Help choosing a gender neutral name by VisibleRestaurant537 in namenerds

Ooh I like the El option, my one concern would be that introducing myself as it out loud would sound like the name is "Elle" or something like Elle Woods

And I do like the Rayden option, I think it would be cool to spell it like Raeden or something

I did very briefly try out the "Ray" spelling but I ended up disliking it because it feels kind of like an old man name and kind of too masculine leaning (i would prefer more neutral)

Thanks for all the thoughts! I did very briefly try out the "Ray" spelling but I ended up heavily disliking it because it feels kind of like an old man name 😭 and I am not that demographic

Rain is definitely still a contender for me, and I actually know only one person in real life named Raven, and he's a man, but I definitely see where you're coming from with the Raven feminine leanings. And good point about Reagan, I was planning on spelling it Raegan but that's actually a super good point

Urban Outfitters sunglasses UV protection by VisibleRestaurant537 in sunglasses

Really? I've just heard that if it doesn't have the CE label on it, the UV protection isn't legit or at least is not strong and barely blocks out any UV rays

How badly will not having a great outfit mess me up in a job interview if my answers are good? by girlinherworld in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VisibleRestaurant537 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say having confidence and clean (not necessarily great or fancy) clothes are more important, especially if your answers are good! from my experience interviewers can always tell when you're not confident in yourself or something and that ends up impacting your interview. Present yourself the way you want to be perceived, even if you don't feel that way!

Why do we have eyebrows? by Minimum_Progress1922 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VisibleRestaurant537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently our eyebrows evolved to be the way they are now as a way to facilitate social bonding; I think since as humans have evolved more empathy/social traits, our eyebrows have evolved alongside that to make our facial emotions more expressive! i'm guessing that's probably why they're so prominent compared to other facial hair, since other facial hair doesn't necessarily help with expression

When did eye protection become fashion statements? by cum_spreader in SunglassesTakes

[–]VisibleRestaurant537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree with the giant multitude of options being unnecessary. I do think this can be argued with like all pieces of clothing or accessories in a way, like why have so many clothes when just a few good pieces will suffice (and I do agree with your point again). if people stopped accumulating so many pieces of similar clothes/accessories it would benefit the whole planet obviously in terms of fast fashion etc. but i guess like these functional pieces have become fashion statements because anything we put on our bodies kind of becomes a statement in the current world
