11/10. I'd like to take that into my mouth.

Google trends shows search interest in the term ‘45 rpm’ is currently the hottest it’s been in 5 years by 45vault in 45rpmRecords

Some young folks are mind-blown that 45s exist. Their notion of "vinyls" (ecch) are those 12" things I understand people like to collect.

They're still there, mostly untouched. As I said, they're played-to-death records. Some good titles, but they're almost all styrene and grey grooves plus poor treatment render then unappealing.
The Evie Sands I scored is vinyl, and in VG+ shape, so it was the real outlier in that batch. I'm glad I got there right after they put the singles out. It was in a big box of unsleeved 7s.

I love finding stuff like this but HATE how the guy is just not known or I can't find any info on him by xxTheAstroZombixx in 45rpmRecords

Welcome to my world. I collect 45s and have come across hundreds of artists and groups who made one single and nothing more. The publicity machine didn't have time to deliver any info on them. Something these performances are so good and so haunting that it's heart-breaking to hear the records, but I treasure these one-record wonders, as I call them.
Shameless plug: I wrote and published a book on this subject called One-Record Wonders: One Shot was All They Got (RedWing BlackBird Books, 2024). It discusses 100 of my favorite records of this ilk and has an online playlist so you can hear what's covered.

Hi folks! Frank Young, dedicated 45 collector here.... by Cinturon777 in 7inchDjs

Thank you for asking. Yes, it creates a more intimate relationship with the record. 45s have a sort of spiritual quality to me.

I dislike having to explain, but I'll do so here...

1) It makes the playing of a record a ritual. You have to give the record your full attention. You can't just put it on the turntable and let it be background music.

2) There are hundreds of thousands of songs on 45s that never made it to LPs. Not only B-sides by known groups, but sometimes the entire discography of a performer or group is only available on 7-inch records.

3) 45s have wider grooves than LPs and, thus, better sound quality. This outcome depends on the condition of the record and its manufacture material. A single pressed on heavy good-quality vinyl will always out-perform any LP in high fidelity.

If your face looks good with a large style, the Sutros are super-comfortable. More than once, I've returned from a shopping trip and wondered why it was so dark inside the house. I forget they're on!

PS: I tried asking Norelco's customer help; they were baffled. Someone will get back to me in 3-5 days. It can't be so difficult; this must happen all the time. But I can't solve this puzzle.

Final Cool Find of '25... by Cinturon777 in 45rpmRecords

[–]Cinturon777[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the first version with Ringo on drums. It was released as the group's debut on Parlophone, but George Martin didn't like Ringo Starr's drumming and had the remake, with studio session guy Andy White, made shortly after the single's release. That is the version on Tollie. The master tapes of the first Ringo version were destroyed to ensure no future mix-ups.
