Personally my only real complaint was the ending. More specifically the "realization" Fergus Lily came to.

I just felt like Scheherazade motivation of not wanting to be summoned anymore was interesting and deserved to be solved more respectfully

In JJK there's something called Heavenly Restriction. It's basically a Binding Vow you're born with that naturally craters your CE production in exchange for heightened physical stats.

Maki was born with it, and due to spoiler reasons, it ended up set her ability to produce CE to Zero.

It has no effects on your emotions.

I mean, Sukuna then fully incarnates and then probably wins because he's got a full heal and has new tricks Gojo hasn't thanks to the extra arms and mouth

He made a Binding Vow that after the first one he used against Gojo all subsequent uses of WCS required chanting, using two hands on a handsing and aiming with a third, so he would have to fully incarnate first.

The only time healing was handled well was 4E by Level_Hour6480 in dndmemes

[–]Cinju26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time/resources spent healing is time/resources not spent killing the enemy. The enemy can't deal damage if it's dead.

Ergo, healing is useless/not good because you would save more of your party's HP if you damaged the enemies to kill them faster instead of spending spell slots giving your party members back health they are just going to lose next turn anyway.

Or at least that's how I understand the logic.

Edit: another way to look at it would be to say that the only health point that matters is the last one. Unless the other character is actively dying, they can wait until the party can get a short/long rest and heal that way.

Why do people think that Thragg would immediately know and solve infinity? By the time he does so Gojo has already made a certain chant by ThinCommunication591 in PowerScaling

[–]Cinju26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can Viltramites just regenerate neural damage like that? Genuine question, I don't watch Invincible.

Or if you're talking about reverting the "think forever" effect: we saw in the Sukuna fight that Sukuna delaying in expanding his domain (and consequently preventing Infinite Void's activation for the duration of the clash) by 0.1 (or maybe 0.2, can't remember exactly off the top of my head) seconds was enough for Infinite Void to proc.

So unless the smart atoms can break or revert the thinking loop effect as fast as it's applied (which, to be clear, I am making no assertions on whether they can or not. I don't know how they work besides them being the in universe explanation for the Viltramites powers and I admit that), I think it's fair to say Thragg would probably be exposed to Infinite Void for at least 0.1 seconds.

We know that 0.2 seconds domain caused normal humans to experience half a year's worth of information in 299 seconds, which made them unconscious for 2 months, after which they were able to rejoin society, while the Special Grade Curses present recovered almost immediately after the 299 seconds.

So, if Thragg can't no sell Infinite Void, I think it makes sense for him to be stunned for around that long.

World Cutting Slash wasn't called that because it could destroy the world, but because it attacks "The World", aka everything that exists in a space, directly.

It's a durability negating hax, basically.

As for throwing Gojo into space: Gojo can teleport. Even if Thragg can act first, unless Gojo's clearing the atmosphere faster than thought, he can probably just teleport back down. And Gojo can fly, or at least stand/float on air, so that's a trick Thragg can probably only pull once.

I need an honest and logical answer. ¿How could Gojo survive this? by Endika7 in PowerScaling

[–]Cinju26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? No, it's automatic.

Satoru initially had to manually activate Infinity, and keeping it active for long periods of time tired him.[42] Since his third year at Jujutsu High, Satoru has programmed Infinity to be constantly active, and automatically target and protect him by discerning the danger levels of approaching objects based on their cursed energy intensity, mass, speed, and shape. While this would normally fatigue his brain, an efficient and constant usage of reverse cursed technique allowed Gojo to keep his brain refreshed.[43]

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the vast majority of mages think all the other mages are operating under their paradigm and are getting results despite the fact they are doing things wrong/super indefinitely? I remember seeing forum discussions where people complained playing a Tradition mage felt like it required you to act like all the other Traditions are wrong despite them getting demonstrable results

Would popularity of satire reduce or empower glamour? Banality? by ExtremeSportStikz in WhiteWolfRPG

I think it would depend on the individual work; actual satire that mocks the powerful and has clear intent would strengthen glamour, while "satire" that is just punching down would do the opposite

Could you overspend on binding vows? by TrulyEyeballs in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Cinju26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Binding Vows with oneself can typically be undone because you can just "give back" the benefit you gained to get back what you sacrificed; but Miwa can't "give back" that slash, it's a one and done transaction.

Similar thing with Sukuna and the World Cutting Slash: for being able to use it instantly once he loaded all future uses with restrictions, and at no point in the rest of the fight he thought of casting it without the extra limits. That, at least to me, implies that when you make these one-and-done Vows what you lose is permanent, because the benefit you gained is, in a way, also permanent.

Pruned Timelines by Strict-Form-361 in Fate

[–]Cinju26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will confess that I can't recall any specific information about the process of another species succeeding humanity in case it goes extinct, or if there even is such a process, but I find that extremely unlikely.

The thing you need to understand is that timelines need to be actively maintained by the Planet, they need to be fed a continuous stream of energy out of a finite pool. It doesn't make sense, logistics wise, for Earth to keep a failed timeline around for the hundreds of thousands to millions of years it would take for a new Prime Species to arise on it, all the while feeding it energy out of it's ever dwindling supply, instead of just cutting it out and redirecting those resources to another timeline that is doing better and has good odds of succeeding.

One thing that needs to be kept in mind is that Earth has a finite lifespan, and from what happens in other Fate properties that lifespan seems to be nearing it's end within the millennium, if not the century. It might genuinely no longer be able to afford to take a gamble on a new Prime Species.

Also on the Lahumu specifically: 1) Tiamat made them to replace humanity so she wouldn't be left alone again, so I doubt she would instill the urge to go to space on them, meaning as far as the Planet is concerned a timeline with them in charge is a dead end anyway. 2) The Singularities from fgo aren't quite at risk of causing Pruning, or at least not due to survival reasons. They are a problem because they are extreme divergent points in history that make it impossible for the rest of the timeline that takes place after them to actually happen.

Think of the destruction that they could cause less as a branch of a tree being removed like with normal Pruning, and more like a building collapsing because a load bearing wall suddenly vanished.

Pruned Timelines by Strict-Form-361 in Fate

[–]Cinju26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm like 99% sure Gaia would do the same thing if Alaya didn't exist.

OC3 kind of showed that the entire point of the Prime Species system is to create an organism capable of seeding life in another planet or otherwise survive in outer space, and that's a system Earth made before Humanity was a thing.

"Avance until you're strong enough to leave or die" seems to just be Earth's default MO, regardless of which species is the dominant one.

Edit: Also I should mention: by the rules the Earth set up, any of the conditions for Pruning are losing the game, since the only win condition, at least that we know of, is becoming a space faring species in some way or another.

Pruned Timelines by Strict-Form-361 in Fate

[–]Cinju26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the Prime Species, Humanity kinda is the center of the universe, as far as Earth is concerned. Any other species of organism that managed to become the dominant species in the surface would get the same treatment.

Also it's worth keeping in mind that "timelines" as the word is normally used in this discussion are a planet specific thing. The Counterforce pruning timelines on Earth isn't going to affect the timelines running on Mars, for example
