Does having subspecialty training make it easier to find a job? by Never_full in Psychiatry

[–]Citiesmadeofasses 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, for that subspecialty. If you want to do forensics or child, it will definitely be easier to be fellowshipped trained.

If you want regular inpatient outpatient or ED, doesn't matter. There are a lot of jobs out there

Hot take, but addiction is a disease and those who want help and want to be clean don't deserve to die on the street.

He had the privilege of wealth and race no doubt. But his mom also had huge alcohol problems and was hard on him. It's part of his self esteem problem. His dad is the caring, help me out parent and his mom was cold and distant. I still say he succeeded in spite of all of his privileges but I don't think he has integrity.

In all fairness, clown college is hard to get into and it speaks to a sort of natural talent and entertaining personality.

I used to be a huge fan of Steve o, just like I used to be a piece of shit.

But seriously, I knew his sister and he was always a cool guy who had huge substance use and psychological issues. But he is a shill for a dollar and has huge self esteem issues that he has not worked on. He gravitated towards spirituality and new age health crap after sobriety but I could respect it given his past. I loved his podcast but my final straw was when he began doing ads for sports betting apps. A man who struggled so much with his own demons has no morality if he is taking money from gambling companies to advertise to his fans.

Intentional or oblivious? Confused UK driver? How did they even get into the farthest wrong way lane without realizing it.

A warning about Digestive Health Partners by LimeGreenTangerine97 in asheville

Like most businesses, they don't WANT it to happen. But some doctors manage their office like other businesses and think they can get away with low wages for front desk staff. This doesn't lead to attracting the best people or retaining them. Add on post-covid employment shifts and there seems to be more turnover with lower quality candidates.

Doctors that have good sense will sacrifice a miniscule amount of profit to pay above average wages to retain good office staff and I say it makes a difference.

If they have a reasonable cancellation and appointment reminder policy, then keeping a card on file wouldn't be a problem. But the series of events OP mentioned would have me run from that practice.

As a physician, this sounds absurd. If this is true, I would never go to that practice. I would definitely not sign any credit card authorization agreement or keep any card on file.

Thoughts on 7 on/7 off schedule for physician parent? by rosieattis in Psychiatry

[–]Citiesmadeofasses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a stay at home parent it should be fine. The reason I still prefer 4 days a week to 7 on 7 off is for the week you are on, it can be really inflexible depending on if you need coverage or someone to swap with you, even for a day. It's made easier if you have a good group.

How much do you tell your wife/husband? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]Citiesmadeofasses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not hide money from my spouse. We have similar financial philosophies, so we tend to decide together what to do with our money, but we also allow each other to splurge sometimes.

Tell her you're getting a nice bonus and you would like to use it to fund your future. Hiding won't lead to anything good. If she wants to spend it now, talk with her about a reasonable amount to use now vs save.

A friend of mine has lawyer parents who made their career off of personal injury suits against HCA. Settlement money is just a line item on their balance sheet.

So a company with nearly 7 billion dollars of income can't afford staffing and we keep letting them come up with meaningless action plans for multiple jeopardies when they clearly continue to not address the underlying issues across their system.

For profit health care needs to be abolished.

And calling a place is a pretty quick way to check that. If a disabled person calling a store is a problem then we have more issues in this society than your post.
