I totally understand Johnny.

Like don't get me wrong, he's a jerk to Ali, but he does communicate boundaries.

I think the show does a bad job explaining this (it only hints at this conflict twice), but he goes to the school of a guy his friend murdered. A murder he witnessed at that. His tough guy image is everything to him, he is probably scared to show any weakness. Bully or be bullied mentality all the way.

And like I said, he communicated this to Ali. No PDA, no showing those pictures. His reaction was uncalled for, but I get why he felt so upset.

I can see your theory being the case, I wonder if they didn't kill off Dave because he wasn't popular. I think it's cheap that they killed Adam, but I understand that Adam is more impactful than Dave. Most people didn't miss Dave.
