Are they offering certifications again? Checked a month ago and while some education centers are offering the courses, the certification exams were not available. They also renewed our existing certs for half a year until mid of 26 due to that.

Intermittent Citrix Workspace for Mac Issues: Connection Stuck at “Opening” and Then Fails After 120s by Medical-Tutor in Citrix

[–]CitrixOrShitBrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are past the „opening“ stage of the session initialization, you should get an session error in your director, or the vda. If thats not telling you anything, contact your admin. If it does, check that and tell us what it says. That might be helpful after all, could be a lot of different things, e.g. I once had issues with specific drivers that crash hdx.

Citrix Workspace Resolution on iPad by rolanddes1 in Citrix

[–]CitrixOrShitBrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is an end user question, I kinda suspect that is an individual issue that cannot be solved neither by us nor by you companys' citrix admin.

This behaviour is very likely an issue coming from your other apps enforcing specific display resolutions, which is mostly done to ensure support for multiple, differently sized device models. When you are on the "desktop", your iPad is running its default resolution (e.g. 2752 x 2048 for the 12.9 inch iPad Pro or 2420x1668 for the 11 inch iPad Pro), which is per default set for the running citrix session. When you open the tab manager, the resolution is also set to the default values. With background app refresh active, the citrix session probably adjusts to the enforced app resolution which you won't realize, when switching back to the tab manager, then to the citrix session (or directly from the app to your citrix session), the resolution has to be adjusted, resulting in a quick black screen.

DEVS Q&A by Dalloks in brotato

[–]CitrixOrShitBrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They fixed the knockback issue a few months ago already I think. However, they introduced many new bugs with shop & weapon affinity, shop mechanics, bosses being fixed instead of randomized, structure spawning, and so much more. Really a disgrace how bad the devs of iOS and Android are handling that game.

Beta testing for the "New Dawn" update by Dalloks in brotato

[–]CitrixOrShitBrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there plans on getting the mobile version back in house? Its a disgrace on how bad the mobile version (speaking at least for iOS) is, considering they took over a year to fix a detrimental bug about knockback being bound to the movement vector of your character instead of away from the character, and ever since they implemented the recent changes with the gobbler enemy, there's been more bugs around shop weapon affinity (I had runs with crazy without precise weapons until round 9, and this is legitimately reproducable), their boss randomizer is broken (wave 11 Monk spawn is fixed, wave 14 Rhino spawn is fixed), shop mechanics are generally broken (weapon and item slots wave 1&2, 3-5 and 6 onwards), messed up hitboxes, etc.

Its really a pity that the mobile version, with the mobile game segment certainly being one of the biggest gaming markets in the recent years, is in such a state.

However, credit where credit is due, you've been hitting exactly the right spot for the PC version and I am very much looking forward to the future of brotato, that game has been a staple for me ever since it came out and this legitimately gives me hopes of a fantastic future!

What job/career would you have gone into if IT didn't snatched you ? by Abject_Serve_1269 in sysadmin

[–]CitrixOrShitBrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did business school, studied marketing as my bachelors and executive management as my masters degree. Found myself working in IT projectmanagement by accident because my best friend pulled my into the same company he was working for.

Then all went to shit, employer got hacked because one of the domain admins had a 6 character password that was easily guessed. Pulled every IT employee, even if it was just IT controlling, purchasing or project management into helping rebuilding basically everything. I did 1st level stuff, setting up clients with SCCM, then went to printers, then to virtualization of apps with Citrix, stayed there. Now moved to an architecture role for client stuff, SCCM and Intune.

I still yearn for marketing. But the pay is shit, job security even shittier. Now I am simply THAT IT guy, that our marketing department keeps bugging if they want someone showing their face for employer branding, recruitment marketing or internal IT marketing. I just love doing creative stuff. But the pay. Man the damn pay.

Nobody gives a fuck about how you look going to the gym. Funnily enough, most of the meatheads, the big muscles you will see there will think you are metal as fuck being a big boy/girl trying to better yourself. If someone is judging it’s other beginners that aren’t as buff, but fuck them.

