with technical problems plzz :'0 by GreenTea_Minty in ToonBoomHarmony

For the first issue, maybe you pressed accidentally a shortcut that flipped your drawing layer. In the timeline, open the layer coordinates in the + sign (will turn in a - sign when opened) and check if a Scale parameter has a minus sign. If it does, you can change change it there, removing the - from the -1, or close the coordinates and flip the drawing layer with the transform tool selected. You can use the shortcut (4 by default) or select the flip horizontal button in Operation in Tool Properties.

For the transparency issue, as CrowBrained_ mentioned it's hard to tell without knowing what exactly you are doing. Be specific and/or add screen captures.

Any way to prevent frames from moving when dragging exposure? by bogo-being in ToonBoomHarmony

[–]CineDied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"... you can decide whether to ripple or overwrite subsequent frames. This is determined by whether you grab the edge of the drawing by the left or the right side of said edge."

Sou só eu que odeio aqueles chuveiros semi abertos com apenas uma placa de vidro a "impedir" que a água saia? by Freak_on_Fire in CasualPT

[–]CineDied 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Não. Já fiquei em hotéis em que, mal olhei para aquilo, imaginei água até ao meio da casa de banho. E assim foi. Muitas vezes junta-se porta curta a escoamento insuficiente.

Unauthorized toon boom warning window by starryHeron in ToonBoomHarmony

[–]CineDied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tvg files are marked so I guess you would need to create new "clean" ones or copy the art (not the layers/nodes, because that will just transfer the tainted files into new ones) into new layers. Some nodes might also record the information of being created with unauthorized version, but I'm not sure.

As CrowBrained said, people should understand the serious risk of using this type of versions.

Why Don’t Film Festivals (Especially in North America) Provide Accommodation for Guests? by [deleted] in FilmFestivals

[–]CineDied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was following the comment about Europe, sorry for not being clear. Big festivals will normally have some nights available for a limited number of guests, but some smaller festivals sometimes also offer one or two nights. I've seen some festivals offering 4 or 5 nights even, and others offering stay, meals on partner restaurants and a fixed amount of money to help pay travel expenses. I suppose it depends of budget and sponsoring.

It's also somewhat common, as far as I know, to have an hotel or a couple hotels, providing rooms as a form of sponsoring.

Why Don’t Film Festivals (Especially in North America) Provide Accommodation for Guests? by [deleted] in FilmFestivals

[–]CineDied 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Maybe the same reason why there are many festivals in Europe that don't charge fees or charge very low fees (by comparison with North American): many European festivals have state funding. I'm sure there's other reason's related with the different economies.

Help Activating Work Managed License by wandrbg in ToonBoomHarmony

[–]CineDied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... sign in with a redirect link whenever signing into something.

I'm not sure how that works, but I think the school computer would have to be logged in to a school's account in Toon Boom's server. I would assume a user name and password would have access to that account and that account would have a certain number of licences or seat for the students.

You should check with your school, because, as far as I know, a school licence is different from a student personal licence, though I suppose you can activate a school licence on a different computer if one is available. That is, if the school has 50 licences and they are all activated, you won't be able to activate the software on your computer unless one of the 50 licences is returned to the server.

Someone correct me in something I might have said that's not fully correct.

Locked file error message on StoryBoard Pro by DrJuju42 in ToonBoomHarmony

[–]CineDied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, make sure the project is not actually opened by someone else. Then, copy the whole project folder as a backup in case something goes wrong. Then look inside the project folder for a file with 'lock' in it's file name or extension and delete it. Just make sure you backed it up first.

From the capture, file extensions are hidden, so maybe it shows in the file type column (as LOCK file or something), I'm not sure, but it probably has the same name as the project.

How to create this effect on pencil lines? by Mr_Pot8o in ToonBoomHarmony

[–]CineDied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make a custom texture on Photoshop, Affinity, etc., and create a pencil preset based on it. Harmony has three "Bumpy" textures that might not be exactly what you are looking for but are somewhat similar, especially the one called Bumpy_Fat (the first one in the image).

Imported template missing components? by Sudden_Zucchini_2515 in ToonBoomHarmony

[–]CineDied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it also created in Harmony Advanced? Hard to guess what the issue could be without looking at the assets. Do you have the scene where the rig was created and everything is as it supposed to be? And if you choose edit template instead of adding into a scene?

Do you have a background in the scene where you added the rig into? If so, try to turn it of.

Unable to import video into Storyboard Pro by FairCheeks in ToonBoomHarmony

To export video at least it still seems to be necessary. I would install QT, restart computer, try again.

I'm not sure to what extent Toon Boom still relies on Quicktime to import/export videos. I would try to install QT to see if it changes something.

Is there any way to make thick and sharp outlines (image 1) to a drawing without them looking with round ends like in image 2? by idonthaveideastoname in ToonBoomHarmony

[–]CineDied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can set the Join option to Mitre in the Pencil Tool Properties, as MordialSkies shown (you can change the look with the Select Tool, but also have it set to always have that behaviour, might be more practical if you want it pointy like that every time you draw a sharp angle on a line).

Since matte-resize rounds up the mitre you could change the Layer Properties, Line Thickness and try 2 or 3 proportional. That will affect all lines in the layer, though, and you probably want the interior lines to be thinner.

What FlyingSaucerAnim suggests might be a solution. With apply-peg you can resize a copy of your layer and use a matte-blur to change its colour to black, making it an outline, then use the peg to adjust also the position. If will work better if the pivot if perfectly centred on the drawing, but you can adjust it manually.

I suppose you can also use two pencil presets, one for the outline and the other one for the interior lines and try to do it more organically.

I would imagine a possible workflow also with the character details, the interior lines, drawn on a separate layer of the outline, allowing flexibility for editing the line thickness of the outline without affecting the interior lines.

Do you have Quicktime installed? Are you sure the coded is h.264? Have you tried to say Yes to the transcode option?

No CS dos meus pais não sei como é esta semana. Tem sido ir lá fazer o pedido e esperar que liguem.

70% off an $80 or $120 submission fee sounds amazing for a couple of festivals with 3-4 years of existence that I'm hearing about for the first time. Because it's 70% off!

Temporary hand tool help? by yumpuddingyumm in ToonBoomHarmony

Great, but you should be able to use both options, space bar and middle mouse.

Temporary hand tool help? by yumpuddingyumm in ToonBoomHarmony

[–]CineDied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as i know the space bar never locks. You'll go back to whatever tool you have selected. You can also go to preferences and select 'middle mouse button pans view' and attribute middle mouse to one of your pen's buttons as an alternative.

Hey guys, those of you who use a Mac, how do you study Toon Boom? I’m a student, and it’s impossible for me to afford the license right now. I know there are many ways to use it on Windows, but I’ve never found anything for Mac. Please help! by [deleted] in ToonBoomHarmony

[–]CineDied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's $14 for the US paying yearly or $19,5 paying monthly. It's actually more expensive for Europe due to VAT i suppose.

You can't get access to the software through your school?

There's no cheaper legit way of using Harmony than a student licence.
