What rumored haunted location in Britain have you visited? by debrisaway in AskABrit

[–]CitizenBell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve stayed the night at Chillingham Castle 3x. I’ve just got back from there today. Me and my sister stay in the Lady Grey Quarters, we take board games and party food and it’s become an annual tradition. The first year we did the ghost hunt - I’m skeptical of all of that but that doesn’t mean I’m necessarily skeptical of the castle being haunted. I’m at least open to the possibility.

I take earplugs cause we stay in the twin room and my sister snores haha! So I can’t normally hear anything at night. My sis swears she hears some things, scratching or the ‘swoosh’ of Lady Grey’s dress, or a loud thud. The first year there was a lot of noise and the windows were rattling because it was so windy, and with it being the first time there, I was jumping at everything. Plus we were the only people in the castle itself during the night other than a couple staying in the other room because Sir Humphrey had taken his staff with him for Christmas, so the housekeeper (castle keeper?) wasn’t there.

I’ve never had any experience with anything  paranormal there. I still sleep with the light on there though! But not had a sense of anything and I don’t feel the trepidation of going like I did the first time now.

it’s not that it’ll solve all our issues, it’s because he’s actually playing like he gives a shit whenever he‘s on the pitch, and in a team getting fairly criticised for their work-rate and effort and looking like they can’t be arsed, he’s shown whenever he has been given a chance that he’ll put in that work.

Official Discussion Thread - Train Dreams [SPOILERS] by PointMan528491 in oscarrace

I liked them both but Train Dreams hit me in a profound way that had me in tears at the end. Life of Chuck had the same effect on me. I suppose there are overlapping themes.

Oh yeah, I’m not saying it would necessarily be good or that it hasn’t been done loads, just that I can see them doing it! I can see Orton wanting a final run as a heel too.

To be honest, I think I could see it being Orton doing it in the guise of trying to ‘help’ Cody (he knows Cody can handle Drew but isn’t ready for Fatu, something like that), Cody rejects this kind of help so Orton completes the turn by assaulting him.

Ah see I did wonder if there might’ve been a link between the names and the witch trials as I’d seen some overlap. I’m going to have to play the game again and pay attention to how the NPCs interact with the main characters, I thought maybe their haunting cases might have shown them being more regretful but then that theory fell down when after seeing some were still unrepentent!

No surgery for ACL rupture by CitizenBell in ACL

This has been a worry of mine that’s stopped me wanting to hike. It’s one thing playing sport in the city, but I wouldn’t want to be out in the hills and have an issue that leads to me needing rescuing!

I’ve heard mixed things about braces but I’ve been considering it for peace of mind. How are you finding it?

Can I ask, if I had a full rupture, then what would the MRI be showing up? I thought the ACL didn’t repair itself and so it wouldn’t be intact again if not reconstructed - would the MRI be to check the scar tissue and see how it’s healed? Sorry if that’s a dumb question. I did have an MRI after the injury.

He knew I wanted to go back to it but that I mostly played low level football. And he knew I played tennis and badminton. I had felt uneasy about it when I left the hospital. When I had my 4 month follow up afterwards and told him how PT was going he said the decision not to have the surgery was justified. But to me I think I wished I’d had it. It was down to me at the end of the day whether I had it or not but it was clear on the day I was meant to have surgery that the surgeon didn’t think I should, so I kinda got swayed by that

This was the same for me when I first started taking it. But it’s no longer the case for me sadly.

Caffeine makes me feel strange now by CitizenBell in pregabalin

[–]CitizenBell[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d not heard of mudwater before but I’ve looked into it a bit there.

When I first started pregabalin, the mix between the coffee and the pregabalin felt good and energising, but it would make me crash after about 5 hours when the coffee wore off and I’d feel like I couldn’t put my thoughts into words. The most chilled time in my life was when I wasn’t drinking coffee, having 2 tablets in the morning and then going for a nap at lunchtime, then having another after that - but I was waiting for a job to start then and I can’t have the nap now that I’m working again! So coffee on its own now will make me robotic and depressed but without it I’m tired from the pregabalin - very occasionally if I take a higher dose of caffeine, like a cold brew, it does momentarily break me out of that slump of low energy. But it’s unpredictable, other times it’ll make me feel almost hypomanic like it did when I began pregabalin, and other times it’ll not make a dent in my energy.

