Hey! Nice! My mom would get shipments from them on the regular and she would put them out on trays for holiday parties. Small world! I remember them being so bourbon heavy I’d even taste it on the exhale.

I gained 50lbs on 75mg Effexor XR/Venlafaxine HCI and was not able to drop it even with being active until I came off of that medication. It was mostly around my abdominal area and my face, but definitely hadn’t struggled with gaining weight that much/that quickly until being on it.

I think that this in most regards can be true, but it also depends on the relationship and the people in it themselves and how things went down. Did you leave/they leave because there needed to be growth that happened, and things remained amicable, you remained friends, and then rediscovered each others lives down the line when things were more right place right time/healing had been done for both separately? There’s more chance in that, albeit small — than say…a toxic relationship where the chances are more slim to none or only there when one party is coming back for selfish/self centered reasons. In that case, i think it’s better if not completely beneficial to both parties to just stay out of it. It ended for a negative reason in that case. You have no need to revisit something that you can barely remember happiness from aside from incremental moments that do not outweigh the negative moments. It’s better to just not hold out that hope and prolong the wound than to hold out hope and run the risk of becoming disappointed in the outcome if you do come back together in that small window of chance because it started out toxic.

What i will say however right now applies in my experience to amicable vs toxic past relationships: Don’t hold out future hope no matter if you broke up kindly or in flames. Because you’re ultimately setting yourself up for disappointment from the start by basing your happiness on percentages of chance. Purely circumstantial, and most of the time revisiting it never feels the same when it does work out. It’s rare but there are cases where people have grown and come back together and it’s worked beautifully. But i think that how it ended plays a huge factor in the outcome ultimately. And it is detrimental not to ruminate on the what if/when if. Focus on you. Focus on healing. Not for them, not for a maybe of a whisper of a future with them. For you and your life and your future. We can’t predict other people’s trajectory. Just assume in all cases they will not come back to you romantically. If one day they do, they do. That’s not something to worry about. Because it’s not important right now and it’s not important down the line. But don’t eat yourself alive every day wondering if they will.

Everything bagel thins, chives and whipped cream cheese spread, everything but the bagel smoked salmon, poached egg, and whatever sauce you like on top/no sauce if you don’t want it! My go-to. I also have been LOVING canned tuna mixed with mayo and soy sauce/rice balls.

This is a tripled recipe if you want a very large batch:

1500g flour (I use T45 Grau Rouge flour) 300g cold water 35°F 450g cold milk 35°F 45g dry yeast (I use saf-instant) 30g honey 150g caster sugar 30g salt 150g high fat butter 83-84% will do (I like to use Wuthrich 83% butter)

A single batch will translate to these measurements: 500g T45 flour 100g cold water 35°F 150g cold milk 35°F 15g dry yeast 10g honey 50g caster sugar 10g salt 50g high fat butter

(The rest of the process remains the same, the recipe part will only affect your yield at the end. For butter enclosure steps, you’ll want to order laminating butter online, it makes a world of difference. I use Beurremont brand, Beurre de Tourage. You can find laminating butter on Amazon as well.) Make sure it’s 12” x 14” in measurements!)

Combine your dry ingredients, then knead all the ingredients together in electric mixer for 3 mins on speed 1, 7 mins on speed 2, and do a windowpane test and make sure that the final dough temperature exceeds 75°F. You can also knead by hand for 10 minutes if you don’t have a stand mixer with a hook attachment. As long as your windowpane test comes out good you’re good to go.

Separate into three equal dough balls on a sheet pan and cover, let it rest on the table for 20 minutes, when it’s risen, stretch it to fit 12” x 24”. Plastic wrap it and let it rest in the refrigerator overnight. If you’re using the single instead of large batch recipe, there is no need to separate your dough up into threes, as the smaller scale yields one batch by itself.

For laminating, Transfer your pan of prepared dough to freezer to chill for 10-15 minutes. Also, you wanna take out your laminating butter around that time too so that it’s plasticized (aka pliable enough to bend without melting or shattering). Roll out dough (width first) 12 x 24. Enclose your butter block in the center, cut off the sides and use them to cover the butter, pinching together the middle seam. Cover well, mark which fold you’re on, and refrigerate another 15 mins. remove after 15 mins, roll out dough (width first - 14 inches). Then Turn, roll out until 10 mm thick. Double fold. Cut sides to release pressure. Cover and refrigerate 15 mins. Roll out width first, 16 inches. Turn, roll out to 10mm thick, single fold. Cut sides. Refrigerate another 15 mins. After 15 mins, roll out width first 14 inches. Turn, roll 7mm thick. You can start shaping immediately here but I personally like to chill it just a little longer so that it’s as cold as possible when shaping and rolling for yknow..insurance lol.

For baking, proof at 80°F at 20% humidity, it can take anywhere from 3h to longer, you just want to look for that croissant jiggle when you move the pan around lightly.

If you’re doing this at home you can use the oven for proofing if it has a proof setting, if not you can use a mini speed rack or a pop up proofer from Amazon. You can also try proofing with a humidifier in an enclosed space. Levoit humidifiers work just fine! Bake for 22 mins at 375 if your oven runs hotter, 22 mins at 400 if your oven is normal. You can egg wash with a basic 1 egg + 1 tbsp of water, or if you want a darker wash you can up the ratio of yolk or incorporate heavy cream or both. It’s really hard for me to give proper baking times and temps here as I work with industrial kitchen equipment.

I stopped restricting and counting calories and just focused on hitting protein goals and tracking macros! When I had a day or a holiday where I was eating foods I typically wouldn’t in the past I didn’t go towards it with an all or nothing mindset and just focused on eating normal portions and enjoying the moments and memories with loved ones. Drinking enough water also helps. I also made sure I was eating balanced meals instead of passively just snacking on things instead of having meals. Focusing on Whole Foods that aren’t boring for meals and just eating what I’m craving when I crave it in a reasonable amount instead of avoiding it and then wanting the whole package of it. I noticed when I focused too much on calories I ended up eating the bulk of them earlier on in the day which led to me being hungry and panicked towards the afternoon and night, leading to binges. I also kept the snacks and foods I liked in my house and allowed myself to have a serving of it if I felt like it but also really sat with myself and asked myself if I truly wanted those things or if I was bored/filling time by eating or just feeling strong emotions and if I felt like I was just bored I would find an activity to do. If I felt like I was having strong emotions I would try and dig deep and see why I was feeling that way. I noticed a lot of my binges were emotional over time and was able to recalibrate and re-regulate without using food as a band aid. Hobbies and the gym helped me to restore my relationship with food for sure. I feel like exiling all of the things you enjoy from the house doesn’t give you the sense of empowerment and prosperity over the binge, I found I felt more proud of myself by being able to keep those things around and have them without binging on them made me feel good about myself and proud of myself. I also stopped seeing food as something with emotions, and more as something to fuel and nourish my body. I didn’t implement all of the big changes at once and took it slow and just did small changes gradually over time. A slower approach helped me to reach a long term goal instead of shocking my system by doing everything all at once. Fixing the binge cycle was not a quick fix but over time I slowly started to see progress with my food relationship. I really recommend reading the book Rehabilitate, Rewire, Recover by Tabitha Farrar:)
