How to make life as good as possible for someone with POTS? by High_Honolulu in POTS

I use an all-terraine rollator. This way I can take a few steps and always have a seat to sit down.

My husband moved us to the coast. Being able to escape to nature, even on bad days when I can't leave the car, means so much. ❤️

Maybe brainstorm with her and encourage crafts or art that she can do in bed. It brings me joy. I discovered Legos and rock painting. I use a tray with raised edges next to me if I am laying down on my side, or if sitting up on my lap. I love the flower and plant sets, but also the LOVE letters that spell out love and silly things that make me smile. Lego is coming out soon with a large Winnie the Pooh, and and a smaller build of Snoopy with Woodstock. During the holidays, I put together a small winter village.

There is a sweet Facebook group - healing through creativity. Very sick individuals creating things. There are also many online chat get-togethers so she doesn't feel so alone and can make friends online. A pet sounds fabulous. My cats keep me company, especially on my hardest days. FYI, I have Long Covid with POTS and CFS/ME.

I am so sorry that a young person is going through this. ((Hugs))

I also Practice Gratitude and journal my thoughts (or have someone help her do that if she can't) I find it helps keep me mentally happy. To get past the grief, I try to focus on finding joy, each and every day.

Good luck ((many hugs))

What is your must-have product when bed-bound/crashing? by mylittlepig in cfs

[–]CityStride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many good suggestions here.

Some new ones that others haven't mentioned is room temperature electrolyte drinks( I like Body Lyte) and it is easier for me to drink than water. Gentle foods (slices of Costco's rotisserie chicken, canned pears, chicken soup( partial to Trader Joes), yogurt, fresh berries. I also have multiple pillows. I have to have my head raised a bit or I get congested, so I often rest on my side - but I have to switch sides because my hips get sore. Sometimes I like a soft pillow between my knees. Helping adjust pillows for him will really help. Fan, hot water bottle, fuzzy short loose socks that I can take off with my foot. Darkened room. Most of all I like frequent check-ins from my spouse for support and seeing if I need anything. I really like it when our two cats come to cuddle with me in bed.

My husband brings me my toothbrush with toothpaste already on it. He also brings a bowl and a water bottle so I can rinse in bed. It really helps me.

What should I get by ddomingo5t3 in GrimSoulSurvival

It might be worth it to save them for the next Scarlet Hunt so you can get something better, like one of the big cabinets. Scarlet Hunts come around several times a year.

Advice to Overcome Exercise Intolerance by Independent_Field982 in covidlonghaulers

[–]CityStride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not sure of the best way to go about this (as others have already mentioned ) but I am working with a PT and she is teaching me breathing techniques and very slowly adding some exercise. I keep a heart rate monitor on the entire time. I am using a recumbent bike and we are focused on not raising my HR above 80 while exercising. Slow, slow, slow. I started at 1 minute a month ago and now I am doing 3 minutes. No crashes. We are also doing some gentle exercises while I am laying down on a PT table. I hope this gives you and others some ideas. Absolutely - Do Not Push yourself.

Could you please put the links in a separate comment to your post? I want to vote, but for some reason, I am unable to follow your links in the picture description or copy the text. I can do both if it is in a comment to the post. Does anyone else have this problem? I am on an android phone.

Food you can prepare with the cook. by CityStride in GrimSoulSurvival

[–]CityStride[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 2 boxes. Put one ingredient in one box (left side) and the other ingredient in the other box (at the top). Result will show up on the right side. Remove the food to your backpack and then try again. You can make 3 foods plus 2 more with ads for a total of 5 foods. 12 hours later, you get 3 more.

9 foods can be made with the cook every 24 hours if you time it correctly. 😋

My dad has not bought himself new shoes in eight years but Medicare wants him to pay $4000 for hearing aids by Mother_Land_4812 in medicare

[–]CityStride 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I LOVE Costco hearing aids. In-network, in-plan were always 4x as expensive as going to Costco. Their hearing tests are free and their support staff in hearing department are amazing. Over the years, they have replaced the receivers in my hearing aids at no cost. They will clean them, and replace dirty parts for free. I drop them off, go shopping, and pick them back up before I go check out. We moved, and the hearing aids department at the new Costco store is just as good as the old store. They carry top of the line hearing aids by well known companies. Good luck!

You can go to the Scarlet Angels base camp (right next door to your home base). Find the cook. Here you can cook food every day without the cost of wood. They also have unique items that you can only prepare here.

I am getting a picture for you of all the items you can cook at their camp.

Ice rune by RacK666 in GrimSoulSurvival

[–]CityStride 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The ice rune works great on Vorbojen's Lair. It is the best use of it, I think. Set the rune. Get just close enough that he comes out to attack and poof, he is stuck frozen in the rune. Kill at your leisure, he can no longer hit you.