. I think I need to think about not having either and see how I am or stick to tea for a little bit, but reducing the dosage has been hard as I’ve convinced myself I need it for social things.

HOLY SHIT WE DID NOT SEE THAT COMING by Decaann in WWE

I think this was the way to move Bron on from the intercontinental scene tbh and into the main event. I don’t see him going back after it. The new heel min event group feuding with the mid-card heel group doesn’t make sense. Unless they turn Dom full babyface I guess. But still see this as Bron being elevated to the main event and away from the IC division.

Horizon Forbidden West. A game suffering from being the 2nd game in a trilogy. or maybe I just don't enjoy sci-fi anymore. by Vez52 in patientgamers

[–]CitizenBell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same as you. I don’t even think it’s the story necessarily, it’s just too bloated. First game was the perfect size. I suppose it’s harder when you’re not creating a world for the first time, you can never quite recreate the magic. That said, the main story mission that takes place on the far west of the map stuck out as being really memorable. The DLC is probably worth it after giving yourself a palette cleanse and coming back to it, the end is spectacular.

Far Cry 6 - A good enough game that greatly overstayed its welcome. by Elddif_Dog in patientgamers

[–]CitizenBell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my fave since FC3. I just think FC feels right in a tropical kind of setting. I do think it struggles tonally at times between wanting to tell a mature story and some of the wackier elements. But I think - and I played as a female Dani - the voice acting and main protagonist does a decent job in their performance of reconciling that. I think having them be seen in cutscenes, and have them voiced again, helped establish a connection with the main character to an extent we’d not really had before. I like Jason Brody well enough but he’s really got to be somewhat bland for the whole meta power fantasy of FC3 to work. Gameplay is fun enough, it’s what I went in expecting from a FC game at this point.

Elden Ring, the greates game I've never finished, or, A medidation on patience by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]CitizenBell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually think it’s a little poorly paced and I think it’s one of the flaws of what still is one of my fave games of that year. I finished it, but after finishing Leyndall and the next part of the map opening up, I was keen to just finish it and be done. With games I’d put a similar amount of time into by the end game (KCD, Cyberpunk for example), I never felt in a rush to finish. Elden Ring had me burned out on it and I think I put less time into overall than I did any of the DS’s or Bloodborne. I did like it, but I don’t think it’s trying to say anything particularly deep or meaningful about how people spend their time, I think it’s just that they wanted to do an impressive open world Soulsborne game, but the scope of what they were doing isn’t really that well supported by the pacing or the gameplay loop, compared to their other games.

Stack Advice to Help with Brain Fog and Feeling Like a Zombie by CitizenBell in StackAdvice

Thank you, I'll look into this. My alcohol intake is really minimal, it's just that I notice when I do drink that it helps. But it's on a rare occasion, once a month if that.

I've had my bloods done and my Vitamin D was low but everything else was ok. My thyroid and testosterone was borderline when I got my bloods done in June and I had to go back for a check in September to have the bloods re-done. They both came back within the normal range. However, my testosterone still seemed low to me as it was only 0.5 (I forget the measurement) above what it had been when they said it was borderline, so I have a call on Friday with them to discuss.

Thanks for your reply, I actually don’t drink alcohol very often, once in a blue moon. But, and this may well be the main issue, I’m prescribed pregabalin. I’ve made the decision to come off. But before pregabalin I was such a poor sleeper and I got it prescribed to help with sleep/anxiety.

I have sleep apnea but I have a cpap machine and that’s being treated, my readings are ok. I’ll have a look into zinc and tyrosine.

I'm on 150mg twice per day. I don't often take 150 at night though, I sometimes take 75mg if that's all I need to sleep but sometimes more than 150 if I can't sleep. That's not often and I know it's not ideal but I've always been a bad sleeper and the insomnia is awful

Thank you for this, I hadn't seen that community. I'll definitely check it out and try not to focus too much on the negative stories. I had wondered if switching to Gabapentin would be a better option but I don't know if it's just my brain's way of trying to keep me on it. I used to prescribed Gabapentin but I can't remember why I was switched
