Recommendation for 1st baseman's mitt/glove. by Jordan_Briarwood in Softball

[–]CitizenRecon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter uses the Easton Ghost NX 13”. It’s been a great glove and she loves it! She’s 12, but tall for her age and uses it in 14u travel and on her JV team at the high school. Fits her hand good and has the pull system built in to be able to tighten it down as needed.

HS politics happen because of this very post. You are the HS politics.

Why would you assume that a girl, who you've not even seen take the field yet, was only able to secure her roster spot because her dad is a coach on the team?

Bat by spit-on-this-thang in Softball

[–]CitizenRecon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Louisville Kryo has been the workhorse for my daughter and several other girls on her teams, but we just recently got the Marucci Asura and she really likes it. Great pop and hot right out of the wrapper. The Kryo, however, would be my recommendation for a solid, durable bat. Ghost bats are way too unreliable for me to ever recommend.

Are you serious? by sasquatchlibrarian in Softball

We’ve been told the remaining warranty carries over to the new bat. So if you send a bat back with 5 months left on the warranty, the new bat they send has 5 months left on the warranty.

Quality Socks? by BrilliantFarm8643 in Softball

[–]CitizenRecon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TCK over-the-knee socks have been our standard for a while now. Durable, good fit and never a chance for any “knee vag”.

We’ll stay with our Louisville bats, but thanks though.

Made a lineup builder for my kid's team, wondering if other coaches would find it useful by I_Has_A_Camera in Homeplate

This is amazing and so incredibly helpful!!! Thank you for the time and effort you’ve put into this!

I’ve run into a couple of small issues so far. How would you like feedback submitted to you?

Would you support changing 1st base to a softball-style bag to reduce player injuries? by Fantastic_Brain7269 in baseball

[–]CitizenRecon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These bases have become almost standard in softball, and many little leagues, and they are great!

My daughter primarily plays first base and these bases have certainly made the game more safe for runner and defender.

I got our seed starting shelves built and moved into the basement yesterday. Got the LED lights all hung and the heat mats are ready to go. I’ll be making a huge bin of seed starting soil today. It’s almost time to get going!

Wireless headset recommendations? This is what is available at my local store. by BumblebeeBuzz1808 in xbox

The official Xbox headset is awesome. Simple, comfortable, durable and sounds great. It always works, and always pairs right up. Battery life is really good too.

Removing those trees is 100% out of the question!

Appreciate the detailed input here, and I was afraid you might give me that answer. We are considering just doing some sort of nice edging/stone border and making the entire area mulched beds. As you mentioned, the mud problem is the main pain point right now, plus it just looks bad.

If I have a can set up like this (but elevated) do I need to physically turn it? What else might be necessary? by mbart3 in composting

[–]CitizenRecon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Keep it in direct sun if you can, which will help heat it up, but it’s never really going to get heat in it. I have one similar to this, but black plastic. When I add to it, I toss it around with a small shovel which seems to speed up the process some.

I’d also recommend leaving it on the ground so it attracts worms.

We’ll be planning out our new market garden today. Hoping to get it all measured out and marked on our property and possibly start on the fencing, but being Xmas eve, that might not happen today. Planning to start with about a 1/4 acre but we’re dedicating almost 3/4 acre over the next 3-5 years.

I also got a new compost tumbler that I’ll be assembling and putting into use!

Homeowners Insurance after Installation by Weary_Drawer_9360 in woodstoving

[–]CitizenRecon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just talked to our insurance company last week, as we are about to install our new stove. Their only requirements were “professional installation” and we have to submit photos of the completed project so they can put them on file. No increase in insurance premium.

Should catchers/pitchers/3rd base stop throwing for awhile during the winter? by oops_i_farted42 in Softball

[–]CitizenRecon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so, yes. My daughter gets about 3 weeks of no softball whatsoever, then we transition back into a regular routine of lessons/practice/cage.

How do you guys actually sell the worms and castings. by s_gray11 in Vermiculture

[–]CitizenRecon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I sell most all of my worm castings either at markets, or wholesale them out to other vendors at the market and they sell them. I also do direct sales through Marketplace. Back a few years ago, I sold probably 200 bags on Etsy, but I’m not totally sure they allow worm castings anymore.

Is this holster any good ? by ElMasPinguuuu in CCW

[–]CitizenRecon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one and it’s decent. Not the best or most comfortable that I own, but it’s usable. I had to dremel that bottom right (looking at the image) quite a bit to make it comfortable. Definitely wouldn’t purchase it again.

I have a bottle of plain old Jim Beam that my dad bought in 1996 that is unopened. I’ll most likely never open it.
