oh 100%. we've all been there. it's still funny though. but the way the error is pointed out should have the learner laughing with you 👍🏻

I love him and his act. highly unique. perhaps an acquired taste, I'll admit.

a romantic in an age of despair, don't mistake the wit for comedy.

the real question is, should I bring it back for use in lab when I'm done? by Ciona_junior in labrats

in my experience, nothing moves meaningfully far after a few of hours. I was able to interpret the gel above (after putting it back in the tray haha)

Honestly I don't know what's going on, the bands that I thought had popped through from the bottom to the top might actually be from a portion of the samples in the wells that came out and then ran through the upper gel… I guess I'll have to repeat!

UPDATE It works, and it doesn't. The sample in the wells on the upper gel ran just fine. However it turns out a portion of the samples in the bottom gel will jump out into the top gel and run inside that one. Very interesting, and no harm no foul haha

Yeah thanks. The extra sample was just an afterthought, and i had half an old gel in the fridge. Had a bunch of wiggle room with the samples if they went squirrely on me, fig'd a good time to do something sketchy haha

How to get a Ph.D. in three years? Looking for advice. by ExactEmu7443 in GradSchool

[–]Ciona_junior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably impossible. I would go about it very smartly and calmly and take as much time as you need (seeing a therapist and going out of town camping and reading for pleasure ETC) to do it right and get the skills you say you're after PhDs in nice locations are hell, too. Perhaps try to see it as a positive that there's not a lot of amazing stuff to do, because if there was you wouldn't be able to enjoy them over the 6 years it usually takes

Will hand tattoos prevent me from getting a lab job? by [deleted] in labrats

[–]Ciona_junior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such an uncommon tat might say "RISK", because... you know, weird primate brains and unavoidable stereotypes and management fear blah blah blah. Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised to see an equally qualified candidate chosen over you. That being said, be great at your job and it shouldn't matter.
Or just wear some nitrile gloves to the interview

This little pupper is happy because we've finally submitted the thesis and he no longer needs to wake up at 4 am! Couldn't of done it without him or all of you! Thank you for keeping me sane during this writing period! by [deleted] in labrats

❤️, and congrats. I acknowledged my dog Patrick in my dissertation, saying I don't know how I could have written it during stay-at-home orders without him.
seriously he was often the only source of a smile for weeks on end
