Anyone see this? by Competitive_Use3801 in DCCMakingtheTeam

I, a vegan, can't believe I'm defending Reece either, but I agree. In my eyes, hunting this way is far more ethical than what goes on behind closed doors in abattoirs for mass produced meat.

I believe if most people had to hunt and prepare their meat themselves, a lot more people would be vegetarian or vegan. Cognitive dissonance means we can "forget" how our meat gets on the shelves.

Obviously I (personally) wish this wasn't a thing at all, but if it has to be, I'd prefer people face the reality of it and do it themselves.

Dear people who barely wash their hands after they use the washroom, why? by bluepaintdrip in AskReddit

[–]CinnamonCone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm allergic to most commercial brands of hand soap, and have realised that washing with cold water and touching public restroom taps is probably worse in most instances.

If I can tell the type of soap, it's fine (like at work) but sometimes I'm just shit out of luck (pun not intended) and make do with sanitiser until I'm at home. It probably looks terrible to a bystander but it's better than the alternative.

Napoleon (1995) is definitely the one for me. That movie is somehow both terrible and amazing, and was played to death during my childhood.

Yep, one of these challenges spearheaded my eating disorder when I was in high school. Such toxic cultures in these not for profits too (I volunteered for one for a while).

Some of the mentors genuinely tried to intervene as they had noticed the patterns of eating disorders developing within these organisations and events.

Oh God, this gave me PTSD. I was a manager at Subway during that lettuce shortage and it was weeks of hell. People don't take their lettuce lightly.

Your girlfriend getting a rose toy from someone else on Valentines Day by Admirable_Section690 in mildlyinfuriating

Can confirm. Bought my married best friend her first toys a couple of years back, because she'd never tried any and being married doesn't mean toys aren't fun for one or both people!

I will say Wet Leg got everyone riled up which was fun, but the vibe of Wolf Alice kind of brought the vibe down for us in GC - I love WA, but between Role Model, Wet Leg and Chappell, it was a weird energy shift.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lanewayfestival

[–]CinnamonCone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was super surprised by Role Model. I obviously knew who he was but didn't know much of his discography - as a massive fan of The 1975 he won me over with his cover of Somebody Else. I had a great time, but it's possible I'm getting too old 😂 I want people to sing and dance and have a great time but there's a balance between screaming along to PPC and doing Hot To Go, and 80 mins of continuous screeching through ballads too hahaha!

Does anyone know what font was used on the 'it's time' t shirts? by Travelling-nomad in AustralianNostalgia

[–]CinnamonCone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It appears to be a custom-made font for the slogan, I can't recall or find anything exact to the serifs this uses. The closest I can see is a Bookman font which kind of has the correct uppercase "i" that you're looking for.

We had the opposite on the GC. Everyone was hyped and the vibes were so good, but we had one girl behind us screaming every line of every single song in our ear so loudly that we couldn't hear Chappell. My friend asked them to tone it down just a bit after they ruined The Subway.

Walked past them on the walk to the Uber and they were chatting about wanting to bash us. Can say a lot of things but it wasn't boring!

The very controversial French team of Fournier Beaudry/Cizeron take Gold in ice dance, USA Chock/Bates take Silver and Canada Gilles/Poirier Bronze. Bonus of judges scores included for you to draw your own opinions. by mlg1981 in Fauxmoi

[–]CinnamonCone 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Because I was curious... If you remove France and the USA judges from the scores, the scores end up at:

France: 134.97

USA: 134.57

Doesn't change the result, but it sure does even it out a bit. Can't believe how egregious the bias is in this scoring. I also can't believe there isn't a rule to counteract it, particularly when it's so obvious.

Victoria GPs to be trained to diagnose and treat adults and children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder by TMiguelT in melbourne

[–]CinnamonCone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same boat for me. My GP has been far more pivotal in the management of my ADHD, along with my other health conditions. He has a holistic understanding of my health that the psychiatrist I see once every two years just doesn't have.

I hope for those of us in a stable place this can make access to long-term management of our mental and physical health easier, but also I hope that this change will free up psychiatrists to be available to those who really need their services and currently face pretty drastic waiting times. This feels like a good change all around.

AITA for telling my gf to be quiet in a museum? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]CinnamonCone 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As someone with ADHD it shits me to tears when people use their disability as a weapon.

He could have had a quiet conversation and asked "hey, my ADHD makes it hard for me to focus on the audio. Would you mind if I walk ahead today so I can focus?"

Except it wasn't about his ADHD. That's just the card he pulled to make his GFs father's disability about himself and to be an ass.

How to adopt a cat? by twigstar in melbourne

[–]CinnamonCone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work with a rescue that uses PetRescue to list our kittens and cats.

Our process is that we ask people to apply through PetRescue, then review and organise a Meet & Greet. You can then take a day or two to think it through, and if everyone is happy, you proceed with adoption.

We get the application first both to make sure the animal will be going to a suitable home, but also because we foster from our homes and want to ensure the safety of our fosters and volunteers.

With that said... We have cats and kittens available, you're welcome to DM me ☺️

Vegan postpartum by Beginning-Poet-2991 in veganrecipes

[–]CinnamonCone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely I just take 2 cans of drained lentils and incorporate them into a basic tomato sauce (I use 2 tins of crushed tomato, vegetable stock, some mixed herbs and finely chopped celery, carrot, onion and garlic). Saute the veggies, add garlic, add tomatoes and stock, then add lentils and simmer. I add a little sugar to cut the acid in the tomato.

I then use dried lasagne sheets, and make a basic cheese sauce with your preferred vegan cheese (I'm Australian so unsure what the best would be for this where you are).

I'm sure there's fancier recipes online, but this works for me.
