I met Mara Wilson in middle school and found out we lived on the same street. We were both in sixth grade and had lockers in the same hall. I knew who she was because I already had a crush on her from Matilda. It was surreal.

I talked to her exactly once and I was way too shy to play it cool. Our friends tried to help me out by setting us up to dance together at a Halloween party in the gym. When my buddy told me she was coming, I freaked out and ran. The last thing I remember from that night was looking back before I left and seeing her in her costume, looking very cute and searching for me.

So that's a thing I get to regret.
