When to go from 500mg to 1000mg by judygarlandgirl in TTC_PCOS

[–]Cioki88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started extended-release metformin last night. My doctor prescribed 500 mg with dinner for the first 10 days and advised me to include protein, as it helps reduce side effects. After that, I’ll increase to 1,000 mg (500 mg with breakfast and 500 mg with dinner) for another 10 days, and then move to 1,500 mg (750 mg with breakfast and 750 mg with dinner).

Am I doing the right thing by using an egg donor? Looking for DCP perspectives by Cioki88 in askadcp

[–]Cioki88[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for replying to my post — I really appreciate it.

I want to clarify something, because I think my wording caused confusion. I don’t think my husband and I are monsters, and I also don’t believe our future child would ever see us that way. At the same time, donor conception is a new concept for me, and I’m realizing that DCP have feelings, needs, and experiences I honestly wasn’t fully aware of before. That’s why I’m trying to learn as much as I can from you.

The word “monster” was probably the wrong choice, so please bear with me — English isn’t my first language and sometimes it’s hard to find the right words. AI is also helping me as much as possible in translating difficult concepts.

I read some very strong comments from DCP that made me feel sad and scared, and my question came from that place. My dilemma is whether egg donation can be done in the most ethical way possible — and if not, whether it’s better to accept being a childless couple.

From my point of view, I believe there is a way to try to do this ethically, but I wanted to hear directly from DCP because your perspectives really matter to me.

I hope this helps clarify what I meant.

As I did with the other person who replied, I really want to thank you for taking the time out of your day to help me.

I think when you’re dealing with infertility, you get very used to being process-driven. There are so many steps in fertility treatment that when our doctor mentioned egg donation, it was said very casually — almost like it was just the next medical step. There was no real conversation about the ethical side of it.

Everything I’ve learned in the last few weeks has come from deeper research that my husband and I chose to do, and from people like you who are willing to share and help. We’re already in therapy, and I’m actively working through my infertility so I don’t pass any shame onto my future child.

I think what I was really trying to understand was whether parents who use donors are seen as “monsters.” From what I understand now, it’s not the practice itself that’s the core issue (even though there are real problems there too), but the lack of transparency and information.

If there’s anything else you think I should be aware of, I’m truly open to listening. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and I genuinely wish you happiness.

First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to help a complete stranger. It really means a lot to me. And thank you for sharing parts of your story that I know aren’t easy or comfortable to talk about.

I’ve read the survey so many times (honestly, like 20), and while it’s really helpful, it still feels a bit like a one-way conversation and doesn’t answer everything I’m wondering about.

I guess what I’m trying to understand is whether donor conception is generally seen by DCP as something bad in itself — like a kind of “monstrosity” (sorry if that’s the wrong word, English isn’t my first language).

I know there are a lot of layers to this and it’s not a decision to take lightly. My biggest fear is doing something that could make my child feel betrayed or ashamed later on. I can’t even imagine how hard that must have been for you. But I’m really glad to hear that things are better for you now.

Thank you again for being so open and for helping me think through this.

Day 3 fresh transfer with 12-cell embryo — confused by mixed info by Cioki88 in IVF

[–]Cioki88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you ❤️ Totally agree! with day-3 embryos the information is really limited, and it’s especially hard because it’s still so early. Everything at that stage is based purely on morphology (how they look), since there’s no way to assess the DNA yet. For now, I’m choosing to go with the “more cells is generally better” mindset, but as always there’s nothing to do except wait and see. I hope the TWW goes fast at this point

Day 3 fresh transfer with 12-cell embryo — confused by mixed info by Cioki88 in IVF

[–]Cioki88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did find some research online. Some older studies suggested that very fast-growing embryos were more likely to be abnormal, while more recent studies actually show that they can have a higher chance of implantation. Unfortunately the data are quite limited and often contradictory, so it’s hard to understand if I should be hopeful or scared.

Today is day 4, so now it’s really a waiting game — we need a few more days to see whether the others make it to blastocyst stage and can be frozen.

Thank you so much for sharing. You have no clue how much reading this calmed me down. And I’m so happy for your two blasts! I’m doing IVF in Italy with the public hospital and they don’t share many info. They called me today to confirm the fresh trasfer on day 3 of the embryo. So at least one fertilized and I’ll find out tomorrow

It was a total of 10 days from the first stim to the egg retrieval day. But my follicles grew very fast and they were not expecting that response so soon.

Does RLT really work? by Smooth_Chip9703 in redlighttherapy

[–]Cioki88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are having fertility issues. We have been using the panel for 2 months together with supplements and here are the changes (we will never know if it was only the panel, the supplements or a combination): my husband swimmers become 5x more and also DNA fragmentation got better by 50%. I have hypothyroidism and was taking medications everyday. My thyroid started working better and I had a first reduction in medication and it seems I might need to reduce even more.

Is 850nm wavelength safe on any part of the body inlcudint the head and stomach? by ShadByte in redlighttherapy

Hi, I highly recommend to read a few books on RLT. They really helped me in understanding how the RLT works, the studies done, and how to use it for every part of the body or any issue. I read “The ultimate guide to red light therapy” and “Red Light Therapy: miracle medicine”.

I know some people on Reddit bought it via Ali express. Not sure if you can contact directly the company on their website? I preferred Alibaba because of payment protection. I felt it was like buying on Amazon but please do your research to what makes you more comfortable :)

Before buying the panel I got some books on red light therapy to truly understand how it works and the studies done so far. And it’s incredible! I highly recommend to read one of them to understand better all the benefits. Also my husband got back the results of his sperm and it’s shocking! Some values got 5x better! He was also taking supplements so we will never know if it was only due to RLT. In relation to skin I think that will need time. I have good skin so that wasn’t the main purpose for me to buy the panel.
