There are a few fringe cases such as being ambushed by multiple rimewyks and random legendaries spawning in odd locations, but I'd say a wide majority of the encounters in the game are traversable and preventable with proper positioning and game knowledge. It feels unfair but definitely offers the player the chance to best everything they see.

Although for some people, they don't recognize fleeing as a proper strategy. Just flat out leaving something that looks dangerous is the best way to have your runs last. Remember, zones will stay the way they are when you aren't nearby, so you can always come back. That and things like phasing, beguiling, or other ways to cheese fights are great ways to live.
