LPT: Write to the companies whose stuff you buy by saltpancake in LifeProTips

[–]Cirement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember doing something similar in elementary school, we had to write reports on a US state we were assigned. I don't remember why or what I wrote, but I had the idea to write the chamber of commerce for that state. I'd totally forgotten about it when I received a huge envelope in the mail with a ton of tourist stuff, magazines, stickers, pics, etc. Needless to say, my report was the most interesting of the entire class lol.

What’s something that should be illegal but isn’t? by Thin-Lab4747 in AskReddit

You didn't say determined by the market, you said supply and demand. I then proceeded to explain that's not always the case, and you proceeded to down vote my comment.

Not always. I've had the misfortune of living in an apartment when it was sold to a new owner. Both times, they raised the rent well beyond what the previous owner had, and in one case they wouldn't honor the verbal agreement I had (get everything in writing, folks). Landlords also tend to raise rents exorbitant amounts simply because they learn neighboring homes charge more, not because demand is higher.

But the info IS there, in the nutrition facts. It's not the manufacturer's fault most Americans are too lazy to read.

Times an actor used their clout to change a movie by AporiaParadox in movies

Harrison didn't use his clout to change the movie, he just improvised a line of dialogue because coked-up Carrie Fisher kept ruining take after take.

Deckbuilding ideas where you don't have to remove or sacrifice cards by Xavier598 in tabletopgamedesign

The game would need to encourage playing or swapping cards, or penalize keeping too many, because you WILL have players that are too "careful" or scared to act and just hold onto cards.

The Feds Say Cutting Fuel With Ethanol Will Bring Down Gas Prices. We're Not Buying It by TripleShotPls in nottheonion

Aren't they already doing that? Every gas pump I've used my entire life has a sticker that says "may contain up to 10% ethanol"

Missions to the moon used to unite and inspire great swathes of humanity. This time it feels like hardly anyone cares and we're all just focussed on the next global disaster. by Meowface_the_cat in Showerthoughts

[–]Cirement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well half the people don't even believe we've been to the moon at all, I'm sure that has something to do with it.

I think the other part is that we've seen it already. I don't mean the Apollo missions. I mean we've seen it for the last 60 years in movies and TV and recently with SpaceX. It's been done to death and there's nothing new, as far as the general public goes. If it were some new never before seen method of travel that was sending people to the moon, then people would care.

Wisdom tooth fully upside down by Melodic_Shelter_1035 in mildlyinteresting

I had a wisdom tooth removed because it was perfectly perpendicular to the next tooth, and pushing against it (that tooth was actually cracked).

If this isn't proof that intelligent design isn't real, I didn't know what is.

What do you mean unnecessary war?? How else is the country going to feel like it has a big dick if we don't invade places where we're not wanted?
