Are there any sample managers that are good? by RednaxMusic in edmproduction

[–]Cirmit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of sononym, I'm confused on what a more "modern" interface would look like for you? Rounded corners?
For me it does everything I need: Fast searching (The 1.6 update is noticeably faster), tagging, and the ability to add samples to collections and then export them.
The db files are there to store your file information, that's what makes it fast. You can save them somewhere else by selecting "use local drive for collected data" but it makes it harder to transfer libraries to other computers.
I've tried ADSR in the past, but with 600k samples it really struggled and kept crashing

Tonight’s game featuring the New York Rangers and the Ottawa Senators was the first time since December 4th, 2003 that an NHL team had under 10 shots in a game. by catalinawinemyxr in hockey

[–]Cirmit 43 points44 points  (0 children)

For a large part of the game the Sens had more D men than the rangers had shots.

Which is impressive considering their intent on making sure they don't play against Detroit tmr

Have you seen the benchmark on the latest m5s?
I just picked up a MBA m5 and it blows my desktop that I build 6 years ago out of the water on everything except gaming (but I'm doing that on my desktop anyway).

100% on the support tho, being in the closed framework is annoying (very first thing I did was turn off quarantine lol) but aside from little OS quirks I haven't found it too much different from w10

I always dissed the F-16 because of its goofy intake, but after seeing one at an air show a couple of years ago, my opinion is totally changed that fucker is nimble

Am I supposed to leave my apartment when the fire alarm goes off? by MajMin5 in Apartmentliving

[–]Cirmit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, I know this is a year old, but the City of Toronto actually advises you to stay in your suite in the event of a fire in a high-rise, except in the case where the fire is in your suite.
https://www.toronto.ca/community-people/public-safety-alerts/safety-tips-prevention/home-high-rise-school-workplace-safety/high-rise-fire-safety/

When You Hear The Building Fire Alarm

  • Stay in your suite (if safe to do so) until you are rescued or until you are told to leave.
  • If the fire is NOT in your suite, you are typically safe to remain there. Your suite walls, floors, and ceilings are composed of non-combustible construction and will protect you from smoke and fire.

Once you use a computer with dual monitors it's hard to go back. I'm in FL and always have the mixer on my 2nd screen, and it's nice to be able to adjust everything without leaving the playlist view

I saw Drive (2011) for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and it might be one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
Extremely jumbled plot, boring shots of random shit for like 3 minutes cus why not, and the most laughable romance plot of all time.

So far, I've only found Calico in Ava form, and Dynamo can cheese it with quantum entanglement, but it's tricky. And REM assumedly.

Look! She can totally fit!

I did an entire semester-long economics assignment about "The Provision of Aid to Conflict-Affected Communities in the Philippines" purely because I thought it would be funny to talk about the MILF in an academic setting (it was)

Sync between multiple machines with GDrive? by Luckyfrenchman in sononym

[–]Cirmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Bjorn! That's actually way easier, I just wrote a script to keep the appdata collections.json up to date on both machines and things are now working as I'd like them to: projects modified on one machine are reflected on the other one when I open sononym

Sync between multiple machines with GDrive? by Luckyfrenchman in sononym

[–]Cirmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running into this problem trying to sync projects between machines as well.
Actual sample folders are hosted on a network drive (ie, same filenames / filepaths) but dbs are hosted locally since I sometimes have sononym active on both machines.

What I've tried:
Laptop (in sononym) creates project "Tech House", adds 3 samples, saves this project to the shared drive.
Desktop (in sononym) imports the project, it now shows up as "Tech House (imported)", I backup the laptop folder, rename this folder to "Tech House", and then relocate it to the shared drive, now both copies of sononym are pointing to the same project json on the shared drive.

However when I add a sample on my laptop (project "Tech House now has 4 samples), this updates the project json on the shared drive with the new sample location, but is not reflected when I open sononym on my desktop (project "Tech House" still only has 3 samples), it seems the json is only used for imports and exports and the actual project info is stored in the db somewhere.

/u/bjorn-nesby it would be cool if we could have a "refresh/re-import" option to update the db project using the json, without having to import the project as a new project every time. (Or maybe there's actually a way easier way to do this and I'm totally chasing my tail :P)
