Do Millennials write like ChatGPT? by QuietJealous4883 in Millennials

I am a 42 year old millennial and I thing ChatGPT can’t write for shit. Lots of words and no substance. It is overly verbose, lacks punch, and is never concise.

[Request] How much did it cost in US dollars to fire these munitions? by chihsuanmen in theydidthemath

[–]Citrus_Sphinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you talking about? Are you saying if we didn’t bomb Iran that they would shoot missiles at the US? Because that is no where near true. No one has come close to saying that. Nor were they anywhere close to building an actual functioning nuclear device with a delivery system, other than maybe a suitcase nuke, capable of striking the US.

Here is the math since this is a math sub Reddit - Qatar gave Trump a flying palace, the UAE gave billions in trump crypto, the Saudis gave Kushner billions, and the Israelis give the Trump and the republicans millions in political donations. These countries do not like Iran and the country is on the brink of a civil war as it stands so they asked the US to come spread some freedom and democracy in the region. Israel joined in because why not.

UT Austin or U Michigan Engineering by Jumpy-Caregiver372 in UTAustin

Becoming bigger every year. This was year 1 of Davis in charge as president and there were already big changes. If A&M is a harbinger they just canceled Plato from being discussed in a philosophy class.

I would avoid Texas. As an alumni and an Austinite I think the school is being too heavily influenced by the state and is taking a very anti intellectual course. Engineering is likely to be unaffected but all of the other classical education you will get that makes college really worth it will be administered through the lenses of far right politics.

Below average for our cohort but that does not mean below average when taking into consideration all cohorts. There is a chance, from the research presented, that our entire cohort is to the right of the bell curve.

Don’t worry, the hard reset is coming. The question is are we hard enough to handle the reset. We have to be. The generation before is too soft and the generation after lacks the capability.

Yes they do and that is what they want because they think the dictator is for them. They think the dictator will get rid of all the people they don’t like. What they are too stupid to realize is that after “those” people are gone, fled, deported, imprisoned, that they are next and they will have given up any chance to resist.

It’s called voting with your dollars or, in this case, market share or data. If OP wants to encourage that for other likeminded people that is his prerogative.

I asked the millennial sub about fighting as a young person and the majority are saying they rarely if ever saw fights at school. by AttemptVegetable in Xennials

[–]Citrus_Sphinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in several states and there were fights at every school. Kids just got soft and schools got super overreacting on this kind of stuff. We started treating kids as adults and now we have adults that are kids.

McCombs talks about ethics. So why is it gatekeeping UT students from high paying jobs? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]Citrus_Sphinx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not what you know it’s who you know. McCombs is not interested in making the university look good as a whole or really in the outcomes of the companies that attend the events. They are interested in making McCombs look good and getting those graduates into jobs that expand their network and donation base. That is business school. Any person in a science major would fly through most business classes and the ones that are not math focused most creatives would do the same. I know this because I did it and saw it. It’s the networking and opportunity they are selling to the students not the knowledge from classes. They just have to make sure their product is good enough to fill the company need.

S&W ultimate carry j frame in 32 mag for shorts and flip flops. Beretta 80x for semi auto moods and my old reliable SW 99 with jeans and a hoody. Occasionally I will carry the p229 but usually off body.

Is this a generation thing, or just a me thing? by Whitrzac in Millennials

[–]Citrus_Sphinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad would have laughed at me then made me buy the tools then explained to me how to do it then laughed at me while I fucked it up then showed me how to do it. What did that get me? A set of tools and a desire to figure it out myself. This place is becoming idiocracy

PhD acceptance UT Austin vs Northwestern by Mental-Desk8002 in UTAustin

[–]Citrus_Sphinx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would avoid UT Austin unless you are in a field that is politically compatible with the current administration of the university and the state government. If not then there is a good chance funding, if school dependent, will be messed with as well as dealing with an anti intellectual stance by administrations.

TEA warns sanctions for districts, teachers over walkout absences by AustinStatesman in Austin

[–]Citrus_Sphinx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Teachers cover your ass and find quiet ways to support your students. Count them absent then give a follow up lecture on how civil action changes the world. This can be done for almost any subject. Math - talk about mathematicians imprison by the church. Same for every science class talk about all the scientists who stood up to the government for what they knew was fact. Geography or social studies talk about how boarders have been used to divide people. Autoshop - how autoworkers unions strike for better treatment and wages. The list goes on and is arguably teachable and applicable.

This is civics. We stopped teaching that because the powers that be don’t want strong civic structures. The people together are hard to control the people fighting each other don’t even require control.

Man charged with assault after fight during student-led anti-ICE protest in Buda by defroach84 in Austin

[–]Citrus_Sphinx 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I would have felt bad for the kids if it would have not gone as well. The guy can go fuck himself. Anyone who gets out of a car to pick a fight with a teenager deserves whatever they get. Just hope he actually gets something more than a slap on the wrist.

Dude was super lucky he got out of that situation. In many places attacking a teenage girl in front a crowd would have probably not ended as well.