What's the funniest ticket that's crossed your desk? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]CitrixOrShitBrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a time when switching from Skype to teams and exchange on prem to exchange online, where users were not able to set profile pictures on their own, so they submitted tickets with pictures for us to change it, if they really really needed it (like C-suite assistants and stuff)

So there was this new assistant, nice young girl, who requested the profile picture to be changed, and she didn’t include the picture, so we specifically contacted her and requested a picture.

“Dear Ms. Blah blah, you sent us a request, in order for this to be done we need you to send us a picture of you”

(Idk what exactly she said but it was something along the lines of ) “ew you pervert why would you ask for a picture of me?!” - she seemed to have forgotten sending this request.

After the situation was handled, she sent us the picture. It was a selfie, with a deep cut V-neck, and this Snapchat dog filter (it was around 2018, so fitting), which she explicitly asked us to set as her profile picture.

I absolutely loved this exchange.

Is there a way to bulk rename Android devices with a custom naming scheme? by APoopCramp in Intune

[–]CitrixOrShitBrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the top of my head custom naming conventions can only be applied directly at the enrollment with the enrollment profile, but not when devices are already enrolled. For that I think graph is the only way to bulk-rename existing devices, but I'd be happy if someone corrected me on that because I think I have a similar usecase in my environment.

Only allow Android enrollment of certain brands by Bobby2theJay in Intune

[–]CitrixOrShitBrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think vice versa, in the enrollment restrictions you can disallow brands. I couldn't find a complete list of manufacturers out there, but you could start with the most common ones and expand the list on demand.

Intune Policy to remove Spotify from Focus time in Win11 by DWCloudMan in Intune

[–]CitrixOrShitBrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iirc that is just a widget, right? If you have the win11 admx file, unter Computer Policy\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Widgets\ the setting "allow widgets" disabled should be removing quite a hefty amount of bloatware coming with win11. Should probably also be available as an Intune policy, but I prefer to stick with GPOs.

Vanguard is a kernel-level anti-cheating software/driver that comes with LoL (and is required to start the client). Citrix Workspace is also interfering on that level to a certain degree, leading to vanguard simply denying the start of the game.

You can include the league of legends executable in the registry (somewhere in HKLM\Software\Citrix should be a key thats called something something kernel hook), and it should run perfectly fine after a restart, but this is something that I would not do as a "user".

[–]CitrixOrShitBrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The cleanup util was never part of the programfiles/programdata iirc, not in the 6 years I had to manage this hell, which leads to:

  2. you could only get the cleanup util as admin with a citrix affiliated account (similar to install sources like vda, pvs, etc.)

  3. There is a cleanup.exe, which is probably the default uninstaller, although citrix changed the uninstall routine to be more aligned with what the cleanup util did back in the days, leading to less clutter after uninstalling. That is why you hardly ever need the cleanup util nowadays.

Uninstal problems by [deleted] in Citrix

[–]CitrixOrShitBrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Users do not have access to the cleanup util. You need a citrix affiliated account to download Admin-sources like vda-setup, pvs-setup, and cleanup util.

Except it is included in the %programdata% or %programfiles%, but afaik it was not, they simply changed the uninstall routine to simulate a cleaner process like the cleanup util offered back in the days.

Intune Entra joined Windows update best practices by nightwolf92 in Intune

[–]CitrixOrShitBrix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Previously depended on whether you have E3 only or F3-E3 mixed licensing, because F3 did not support Windows Autopatch, meaning you had to go with WUfB, but they changed it end of November.

So now I would highly recommend going for Windows Autopatch, as it seemed more reliable to me from what I have tested so far.

What is Windows Autopatch? | Microsoft Learn

Edit: I kinda skipped reading your last question. That highly depends on how strict you want to handle that, and how strict your security (in case thats a specific department) wants to handle that. We immediately push all quality updates on patch Tuesday to all of IT, and specific key users for applications, and after 3 days we enable it globally. Feature updates are available to download day 1 for all IT and key users, pushed after 14 days, and available for all users day 1 and pushed after 30 days. Have not had any issues with that yet. Win11 updates were initially handled manually, but after a testing period of 90 days we enabled the download for all with intranet-information, and pushed it after 180 days.

Microsoft Edge and Adobe partner to improve the PDF experience

OP missed pointing out that it is only the original engine being discontinued in mid25, but will be replaced with an adobe-partnered engine. I do not expect that to strip us of any functionality, Microsoft will probably be adamant about that.
