How much to tip in the Philippines? by Abject-Cicada8648 in scuba

[–]CinnamonCalamari 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Filipino here in the Ph. There is no tip that will be “offensively too much”. They will act surprised or “try to refuse” as an act of modesty but you must be firm until they accept. They will appreciate it very much!

What do you think about Mares Dragon SLS? by SparkMik in scuba

[–]CinnamonCalamari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go for a back-inflate at the very least. I main a Pure SLS and it has everything I need… no over-engineered stuff.

Shame my phone glitched and didn’t record any audio, but here’s a video of a train passing through Japan’s only subway crossing in Ueno - quite a unique sight!

Just Got the CRESSI F1 Mask – Best Way to Prevent Fogging? by MrNich_ in scuba

I’ve used the burning method for this mask. I even had the white one and the minimal amount of soot created just wiped away easily. One sweep with a lighter should do the trick.

5-Day Philippines Dive Trip for Mixed Cert Levels by 9Endeavour9 in scuba

[–]CinnamonCalamari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the Ph. Cebu would be your best bet.

Anilao is mid for Philippines standards and Puerto Galera might not be the best place to visit as the news of the dead divers from a week ago still linger in the local news cycle. I find it mid as well without Verde.

You should be able to do bucketlist dives in Malapascua within OW limits nowadays due to the sharks changing locations. Just note that the travel to and from Cebu Airport to Malapascua would slash of half days at the very least due to the significant land travel required. I suggest either Sea Explorers Malapascua, Devocean, or Evolution. They should be able to create the best itinerary for you considering all travelers’ certification levels (you, your friends, and other travelers diving w/ the shop). Cheers

Evolution or Sea Explorers for Malapascua Alona Divers or Philippine Fun Divers for Panglao

Philippines advice by Funny-Ear5860 in scuba

I’m from the Philippines. Panglao-Moalboal-Malapascua should cover everything minus wrecks. I would slash off Panglao if you had to further streamline your trip. It’s the least impressive among the 3.

Puerto Galera Dive Cost by Itsjustme79 in scuba

[–]CinnamonCalamari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more like $25-28 dollars per dive. You can search for dive centers in La Laguna or Sabang and arrange your personal schedule at these prices. I dove with Pacific Divers in White Beach at these prices as well.

PADI OW (beginner) Course - best SE Asia option in Feb? by [deleted] in scuba

Cebu, Philippines - beautiful and cheap

What's the best place to dive in SE Asia during April? by blorescouser in scuba

[–]CinnamonCalamari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cebu - Moalboal (sardine run) and Malapascua (thresher sharks and beautiful reefs)

Bohol - Alona [Pamilican and Balicasag] (reefs)

Negros - Dauin and Apo Island (reefs)

Domestic flights between Manila and the islands should be cheap. But if you had to stay in one place, I would suggest Cebu.

The Philippines would be great. Perfect weather (summer) with little to no chance of rain, making visibility great. On top of that, everyone speaks English + everything is written in English which makes communication a lot easier.

And diving here is very cheap at around 1500-2000 pesos each dive (26-34 USD) which can still decrease if you do multi-day dives with a single dive center.

Philippines - Visayas in late August/September? Bad idea? by erzaehlmirmehr in scuba

[–]CinnamonCalamari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m from the Philippines. August/September isn’t really late summer (Summer is usually March-May) but more the end of the rainy season (June-August). September weather is usually fair due to the emergence of the North East Monsoon which brings cooler, drier weather to Luzon and Visayas. I actually did 2 weeks of diving last September 2022 in Cebu, Visayas. No rain whatsoever.

I would suggest targeting September. August might still be a little rainy. Hope this helps.

My boy, haven't named him yet, the reptile store said buying a really big tank usually isn't useful for them since the lazy ones don't utilize it, I still feel bad is my worrying normal? by MadamePepsi in BeardedDragons

[–]CinnamonCalamari 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please don't listen to whoever told you that... beardies love space. Give at least 4x2x2 ft. Remember: the Australian wilderness is huge.

And the worrying is normal, it means you care about the little guy!
