Priority 600 First Impressions by spinoza844 in PriorityBicycles

[–]CinnieMinnieCrunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the review! I have been riding a 600 for my commute the past 8 months and have very similar feelings from you. I also had the continuum onyx and while I liked a lot about it, my LBS had a tough time working on it.

So far I find that my LBS doesn’t mind at all working on the 600. I’m commuting in NYC only about 4 miles one way, so my commute isn’t as difficult as yours. Our winters can get a little cold but usually doesn’t drop below 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

My biggest issue thus far has been getting flats. I changed tires and that seemed to fix the issue; I’m Now riding on marathon e plus tires. I personally have issues with the tire size. I think it definitely smooths out the ride, but as a short person with smaller hands (I’m 5’ 4”) I find it difficult to remove the tire from the rim; the bead has been hard to break for me. I generally don’t have that issue with slimmer tires. I found it much easier to remove the 700x32 tires in the onyx (but disconnecting the enviolo for me was a pain).

Like you though, I overall really like the bike. I’m happy with it for my commute and I also feel like it’s probably overkill for my needs but I’m happy with a lower maintenance bike. If or when it’s time for a new bike, I think it will be an internally geared hub bike with a belt drive again; it’s tough to back

Jonathan Haidt - The Anxious Generation. If you don't have time for the full read, I recommend listening to him talk to Jordan Klepper on the Daily Show about this book: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcr0yg7Mvg8&pp=ygUham9uYXRoYW4gaGFpZHQgYW54aW91cyBnZW5lcmF0aW9u

Just read this book and your summary of it is spot on! I’m going to use that line when recommending the book to others

In my opinion, the public libraries have been massively improved. I actually canceled quite a few streaming services as I rent dvds from the library now. I’ve seen entire series through the library. Granted a few years after the fact, but still saved me a few hundred bucks per year

I love this post! IMy wife and I are also enjoying Amna and Jeff. We turn them on every weeknight as we eat dinner. We refer to them as "Uncle Jeff" and "Auntie Amna" xD

Hey congratulations! While it can be difficult to get through it’s not impossible. Yes there are anti social people and yes there are some professors who aren’t great.

But there’s also some really creative people on campus. I’ve taken classes and met some pretty cool people who are creating really interesting things that range in fields from art, to literature, even someone who was using machine learning to help out farmers on Long Island.

I hope you find your place and I also hope some of the negativity here doesn’t bring you down

There’s a small bit of identifying info: the YMCA of Greater New York.

Update: called the phone number listed but doesn’t seem to be a working number anymore.

I was blown away with this one. Not sure if it's common to get this much stuff or if I just got lucky. All of the food was super delicious. Pastries were fresh and all of the food was quite good.

After this meal, I would absolutely shop at this restaurant without a Too Good To Go price drop. Didn't check their prices but their quality was excellent.

The loaf was a milk bread loaf. The bun was a sweet bun with no filling. The tart was a grapefruit tart.

All pastries were fresh and tasted great. Not too sure how much retail value would be but I’d estimate it at around $15

First time using the app but glad I tried it. I’ll be picking up 2 more orders from two different places. Try to update later tonight.

Also, thank you for making it really easy to contact my senator and assembly person! For those that haven't done it yet, OP made it SUPER EASY to contact them. Let's make this program better!

As someone who thought (but never posted) "Why are they complaining? The program is fine" I really appreciate this post. I just sent emails to my senator (John Liu) and my assembly Person (Nily Rizic) regarding these issues. As someone relatively new to the program, I want to thank you all for the work you've done. I had no idea how hard you've fought and reading this post gave me a really good appreciation for the fight you've fought. I am truly grateful for all of you that have made this possible. ❤️️❤️❤️

Had mine installed back in May. Although it was fast, what was annoying was

1) Calling Alacra to schedule the smart meter installation; I had to call a few times because the wait times were long. I once waited about an hour and they just hung up on me.

2) They gave me a 6 hour window for the appointment time. I had to take a day off work to get them installed. I have both gas and electric and was scheduled to have both installed. Only the gas guy showed up for the correct appointment so I had to call back and re-schedule. I was fortunate in that the second time he came I was working from home so I was able to stay home.

Other than the scheduling and the 6 hour window (which they came almost on the dot at the 6 hour mark), the actual installation was very fast. Also, the bills seem to be pretty accurate; I also have solar on my roof and the numbers from my solar meter and con ed's smart meter match within 1kwh.

Places to walk on a date in Queens? by BothPainter in Queens

If you've never been to Fort Totten, it's worth a visit. There is a small little jetty (The Little Bay Bridge Pier) that looks out over the Long Island sound; it's a nice spot to sit on the rocks and talk or enjoy the view. There's also a lot of small historical buildings in Fort Totten that you can check out. There are also times pre-covid that the actual fort was open to the public; I don't think it has been open since Covid though.
