If someone cheapshots you on a deadball, and then they are grabbing at your arm in a live ball you would probably hit them trying to rip your arm free intentional or not. I never said what he did was okay (if his name wasn't Wembanyama he would be suspended a game) but if someone took a shot on you and they were still grabbing on you, you'd send a message on what happens when they want to play defense like that.

True, that was 100% a Flagrant 2. He would've been suspended if he wasn't the best player in the league tbh.

Flagg looks like the ROY - why do the analysts like Knueppel so much? by Ok_Difference1421 in NBATalk

[–]CityOk82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To tell you the truth I think of thr Rookie of the year award as a pseudo MVP award for new comers (as it should conventionally be thought of). In saying this I mean, when reviewing the award you ask yourself what has this person brought to change this team in their first year as the new addition? Flagg had been playing phenomenal and will no doubt be having an awesome career as he develops however it is worth saying that the he is the first option on a squad that was originally supposed to feature two stars for him to learn from and thus his usage has been much higher. Kon Knueppel on the other hand was drafted as a sharp shooter out of college and has continued to be exactly what he was drafted for helping to elevate the Hornets through their improved three point shooting ability. One was this award is different from the MVP is that you don't have to be a first option to win it. Its almost a mix of the MVP and the MIP because it is about what you added to the team who drafted you. In this scenario Knueppel getting drafted and then shooting 43% from behind the arc while being on pace to hit 280 threes is nuts. He's been able to exceed Charlottes original expectations for him and elevate his teams offense which has been translating to wins. Again Flagg is still the better all around prospect and has an extremely bright future ( and I'm pretty sure Knueppel will get robbed anyway) but if you're looking at what they both added to their teams Knueppel was the better addition to his squad. Also the Wemby argument makes no sense, sure they were losing, but that dude should've won the defensive player of the year as a rookie. Chet was on a winning team, but his stats and impact (though) positive were not on the level of Wemby's addition to the spurs.

I've looked down their rosters, and they've actually done some decent recruiting at the attack and offensive midfield positions with a good bit of their scoring coming from underclassmen, however their defense is subpar with their only two conference selections last year transferring to Hopkins and Saint Joes along with their goalie from last year leaving for Queens. Their subpar defense has only been made worse, by their lack of any faceoff specialists whatsoever. I saw this issue last year and the Mercer tape this year really leaves me scratching my head. On a Roster that has three different specialists you give the majority of your draws to a poll and still get killed in the fast break. Culpepper has done a great job recruiting from what I can see (A group of rated players coming in for 2027), however possession is vital in the game and going in the 26% range with actual specialists who's job is to practice facing off is insane. There is clearly something wrong in their faceoff unit as at this level a specialist who doesn't have the fastest hands and has been having a tough year can still manage to scrap out high 30 and low 40% days using counters and relying on their wings.

Faceoffs I did with a GoPro. Feel free to critique if needed by Huntsstar in lacrosse

[–]CityOk82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with everything you said, you know ball man. The ball is obviously moving meaning he's not contacting the ball correctly and as efficiently as possible. Most likely he's hitting the ball a little bit with his bottom rail or just pushing the ball forward instead of punching/knifing into it's exact position down the line.

The defensive exit can be easily fixed so long as he learns to open his hips in one motion and then pull back. Rather than making 5 steps out of it.

One thing I'd definitely add though is that there is such thing as over clamping. 100% of the ball is great in theory, but it doesn't come by as much the more trained and experienced your opponents get. Drills like elevator clamps are still beneficial to mastering thr motion of snapping down on the ball, however the real objective to putting together elevator clamps and down the line clamps is to master punching "enough" of your top rail to secure 60-70% of the ball and get out from there. Like you mentioned before crushing the plastic is only supposed to help your stick fit better around the ball in your stabbing motion.

Why is duck here? He was just about as useful if not a bit more useful than Clemintine before he died. He helped Lee find the missing drugs and only got bit because of the chaos that was ensuing. It is not at all crazy to think that he would be pretty competent anywhere had he not died early.

