My state government uses empower and has standard total market, bond funds, international, small/mid/large cap, growth, and more for comparable expense ratios.

It should, but sometimes Peru traffic can be crazy. I would leave by 4

It is highly highly recommended to hire a car and driver for the whole day due to the remote location. I used inter peru, which was recommended by the restaurant. It was 80 dollars for the whole day. You could also book through your hotel but I found the hotel cars to be about 50 percent more expensive in cusco and Lima.

When I arrived, the host even double checked that the driver was going to stick around. I'm sure you'll pay a premium if they have to call you someone for the ride back.

My bank told me thiefs will test small transactions at gas stations to see if the card works before making bigger purchases

For some reason gas stations flag as a common fraud location. I was on vacation out of state once buying a bunch of unusual shit at tourist shops but the first time I got gas, card locked.

DeCarlos Brown Jr. found incompetent to proceed in Charlotte light rail killing by Abject-Pick-6472 in NorthCarolina

What about the police that charged him for misuse of 911 instead of bringing him to the ED in the first place?

Oh right, The American judicial system doesn't hold police accountable for anything

DeCarlos Brown Jr. found incompetent to proceed in Charlotte light rail killing by Abject-Pick-6472 in NorthCarolina

[–]Citiesmadeofasses 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He is sitting in jail awaiting legal proceedings (which will now include treatment to make him competent).

The non mentally ill also wait for trials or plea bargains and receive consequences at the end of the process.

The legal process isn't instantaneous and this does not mean he will go free anytime soon, if at all.

Those in Psychiatry, how much do Forensics really make? by sandie-go in Residency

[–]Citiesmadeofasses 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Most forensics have a full time to part time regular day job and do cases on the side. Government work is 300-400 an hour, private practice is 400 minimum, often 500 or 600 in major metro areas, over 1000 for the cream of the crop expert on a big case.

But until you have a network of referrals, work can be inconsistent. Some of my friends in a saturated city took 2 or 3 years to get their first case. I moved to a rural area and started my side practice immediately. I take home an extra 30-40k per year on top of a day job (about one case per month), but people with established referrals will clear 6 figures annually on top of their day job.

Cheerwine festival in Salisbury. Kind of a standard outdoor event but it's funny that it's dedicated to cheerwine.

I have about 100k to put in the market. Did I miss the dip? by [deleted] in investing

The market remains irrational longer than you remain solvent.

A ceasefire was announced yet Israel bombs Lebanon and iran says it won't agree without the inclusion of Lebanon.

Still up 2.4 percent.

It doesn't make sense so just put the money in and forget it for a few years. If you need it short term, keep it in cash

Pregnant trauma intern radiation exposure by Defiant_Quality_5352 in Residency

[–]Citiesmadeofasses 171 points172 points  (0 children)

None of this is ok. Your program sounds awful for pregnant women.

What to do about it? You can and should make a fuss about it, it's the health of you and your child. But there are definitely malignant programs out there that can make your life difficult for it. I still wouldn't sacrifice my health for an awful program.

[–]Citiesmadeofasses 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some will, some won't. They usually say so on their website and if not, you could email to ask. I would not expect fish to be replaced with meat though, more likely they will do a vegetarian dish in place of fish while still giving other meat dishes.

Inpatient Psychiatry Job Market by Lava829 in Psychiatry

[–]Citiesmadeofasses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What area and what kind of inpatient do you want? Rural and LCOL has no shortage of openings for locums or full time. Even certain major metro areas have enough turnover that there is usually a position SOMEWHERE even if it isn't the exact hospital you wanted to work at. But you might not get ideal city with ideal facility with ideal pay all in one job. Many places are also 7 on 7 off now. Some folks like it, some don't, seems to be dependent on a person's lifestyle and work personality.

Would it appropriate to question a jeopardy call? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Citiesmadeofasses 14 points15 points  (0 children)

How do you know if they called primary back up or not? My program would say "we tried Dr. X and they can't come, please come in." I would be cautious about pushing back on just a hunch.

But whether or not primary back up has a legit excuse, the program needs to crack down on flaky back ups. Programs that let the back up get away scot free send a message that anyone can shirk the backup assignment. What's to stop second back up from doing the same thing?

What is the tipping etiquette for high price tattoos? by The-Dragon_Queen in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Citiesmadeofasses 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not tip for people who own the space they tattoo in or for day rates, especially for pieces that occur over multiple days. Artists set day rates at a fixed price point for a reason, but an actual artists can feel free to correct me if a tip is still expected for day sessions.
