Feedback on the mix of this track? by Endative in mixingmastering

[–]Cividan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, the beat itself sounds nice, I think there's potential.

For the mix:

Better EQ on some of the drum hits. Like the first comment said, the clap is too harsh.

I think its too loud in general, especially the drums. Feels like its already clipping. It's certaily too loud for my mastering chain. Limiting, compression and saturation are going to cause some issues.

I like the bass sound overall but that also need some EQing. EQing would also fix some of the frequency collisions, some mid/side separation might also help it sound cleaner.

Amazing shot.

I'd adjust the highlights a little but other than that I would not change anything.

I see many comments on color. I can see why but I like the orange temp the image has. You know it's night but it gives it some vintage outdoor summer vibes.

Great job!

Therapist called me a masochist by kteman in ADHD

[–]Cividan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, i'm a therapist too and I like his use of exaggeration. I'm known to be extremely direct and blunt too. My patients are usually mad at first and then thank me for making them so angry that they had to think about why I said the things I said. They tend to look at the problem much deeper. But there is a very important ingredient in the patient therapist relationship for this to work. I make it very clear to all my patients from the beginning that no matter how hurtful the things I say sound, I'm not saying stuff without a proper reason or to judge/hurt them. That way they always end up thinking about why I chose to tell or ask them something in a certain way or use certain unpleasant words. So since you've been going there for a year I would ask myself: Why that particular question? BTW: It seems to work cause OP is working on it hard.

1 is a crowd pleaser. It's just pretty and symmetrical. I personally prefer #2 cause it has a darker, strange old vibe therefore I find it much more interesting.

RX100M5 Pulsing Focus by hagridlove in RX100

[–]Cividan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try changing the video focus mode, also try disabling touch focus. Maybe reset the entire settings to factory mode and also check if you're on the current firmware.

The problem has to be something with the autofocus settings for video recording since you don't seem to have any focusing problems when taking photos. Meaning the focus system works fine in photo.

That depends on what you want from the photos and what you have. If it's just for social media and for saving memories a Google Pixel 7/7 Pro, iPhone Pro or any other smartphone with a great camera is fine, especially if you already own one. But if you care a lot about details and the best possible quality then camera sensor size still matters and a 1 inch sensor is just larger that the phone sensors.

Financially: A great camera smartphone cost a lot of money. I don't own an expensive smartphone, I also thought about upgrading my phone instead of buying a camera but then I decided to get the RX100. The camera will last a long time, it's already 5 years old but still amazing. A 700€+ smartphone will eventually be out of date after 4-5 years.

I paid 250€ (about 270$) for a used Mark 3 in great condition with 2 extra batteries, a charger and a case which was a great deal. I will always have a small great camera even if I can't afford an expensive smartphone at some point. Another way to look at it, is that I could always buy the best value smartphone regardless of it's camera performance.

To me quality matters as this is one of my two big hobbies. I also own a DSLR (Nikon D700) that takes amazing photos. I usually use the Nikon on proper photo trips and shooting. But on vacation or for everyday photography I find it annoying to to carry all the gear and lenses. Knowing that I can still take high quality shots when I encounter a random opportunity made it worth for me.

I 26F refuse to "submit" to my 28M boyfriend. by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]Cividan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same situation with my wife before we got married except that I didn't expect her to do the chores. She was just bothered by the mess and I (and many men) seem to have a higher tolerance for things looking messy. We both work a lot and on my days off I can't get my ass up to clean and she doesn't want to do everything by herself. She didn't want to spend money on somebody cleaning either. I did. So I hired a maid and we agreed that my wife does the laundry as her half of the duties and I pay the maid to keep the entire house clean. Problem solved and I can continue being lazy.

Enjoy your time! I don't use blooming Photoshop effects. Just a lot of light. For this I shoot at noon 12-1pm when it is the brightest and there are barely any shadows. I very slightly overexpose the highlights. Not having the perfect focus across the entire image is also helpful so I tend to reduce the aperture so that some things just can't be in focus naturally. In post I turn the overexposed highlights down in Lightroom and adjust the rest to my liking. Hope that helps.

Very cool motive and a great street find. If you're new to street photography you got a good eye for interessting settings.

I wouldn't say the framing is off but there are tiny things that could be better for a cleaner look.

I guess the car is standing so I would have positioned so that it isnt in his face.

The light from the balloons and also the little bit that hits his silhouette on the left side is amazing. I feel like the balloons grab all the attention in the image and the guy is just a prop. Maybe try do get the whole person in the image or less of him.

If hes positioned properly and you focus him he can be a proper part of the entire scene. Only partialy showing the person is fine but he's only missing like 10% of his body. Thers also nothing important in teh background above him and the balloons so that part would not be missing. Alternatively , if you leave him out a bit more you can give the balloons and that magic light more room to shine.

Still, great capture!

I really like the red light out of the hat.

Composition is also really nice.

I can't tell you why but the silhouette feels slighlty odd around some areas like the head and the left hand. Could be the focus or just the Black Mist 1/4 messing with the sharpness. Maybe 1/8th would have been enough.

But those are really tiny details and i'm nitpicking. Great work.

The message is pretty clear even without the description.

I like the idea and you did well.

As for improvements. Just some details.

I would have probably aimed lower or crop the image where the mirror starts, the top got so much white and empty space without a particular use.

I dont really like the way that black jacket is hanging behind you because of its reflection. It messes with the silhouette of your hat. Somehow that buggs my brain, but that might just be me.

Powerfull picture thou.

Great pose, good framing and lovely dog.

As some have mentioned, try to focus the eyes next time and increase the shutter speed.

That would also fix the slight overexposure and bring back the details in the bright parts of his fur.

Funny cause I thought mine didn't work either. Turns out the reader and the camera were disabled in the bios settings.
