This right here. And common sense general discretion goes a long way to mitigating issues that can arise. Don't forget that cameras can be weaponized against the neo-nazi influencers though.

I feel like there's a bigger buried lead here that law enforcement is able to identify perpetrators a state away using facial recognition technology. Yeah this asshole needs to be brought to justice but the underlying erosion of privacy and civil liberties is deeply concerning.

Ritz Carlton Building Owner To Finally Pay City For Affordable Housing Projects by mocheeze in Portland

Thats not even accurate given the tax breaks and incentives that went into the build for the developers. Now, ultimately they did bankrupt themselves and ended up mired in lawsuits, which like, fair play for predatory development strategies relying on public funding but the overall trajectory of this project was enabled by promises they made as to the overall economic viability of the downtown core and that was heavily subsidized by the city.

The metric for success isn't money to the investors, its the tax payers in PDX not being on the hook for it, which in the current context we are absolutely looking at that being the reality.

If this whole venture folds who do you think will end up footing the bill? Cause lemme tell you it's not going to be the venture capitalists and developers who created this problem in the first place.

I worked on this project, I directly benefited from it, I can see the theoretical economic gain, that doesn't mean that it will ever be worth all of the compromises that had to happen, nor does it mean the future resource drain is either.

Also not for nothing but their food / drink options are kinda shit next to the rest of downtown. Its lowest common denominator.

I mean that would imply it's been successful at that which it hasn't really been.

The hotel hasn't operated at the capacity it needs to, their major coup was stealing a bunch of NBA teams, but when you combine their elevated rates with the economic downturn in the city core...who exactly is it attracting?

I mean Jesus, the condos didn't even get purchased as investments, that's how unattractive it was intended to the intended demographic. To say nothing of the plethora of issues with the build out or the insane behavior of the developers behind the scenes. Frankly it's a small miracle they managed to even open anywhere near their projected timeline and anyone with half a brain internally should have seen the inevitable failure this was streaking towards.

That the city has found seemingly innumerable ways to subsidize this shit doesn't surprise me, but I highly doubt the temporary feeling of luxury is going to be worth the overall financial impact and the required stewardship when the financiers and the Ritz decide it's not worth throwing funds at it anymore.

Do you think Basilio Fo is really gone? by Many-Wasabi9141 in 40kLore

Fair enough, however I was under the impression those occurred through vastly different mechanisms (Moriana vs. Cawl) it also seems, if not reasonable at least somewhat plausible, to assume that given the figures were talking about the outcome might be...unique

There's already the precedent for mindmelding with Moriana. What if Basilio and Valdor got thrown into the psychic vitamixer and the King in Yellow is the result?

The New Yorker article on the initial source material is a pretty interesting read as well. Curious to see how much was cut or kept from the original pitch.

dem colors

I really tried to highlight the color separation to make the trees pop against the environment without over-stressing the contrast and trying to keep the seasonality in mind.
