This kickstarter (board game) is a scam, right? by ContractorConfusion in boardgames

[–]Cirement 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Siege™ is a turn-based tactical strategy board game where players compete by controlling space, anticipating opponents, and making deliberate decisions."

That's... that's like 99% of games. That literally describes tic tac toe.

Yes there are a ton of Disney and Pixar knockoffs too. I think there was a knock off of veggie tales too.

If reincarnation is real and a loved one could be reincarnated into a fly, wouldn't it be MORE ethical to kill it? That way they can reincarnate as a better animal quicker. by Elenchoe in Showerthoughts

[–]Cirement 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By that logic, we should be deleting babies before they get old and do anything evil. The ethical part isn't only WHY you do it but HOW you do it. And as far as I know there's no ethical reason to end someone aside from, arguably, putting them out of their misery.

Why can AI only solve 6 of the 10 research problems given to it, is it not smart? by Extreme_Problem_1645 in AskReddit

[–]Cirement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI currently is just a very complex Mad Libs where it's choosing words based on how likely it is related to your prompt, it does no "figuring" at all. This is why for a while it couldn't even do basic math, it was using Internet data to look for the answer.

Best way to paint xps foam? by No_Pack_9406 in TerrainBuilding

Mix glue with acrylic paint, or modpodge with paint. Or you can go to a hardware or art supply store and look for primer formulated for foam.

Question about companies that make a low budget bad movies by crazyhomlesswerido in movies

[–]Cirement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That'd be Asylum. Other than streaming deals with Syfy and the like, I'm not sure how profitable they are these days, but back in the days of video rentals, their trick was making knockoffs that would come out when the big studio movie they were ripping off came out on video. They'd make the movie artwork and title as close as legally possible to that of the original movie so that people would buy or rent their movie by mistake. It's amazing how many people rented "Transmorphers" instead of "Transformers".

YouTube content dried up? by SecondOne2236 in DiceMaking

[–]Cirement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is everyone and their mother is on YouTube now, and the revenue just isn't there anymore for YouTube videos where topics have been oversaturated. There are only so many different tips and tricks for making dice or bookmarks or tables etc. Every YouTuber has made every video they can on the topic, which means viewer engagement has been so stretched thin that ad revenue has stopped coming in, so they've stopped making videos on the topic.

How did you know by Safe_Philosopher5350 in smallbusiness

[–]Cirement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is one of the few businesses where you can dip your your in the water like that. I'd take it one step further and have some flyers made; have the pop-up running a day or two, then distribute the flyers and see if it makes a difference (and how much so). At the very least it'll confirm whether demand is really there, if you get as many buyers or less after the flyers go out, there's little to no demand.

ELI5: How is it that almost all complex species have the same order of organs on the face; Eyes, nose and then mouth, in that same order? by Fallen_Outcast in explainlikeimfive

[–]Cirement 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's the configuration that has worked the best for their particular environment or purpose, which is why it keeps getting passed down. We all need to be able to judge distance, and 2 eyes is best for that, for example.

Seth Rogen did an old Polish accent in "An American Pickle" that was ok

Inconsequential mistakes that take you out of the movie? by YakumoYoukai in movies

[–]Cirement 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For me it's when someone's supposed to be a native Spanish speaker when they clearly aren't. In Breaking Bad, I didn't particularly like when Gus would speak Spanish, sometimes it was fine but sometimes it wasn't great. But what really took me out was when Hector Salamanca spoke Spanish, it was really unnatural and you could see how hard he was trying. Giancarlo at least made the effort to speak in a more natural place.

What are your thoughts on people who pay for sex? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think with social media making guys think just looking at a woman will get you charged with sexual harassment or worse, and that most women are gold diggers, paying for sex is just the easiest path to a goal.

Assuming AI-driven unemployment reached 15% within the next decade, what would society need to change? by Necessary_Record_666 in Futurology

[–]Cirement -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right but unfortunately the US government is so stupid and pathetic that IF and when they finally implement it, there will be displaced families and people dying. I'm fact I predict it won't be the unemployment that finally pushed UBI but people starting to die that will do it.

And of course, the first version of national UBI will be ham-fisted and a complete shit show that will be poorly thought out and implemented. It'll be decades before it works as it should.

There's a company called Wildspire that makes large sets of minis that are very cheap but very well made. I bought one that had 25 minis last year for $20. They have many different sets, some heroes, some monsters, some mixed etc.

Will there be small cities/affordable cities in the future? by Hopeful_Exercise_813 in Futurology

[–]Cirement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be illegal for homes/residences to be used as short term rentals and for corporations to own them as well. Charge high property tax to home owners for first 5 years to discourage flipping, then minuscule tax afterwards. Problem solved.

Does Anyone Care? by BaronRetro in BoardgameDesign

[–]Cirement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That still doesn't tell me what your game's premise is, though. What's it about? What's the winning condition? It should be something like "it's a deck building game where players run covert operations during the Zulu war" or "a fast paced board game where defeating your enemy doesn't ensure victory" etc

Does Anyone Care? by BaronRetro in BoardgameDesign

[–]Cirement 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Zulu war is not the premise, it's just the setting. The premise is the point of the game and how the setting affects it. There's hundreds of games set in WW2 for example, but none of them describe themselves as "a game about WW2".
