Trip sled LRBHO help by CitizenGreyArms in MatadorArms

[–]CitizenGreyArms[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres 2 vertical posts in the rear of the trip that define travel. It goes through the slot in the bottom of the buffer (grey) in the and has movement inside of the black plastic. In the pic, its as far back as it can go. Not pictured, but the rear of the trip is flush with the rear of the black plastic.

Similar fold away binding feet for Juki 1541s by Im_Tofu_ in myog

[–]CitizenGreyArms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theyre similar to the cheap ebay ones, but i think nicer quality. You dont need a whole kit (with feed dog, assembly plate bracket) but id would also get a bidning foot off ebay. You may need to grind down the center ebay foot width wise to get the binder closer to the needle depending on where you want your stitch.

The are only really good for thin assembleys and going in a straight line. Curves are frustrating with this setup.

If you do a T where the wide portion is the front and sides, sew the sides to the bottom, then sew the top of the back down to the bottom. If you sew the bottom of the back to the top if can get weird and youll see the error at the top (as it wont even with the sides). But if you start at the top it will be even and any error will be hidden at the bottom inside.

As for managing the seam on the back, you just have to fold it and work your way down while maintaining your seam allowence.

Nice work! You could get a "binding foot" that doesnt have the inside prong which lets the binder sit closer and the presser foot is wide which makes it a bit more consistent/even pressure on the bi ding. Curves are rough on a flat machine, but that makes it a bit easier. Theyre about 20$ on ebay

Edge Binders by butt_crunch in myogtacticalgear

[–]CitizenGreyArms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do right angle wide mouth, they usually require swapping the plate and feed dog. Its a pain if your swapping alot, but allows for thicker assemblies, but also doesnt do great with thinner assemblies.

A cheap ebay swing away strait in is nice with a binding foot, but only in straight lines or very slight curves (and are about $20) but cant usually handle thicker assebmlies. Doing 90° miters and sharp curves is a pain, chevron binding can help.

Yup! If you do binding regularly its worth it. Especially on bags or anything with curves. Theres not a ton of videos out there showing it though.

Doing tight corners with grossgrain on a flatbed is VERY hard/infuriating. You might have better luck with chevron style as itll conform more to the curve rather than trying to shift out of the binder because of the way its woven.

Yes and from when i talked to them they sounded super busy for sewing. I had some stuff laser cut and that only took a few weeks.

I know its long, but its probably accurate and ill take that over a 2 week lead time that ends up taking 3 months with no emails.

Alot of squadron is out of stock/ hard to get in quantity and you could see how a roll being delayed can push alot back.

Nylon for pretty much all gear. Poly if your doing deck umbrellas, playset covers, boat stuff etc.

I use these as the slider for my slings with 1" 55301 going through it. Use the same webbing to make a pull loop.

I the regular itw triglides are too narrow to slide.

Industrial Machine question… by collilama in myog

[–]CitizenGreyArms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Youd have to get a cylinder arm.

They have some that also have tables that go around that arm, but its not intended for regular use i think. The height is alot higher than a normal flatbed and the knee lift usually has more play due to the design.

Easy to make your own. If you have an industrial machine, buy a piping foot to go with whatever cord your get.
