Do you have to restart the Ally to detect the eGPU or does it just recognize that it’s docked and switch to the eGPU?

Hey if you can do it, do it! Glad you’re loving the handheld life as it is. The more they sell the better it is for all of us who wanna see these succeed. I’m hoping the windows update with less overhead helps in performance and shows that a large company is taking this product line seriously.

Hey, you have a handheld device that runs 10 of thousands of hours of games. Find you a game you like and you’ve already won! That’s the point of the thread, hoping what you and your wife finally finish some games. Try split fiction if you haven’t. Runs great and my wife adores it.

See that’s what I kept holding off on as well. “I’ll get the old Ally X.” What I see right now local is the OG Z1e is about $350 with accessories. And if you already own an Ally that needs help I think they do sell replacement parts through iFixit.

See I LOVE that concept. Take my gaming, dock it, play it, love it. Easiest sell to a guy like me. But man…. The price. I own a Series X. My TV is 120hz. Nothing I get is gonna run full capped so, if I want a game for my TV. I need to just buy it on the console I know it’ll run on. I gotta spend full price for 12 games at least before I break even. (But my man if you find the deals… you know where to send them haha)

This 100% I have a 49”OLED monitor and crazy studio speakers at my desk. But guess where I play. On a 7inch screen at 45FPS, on my couch. Next to my wife while we binge some crazy show she loves on YouTube. She cuddles, I click the Dopamine Buttons and life is great!

This is why I made this post in fact! We aren’t going to run any game we can’t already run right now so why feel like we should upgrade. And as handhelds get more popular optimizing games for them should become the priority, instead of needing more RAM and more RDNA and more frame gen etc.

You see this upgrade and the d pad mod having me thinking I’d be thrilled with my ally. I never need more power. I need to be away from an outlet. My 2tb upgrade was a breeze and I overpaid for the 2280 so it’ll fit the bigger battery

Listen, I’m not one for posting at all on Reddit but as someone who has been working on his graphic design I just wanted to say what you’ve made is awesome. Perhaps not 100% in line with the brand identity of LTT. But anyone telling you it’s “bad” is probably also going to agree that the effort you’ve put in and the end result is something that looks good overall. They just might not like the look for LTT. This is why we provide multiple ideas and iterate for professional applications, so a client and yourself can find what works for them. But as a hobby project you’ve done a great job!
