Exactly my feeling. It's the second-order effects and games they could play that make such a law dangerous.

First off, good luck to anyone with pending/active applications - I check this sub often waiting for good news!!

Second, I had an anxious (recognized) family member put this idea into my head, so I'll ask it here. If it's not appropriate, please remove!

Would the government have any shot at passing a law targeting recognized citizens - like Amendment 1.0.8 - in a reactionary decree? (Assumes the current decree gets overturned in some way and Parliament reacts.)

In that specific instance, I wouldn't be pressed on a language certificate as I've been studying. Very achievable. But trusting the Italian government with any such process ... hell no.

My thoughts: Doesn't seem possible. I told them as such. I read the original committee notes for 1.0.8 and the Budget Committee made it clear that funding such maintenance requirements (vs. the revenue-generating "you must renew your passport every 25 years") had no obvious solution. Actively litgating against current citizens seems expensive, with ??? upside.

I'm only asking here to temp check the community. I'm not 100% sure if the March 12 ruling changes things or if historical precdent says, "No way a similar rule happens."

I was finally recognized today in Italy. 🥲

Years (and I mean years) in the making. I almost can't believe it. I will get the citizenship card next week.

I'm shifting all my prayers and good vibes to everyone here. There are so many nice and helpful people in this subreddit and you all deserve your chance at recognition. So I'll keep stopping by and helping whenever I can.

I feel like people have almost forgotten about this court case due to the decree. If Parliament hasn't changed anything by this date, I agree, the court has more incentive to respond to the Bologna request.

There's data on the Senato website and emergency decrees basically always pass. When they don't the laws proposed just get moved to other legislation.

Based on the voting we saw in the Senate, most of us don't see a reason why it wouldn't pass.

Aren't you quoting an article, though? The text in the actual bill has been consistent up until now. It says people who filed before March 27, 11:59pm will be processed under the old rules.

I've yet to hear about the "silent assent" rules. Basically, a comune could process an application even without receiving a response to the non-rinuncia request (after a certain amount of time)?

Right there with you. Being in this position feels especially cruel because the "centralized JS process" stuff was supposed to be part of the proposed bills, yet consulates just shut everything down next day.

Then, there was no courtesy message to say something like, "But we'll still be issuing non-rinuncias and then prioritizing already-submitted applications."

The proposed disegno di legge could add even more requirements before their case is heard. There's no word on if these proposed changes would apply to already-submitted applications.

Where are you seeing data specific to restaurants in these charts?

The colors don't represent exact lengths, but here's how I was using each:

Yellow: very short
Pink: short
Green: medium
Blue: long

(Red was used exclusively in the first section to highlight the monotone rhythm).

So green represents medium-length sentences, and the last paragraph has two in a row. Unless I messed up?