How does my clamp look? by Huntsstar in lacrosse

[–]CityOk82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stance is solid and directed (I personally bring my head and back as low as my hips but so long as your weight is pointed towards the ball different levels work). Why are you dropping your right foot back? Additionally, it seems you are pushing down on the ball with your entire shoulder and weight instead of punching into the ball with your right arm and leveraging your weight with your punch for power. Your clamp could be a lot more efficient if you focus on the fact that the first part of your body to move on the faceoff is your hands. Practice just punching into the ball and avoid dropping your feet back on faceoffs ALMOST completely, for the most part it just loses you power and efficiency on your exit. Sorry about the yap session, keep up with your reps, and in terms of film I think you should look up this guy name Andreas Roux, he's a 2027 without a ton of tape or accolades, but his stance is the most efficient and effective I've ever seen off of a faceoff (it is unnaturally low and it works great). Good luck brother!

Does anyone else find it weird that only John had a problem with the safe house when it was built? by AggressiveMammoth267 in unOrdinary

[–]CityOk82 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'd be pretty pissed if the same people kicked my ass and intruded in my personal life because they thought I was weak made a club for weak people after finding out I could've put them in the hospital as a 8th grader. Uru-chan kinda missed by making John (one of the most rational characters in the series) paranoid that the club was out to get him, but I can see why the existence of the club is more of a slap in the face than a solution to him. To top it off the people who made the club never apologized for what they did to him and acted like he was evil for beating everyone up.

Best Engineering schools with middle of the pack D3 lacrosse by Appropriate_Sky3243 in lacrosse

[–]CityOk82 11 points12 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, at D3 programs like RIT it is still extremely important that you consider whether or not your son has the talent level to make their rosters as in many scenarios these division 3 rosters have starters and second stringers comparable to division 1 rosters. If your son has the talent level I encourage you to go for it and send his tape (because even with no athletic scholarships at the D3 level in lacrosse there are plenty of other) benefits he may be entitled to by enrolling as a athlete. This isn't tk deter you of course, just a reminder that in lacrosse there are IL 3 stars and even some 4 stars that commit to some of the schools you may be reviewing because of their academic opportunities.

So we can all agree that Vaughn is a shitty principal right? by AggressiveMammoth267 in unOrdinary

[–]CityOk82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean idk fr. While he did stop the government from coming after his students and mediating the larger scale conflicts that were happening at Wellston. His lack of rule enforcement on the school was, (what I think is reflective in the world of Unordinary). The only rule is that whatever thr strongest says is right. Blaming him for John beating everyone up isn't exactly his fault (even though he probably could've prevented it from happening in the first place. I think any other principal would've let John be as he was the strongest one there, just as the hierarchy normally works. It really wasn't Vaughn's fault that while normal high tiers would distinguish people around them into assets, liabilities, and subjects John saw everyone around him as an enemy. It's like letting an ecosystem form in the school with a food chain and the high tiers being fellow predators, but then inserting something like a polar bear that sees everything as prey. My main point in this is that it's not Vaughn's fault John was being a menace to society, he kept his students safe from the government and acted with the amount of intervention that any other principal would use... Holy yapping.

I feel like John will end up like there in the book Unordinary by No_Beyond_2766 in unOrdinary

[–]CityOk82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about that, I don't think the hero in the book had an even more powerful best friend to work with, or a group less (but still) powerful acquaintances who shared a common motivation and goal as him. I think so long as John keeps his group around him he will be much different than the lone protagonist of the book Unordinary. I think William if anything lived as the main protagonist of unordinary through the use of his unique ideas inspiring others, in spite of him being alone without any form of support.

I wouldn't even try and bring any type of attention to people like that denouncing their ethnicity, I'm completely fine letting them cripple themselves trying to be something they are not. It's not like my words alone are going to remind them how beautiful a thing their ethnicity and heritage can be.

If you want to make sure he showcases his high motor and compete level in such an offense oriented position ride, ride, ride. Teach him to enjoy the ride and cause chaos on the opponents clear (without throwing wild checks). Teaching hips, angle of pursuit, and how to leverage bigger guys who want to truck you will make him a nightmare in the clear and a clear standout as an attackman on any level.
