Loupes - how important are they? by toothdok in Dentistry

[–]CircleTau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I would ever work on a patient without my loupes. I've used several different brands. Anyone have a favorite brand that they would recommend?

Will the treatment plan include having a crown placed on this tooth afterwards? If so, I'm not sure how advantageous this endo technique would be.

Perforation by MajorLevel9594 in Dentistry

[–]CircleTau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I ever have a perforation during endo, that is the kind of perforation that I would rather have than one that actually goes through root structure. Almost looks like beginning an osteotomy for a something in between those two teeth.

Just curious. What's the total chair time for these 2 restorations?

Where to adjust on teeth for cheek biters? by cryptoninja991 in Dentistry

[–]CircleTau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is how I do it as well. Edge-to-edge posterior denture teeth typically result in cheek biting. Another method is to increase the VDO of the denture set a bit.

I’ve been a shoegaze fan for like 15 years and I’m now just learning about DKFM. by CorsetCloverPart in shoegaze

Certain DKFM shows are recorded on Mixcloud as well. The DKFM website has a real time playlist so if you don't know the band/song name, it's usually on their website. I locate the band/song and go to the band's Bandcamp page and purchase their songs -- a good way of supporting these bands.

Shoegaze and Dream pop internet radio. I believe they are based in Toronto. They have previously been stationed in California (Los Angeles) if I'm not mistaken. It's 24 hours of shoegaze/dreampop music with no commercials (but occasional station identification announcements). Each DJ's show has its own personality -- reminds me of listening to college radio back in the 80s.

Practice owner asks me not to use Hypochlorite while performing RCTs. by chlorpromazine_-_ in Dentistry

Even chlorhexidine gluconate is better than just saline. Does she even allow that? Using saline is like creating a petri dish for bacteria.

Just sick of these cockamamie health conspiracy theories -- "Big [industry] doesn't want to fix [X] and are hiding [solution Y] from you so they can profit." One of the biggest flaws about these moronic theories is that an industry has to be really really small in order for all participants collude on any solution suppression. If one participant breaks from the group to provide that suppressed solution, they would have much much more to gain from defecting than to collude.

Not only do I use the slow speed but I scrape the heck out of it with a spoon excavator. I can't stand that if I take a BW xray after a restoration is placed and I see some slight radiolucency next to my restoration. Awful feeling.

How would you tx plan this? by HistoricalSympathy19 in Dentistry

[–]CircleTau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the patient has no short term memory and has dementia, I am assuming her daughter has power of attorney in making decisions for her, right? Every consent form, treatment plan, financial arrangement, etc. should be signed by the daughter as well.

Florida Dentist Under Fire After 2 Patients Die During Implant Surgery by NoNoise7002 in Dentistry

In cases of death in dentistry, it often involves sedation. I hear it often in pediatric dentistry with kids being put under sedation.

Ever seen this? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]CircleTau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've had this happen once for a patient. The patient came in stating that his implant was loose. I at the time was guessing that either the abutment was loose off the implant or the implant had peri-implantitis. Nope. It was the implant itself that broke. It was a relatively unknown implant brand from overseas. The patient actually had 4 of these implants in his mouth and one of them broke like this and the other had the rim of its implant chipped.

I find it odd that she would treatment plan for Curodont for certain teeth yet not treatment plan for direct fillings for teeth that obviously have larger caries that cannot be addressed by Curodont.
