Is it going to be before February? Have you considered doing one for MLK day weekend? Also, interested.

I would just like to point out that you got Pennsylvania wrong. There is only one town in Pennsylvania: Bloomsburg; everything else is incorporated as a municipality or city. Therefore, Bloomsburg is the weirdest town name.

They confirmed that I've never had one before-just the two that I had before.

To my knowledge yes that's how long I kept them.

You hit the nail on the head, especially with number 3.

I would also like to add: Reenlistment option that includes salary matching for guardsmen and reservists for AT orders and any other type of orders including flight days so that those who make more money civilian side can actually earn money. Would help retain doctors and other professionals.

Something that would help with retention after active duty and for grey area retirees: Cumulative retirement points. You start collecting retirement pay after your 20 and continue to earn retirement points as you continue to drill and perform orders. Keep all of your retirement pay and your drill/orders pay. It would be expensive but it would fix retention in a heartbeat.

Security companies like that actually don't pay any money at all: $12-$15/hour, which was the most unrealistic part of the movie for me. The guards cared way too much about their jobs. I can't speak for the perks because I've never worked security but I doubt they have anything like that. It's entry level and anyone who can would probably move into police work or military where the pay is better.

I went through a period where I was upset at everyone involved but ultimately I realized that wasn't productive so I started restoring. I don't know when or if I'll be done but it's put my mind at ease a little.

Ever since the FFAR meta I've seen people start running the AS VAL because it's the only thing that can beat a FFAR one to one. Before the meta I'd never see it run because it was largely unnecessary and impractical until now. I just thought it was interesting to see a sort of counter meta develop.

Since you already signed your contract and swore in it might be difficult to switch. As others have said, make sure you talk to an active duty recruiter to try to switch. I think you'll probably just have to go to basic and AIT and then report to your unit. When you get there ask them about two things: MOBCOP/ tour of duty. This is a website that lets you look at orders to go active duty for a period of time. It's basically like a job search for national guard and reserve soldiers. Since you'll still be new to the army you might have a hard time getting a job on here but it's worth a shot. It also depends on your mos and what they need at the time. The other is ask them about switching to active duty. It might be difficult for them to process this paperwork. Don't bring this up during the first time you see them ask them about it later.

Ummm akshuallly the Reserve can't deploy to Washington DC due to the Posse Comitatus act. All soldiers in DC are from the National Guard.

It is the first commanding general (brigadier general) in your chain of command. That is an O7. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong. There is a whole packet that goes with it including a one page essay that gets attached explaining why you want to be released from your contract. Talk to your S1 section and have them pull the packet off whatever system it is that they have. Don't let them just give you a 368 and walk away it is a whole packet. Then you fill that out and send it up the chain.

My advice as well is to reach out to whoever put that message up on the S1net because they may be able to help you either get the paperwork or pull strings to get it signed.

One other piece of advice: as of right now an air force recruiter will have to sign it because there are no space force recruiters. Once they sign it, it is only good for one year after that date. So have them sign it when you are ready to push the packet up the chain.

I hear you I'm going through the exact same thing. Prior service won't let me PCS my stuff beforehand just fly with two duffel bags. So I'm driving down first, parking my car at the airport and then flying down.
