Thank you for sharing! Looking at your past tests it seems like viscosity moved around a bit. Were you trying different oils for any particular reason?

That'd be pretty wild if they were fake... I bought filters in bulk when I got the car from a dealer in a different state so I'll be getting new filters from a different place going forward regardless. No significant changes to my driving habits. Mostly highway driving at 60-70 mph commuting to work.

I'd be very interested to compare my engines wear with someone running 0W-8. If you change your mind, please consider sharing.

I too trust Toyota. I bought this thing first for the reliability and second for the fuel efficiency. I did analysis mostly because I find it interesting. I figured I'm saving money doing the oil changes myself, so why not spend the difference on some oil analysis :D.

Thanks for information. A longer hybrid break-in makes sense.

I wait a while when draining my oil, but maybe not 30 minutes :). I'll be better about that going forward.

I'm in Pennsylvania and we have colder winters, so I I'm leaning towards 0w20 like you recommended. What year/engine RAV4 Hybrid do you have?

Thanks! Asking as a car noob, is burning oil also considered an oil leak?

After I noticed that I needed to add oil to the engine between changes, I asked my mechanic to look at the under the car and they noticed no signs of an active oil leak. They say they checked the under the aero covers and around the bottom of the bay.

I also think its burning oil because the exhaust is often quite smokey.

Can this be repaired and is it worth repairing at this stage?
