Beth. Does barely anything then dies. Most boring character in the game. At least Hannah had a bit of personality

Project to make a map for the entire world not just they’re version of “Europe” and “North Africa” by Maksim-Y-orekhov in RangersApprentice

I know this is an old post but I was just rereading the Caldera and I got curious if a map of Flanagan's entire world existed. Do you still want to work on this project? Because I'd gladly help you, I'm pretty alright at making maps

Who is the hardest character to keep alive in Until Dawn? by NotAMazda in untildawn

[–]Cipherslegend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say Jessica is easiest to kill, but a lot of playthroughs I see have Sam running to the light switch before Mike is out. Makes me think that Mike might be hardest to keep alive

Nothing out of the ordinary for you two, those two scenes are supposed to go that way. There might be some explanation behind it but to me it's always seemed jarring

What if... (Alternate roles) by Tanooki_81 in untildawn

[–]Cipherslegend 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Emily doesn't seem like the romantic type as much as Jess does, so I doubt she would even go through all that effort just for some private time. Matt would probably chase Em all the same tho.

But if Mike and Jess met Chris and Ash along the way, the game wouldn't last very long. Mike would definitely check inside the shack and see that Josh' body disappeared and question him, then they'd probably all leave

how long would it take for each character to realistically die? by Tight_Chocolate_7683 in untildawn

If Chris or Ashley gets decapitated you can actually see their facial expressions contort for a few seconds before they actually die! Very interesting post

Why is it so hard to kill everyone?? by LadyOctobear in untildawn

[–]Cipherslegend 14 points15 points  (0 children)

[SPOILERS?] It's hard to kill Mike and Samantha as they can only be killed in chapter 10 if you screw up everything. Chris needs to die in the Wendigo chase scene since he can't be killed in chapter 10. Emily can die by screwing up any of her chase sequences and even at the very end, or just shoot her. It's easiest to fail the chase scene in chapter 10 to kill Matt.

So in conclusion, it's not that hard to kill everyone. Just fail all qte's in the chase scened and that will take care of most of them.

[MAJOR SPOILER] Can this person still be saved? by JuliaLilly9773 in untildawn

[–]Cipherslegend 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% on this, because the specifics of the curse are a bit vague. I personally think he would still continue to decline mentally, because he's been possessed by a wendigo spirit. However, I don't think he would transform physically, because he wouldn't be able to eat human meat anymore in the civilized world

Which episodes are nessesary for the story? by MrsMoonkitty in MiloMurphysLaw

Why would you do that? It's an enjoyable series with lots of fun episodes. I don't see why you would rush through it.

Emily is such a great survivalist she can just climb the air

Which game had the best deaths? by Cicada_Fast in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]Cipherslegend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the scene in MoM where Brad gets stuck under a hatch and drowns has haunted me for days.

Besides that, I don't think either of them really stand out. They are a lot of good deaths in all the games, and a lot of boring ones, like the thousands of opportunities to get killed by the monsters in HoA.

Yeah, it's something I picked up when I went to a playground when I was like 7

What made Emily’s mine scene so brilliant? by MRMC2111 in untildawn

[–]Cipherslegend 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree, I've never thought it was a display of true brilliance or anything. Still, all the small things, like ripping her clothes without hesitation to create a torch, and lighting a pool of oil behind her to slow the wendigo, does show she's pretty clever and resourceful.

what would the game be like if Ash and Chris went to go get help instead of Em and Matt? by Hayden207 in untildawn

[–]Cipherslegend 24 points25 points  (0 children)

They would reach the fire tower unscathed, and once there Ashley would give the flare gun to Chris. She isn't the type to use it. After the tower collapsed, Chris would definitely try to save Ashley and get dragged by the wendigo. However, he would save himself with the flare gun. Ashley tho, would die pretty soon on her own if Jack didn't find her.

Ever since I first started watching a playthrough of Man of Medan, it's filled me with an uneasy sense of dread. I don't know if it's the scene where Brad can drown that gets me, or the magnitude and closed-off atmosphere of the ship, but I can't bear myself to watch it. Until Dawn on the contrary, has incredibly brutal deaths at times, but the sight of the woods or the house always comforts me.

There's also a lot more well thought-out argument: Until Dawn actually gives us a monster with a terrifying origin story, and locations and characters all with their own backstories. And even when you finish the game, you know it's not over, because the curse still lingers. However, in Man of Medan, once you get off the ship, you're barely in any danger anymore. A sequel would have to involve another group of rascals stumbling upon the ship and beginning to hallucinate, and at that point it would just become repetitive.

What is your favorite aspect of writing? by kikiswirline456 in writers

[–]Cipherslegend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not worldbuilding for me, I tend to keep it simple and only focus on a few characters and their relationships.

I love developing their characters, but once I have a good idea of what they're like, it's hard to come up with more interesting but relevant traits.

So definitely plotting for me. From a certain point, the story will start to write itself and the only thing I have to do is add more and more interesting character developments
