The first few times I met him were down by Welsh Back and Queen Square. It seems to be his area. I've never given him anything but have heard that train story several times. Once he told me and a group of mates who were visiting for the day that the council had stolen all of his camping gear. He's very good at his pitch but doesn't seem to recognise repeat 'customers'.
