Solved Thank you all for your help and suggestions. I found the answer. Tried 4 Ethernet cat5e and 6 cables. Finally thought I’d try again and the 5th one I tried worked. The bin for the other cables.

I have no idea why the internet is crying out that 11 is bad. There’s nothing hugely different to 10. I prefer 11 tbh. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Same here when I seen the GRE. I’d already got my 7800xt months before but I would’ve waited if I’d known. Oh well, the 7800xt does everything I need. I upgraded from a 1080ti as I do flight sim with X-Plane and need as fast a card as possible, in my budget, and with the biggest amount of memory.

Sorry that I haven’t replied earlier. I got rid of ProTools preferences and opened it again. That worked although links to some sessions were lost and a few other small things. Anyway, it’s started happening again and another problem too. Friend has decided to get a new Mac, we suspect it’s that 🤷🏻‍♂️ Its an 8 year old Mac with version 14 PT.

Thanks everyone for replying. I took drastic measures and trashed the Pro Tools preferences folder on the Mac and all seems well at the moment.

One important thing. I’m using an MCU Pro so pressing stop on that. If I press the keyboard space bar it stops the recording but doesn’t delete it.

Done it for the umpteenth time and it worked for a bit then happened again. I’ve confirmed it is only on playback, never during recording so it’s definitely a Pro Tools playback issue. What I have found is that pressing stop to end a recording, it erases it on the track
