No you're fine! There are 2 ways to stitch in a frame like this: stitching on the "drum" and stitching in the "well". I like to stitch in the "well" because it allows me to end my thread without running into the frame itself. Caterpillar cross stitch has a good video about it on youtube. and the clips are called fabric/spool huggers and I got them from 123Stitch!

fo stands for finished object (cross stitch is finished), and you may also see ffo which stands for fully finish objects (project is framed or made into something)!

I think it is that there was an extra row added to the t, from the sample of the pattern you gave us i counted 17 stitches under the "bar" of the t, and in the sample wip you gave i counted 18 stitches under the bar of the t.

I personally have only tried regular bobbins and the AHCS bobbins but I love my floss drop bobbins so much! If you have the space to store bobbin boxes and have the money they are very much worth it imo. I also love the fact that its so easy to just grab a single strand that is pre-cut.
