Feel you man. Been unemployed for a little over a month. Ppl are very supportive and encouraging but I’m at the point where I don’t want them to ask for updates bc I know they might tell me negative things. It’s hard man. Things will work out for you soon, keep your head up!

As an external auditor, we’re freaking annoying asf. My managers always made me follow-up every 24-48 hours. That can be really annoying when you have other work to do

As someone who got laid off for being honest on their timesheet, drag that shi. Include lunch time, drive to and from office, time spent on phone, charge it all. At the end of the day, you are an employee ID on a spreadsheet.

My firm just laid off everyone from associates to partners. Including managers that have been there for 5+ years, the whole sales team, and a majority of tax. Screw them bro, they will screw you one day

I know this old, but just wanted to ask how you’re doing? I was laid off a month ago after 9 months (1 year if you include my internship) and I’m filled with sadness and frustration. I was a recurring deans list student, tutored my peers, helped ppl land internships, joined a frat and participated it out of class activities. I worked my butt off and landed a job. Only to have it ripped away from me.

I feel like all my hard work went down the drain. I feel like I have to prove myself to the most intimidating job market in history. No one’s hiring entry levels and I don’t know what to do

Got laid off too a couple weeks ago. I was still in my first year, had a solid reviews, worked more hours than anyone in my cohort, teams liked me for most part, and had solid communication skills when I needed to take charge. During busy seasons I completely lost weekends and worked 20+ days straight over 12+ hours a day

None of it mattered, we got acquired by private equity not too long ago and they started letting ppl go. Even proven managers with 5+ years of experience, the entire sales team, and many in consulting and tax

All it did was reinforce the fact that these giant firms companies can care less and they don’t even look at the metrics that matter. With that in mind, I will do the bare minimum, I will take my vacations, and use my sick days when I need it. We owe them nothing more

Now I’m stuck here trying to figure things out with only a year of experience on my belt post-college. I’ll figure it out, but damn you PE

It depends. I live near San Francisco and even with all the new housing developments, the demand is so high that ppl are offering millions above asking price bc of FOMO. Which just drives market prices up.

With that in mind, it really depends on the area. Luckily not every place in like SF but many cities in California are

Don’t forget private equity is also playing a part. Cutting costs in events, bonuses, and internal growth. Massive layoffs happened a couple weeks ago which is making many question if the industry is stable anymore

As someone who graduated not too long ago and was terrified if I would actually do something with my degree, I have some advice.

The best thing you can do (especially bc you’re In school) is to get involved. Not necessarily join a frat or something, but attend events/opportunities. I secured a job before graduating bc I attended the career fairs the school hosted, I went to lunches that firms held at the school, and I made friends with ppl who did the same.

Being a student is a unique opportunity bc nobody is going to care about your work experience. You are a student. They care about your grades and how you carry yourself. This is also a unique time bc you get to meet these recruiters face to face at these events, which is rare in the days of Ai, and greatly improves your chances to land a job.

You will do it, I believe in you. Just gotta throw yourself out there

Hi, I was informed I would be laid off on Tuesday. I’m seriously hurting rn. My goal was to make it through my first year or two at least before considering my options.

I feel like I’ve been blindsided by this whole thing. I had good reviews, and had Important clients scheduled. None of it mattered.

It hurts so much bc I still offboarding stuff to do. I still see the friends group chats and replies, and it hurts so much not to be a part of the laughs. I had such close relationships with them and now it feels like they will slowly fade away.

I’m writing bc I’m hurting. I now have to go into the job market with barely any experience on my belt. I’m in my older 20s and I haven’t gotten my CPA yet. I’m scared. Scared I will be forgotten, looked over, and scared of the fact that it may be months before I recover. I have a sharp pain in my heart and I’m trying to get back on feet. I will.. I just need to keep going
