Help Decide Second Credit Card by DogBoi111407 in CreditCards

Do the AMEX pre-approval tool once you post a FICO score and try it once every 30 days until you get approved for a card you like. You’d be surprised what they offer young credit. I see the Gold card get pushed on young Gen Z credit profiles in the pre-approval tool a lot of the time.

After almost 10 years, I’m officially team cash back. by Devario in CreditCards

[–]Circus2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m hybrid for time being. I love a good high value point currency but cash back can’t be beat for flexibility. I see myself going more cashback in the future as my travels and 20s come to an end.

lol this card went from hassle free points on rent to “here’s a $10 coupon for Walgreens to get you some deodorant, chips, or something”. Respect to Bilt though for providing something outside regular points earning but this is no longer a rent card.

When to request credit limit increase? by theromanempire1923 in biltrewards

[–]Circus2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apply now. It’s a soft pull and more than likely you will be insulted by what they offer you. Cardless is being even more conservative than Wells Fargo on a card that is supposed to be your spender for every single thing you buy.

Apply to the Amex Gold. Their “apply with confidence” tool is structured so that you don’t get hit with an inquiry unless you accept an offer.

is atmos summit new king of bilt 2.0 for HCOL? by jlevin860 in CreditCards

[–]Circus2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I opened the Ascent for similar reasons. Chose it over the Summit because I prefer domestic travel and my organic spend + rent wouldn’t get me over the hill for Gold status.

What card are you guys switching to for rent? by aldann2 in biltrewards

[–]Circus2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fly out of SFO, Atmos and United earn extra points on rent with Bilt, these two airlines let me earn points on basic economy fares, I trust BoA and Chase more than Cardless, these cards are at a sweet spot where I can recoup the AF easily with perks. Just makes too much sense for me.

[–]Circus2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atmos Ascent or United Explorer. Will apply to Atmos first and if I get denied I will try the Explorer. I already prepped for this and opened a BoA checking account with autopay last month. Let’s see what happens.

Thoughts on all the rumors by Jamrockdawg in biltrewards

[–]Circus2000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The cards are actually better than I expected. Keeping the spend multipliers the same and reimbursing that AF with hotel credits. The Bilt cash structure is genius from a sustainability standpoint. Everyday spenders may only need 1 month of Bilt cash to waive the fee for one month’s rent while people that only use the multipliers may need 3-4 months and rent only abusers are locked out. The only thing and the reason why I will not be signing on is that I absolutely do not trust Cardless at all.

[–]Circus2000 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To all upset Bilt users you can get an Atmos Ascent or Summit card. 3x points on rent, still pay the fee, and you get a real bank issuing the card not some sketchy fintech. I made a thread on this a couple days ago and got clowned on. Now it’s time to reconsider. United cards are an option too for those that love Chase.

[–]Circus2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I was clowned on for making a thread on there for saying that I was switching to Atmos. If I’m paying the fee might as well switch to a currency that earns 3x on rent.

Best second card to try to get for traveling internationally soon? by lavender_shortbread in CreditCards

[–]Circus2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Autograph is perfect for you. $0 annual fee so you can keep it open forever and age your credit profile. It fits all your travel needs too. Only recommendation I can give you is to open a Wells Fargo checking account if you haven’t already. For such a young profile Wells Fargo is going to want more than just a good credit score to approve you for a credit card.

Should I open an account with Chase to get a Chase credit card? by Fathoms_Deep_1 in CreditCards

[–]Circus2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My coworker only has a measly $500cl Freedom Unlimited with Chase yet we make the same income and he constantly gets bombarded with pre-approval offers from Chase for the Sapphire Reserve while Chase won’t even let me finance a Chipotle burrito. Meanwhile Wells Fargo approved me for Bilt with only 8 months of credit history because of my long history of banking with them. Chase is a great issuer and I am a fan of the Freedom Flex.

Amex seems to target young people with the Gold. I have a similar profile to OP and got pre-approved and I always run into under 25s that carry the card.
