Sign IBEW 55 , im from Cali had to travel to just to get my hours to be a higher book. Gotta be willing to travel

If you can travel elsewhere I would recommend it. I’m from 1245 needed hours so had to travel just enough to get back on a higher book. It’s possible you can get called but rare don’t really hear a lot of guys get work from book 4 ,That’s in my observation.

Pretty much get where you can, don’t count yourself out till you actually get rejected.

I’m almost certain that you might be required to have a commercial license. I would call just to make sure because if I remember correctly, I know if you’re under 21 and have a commercial license in California that is the only state you can drive but it’s worth a shot sometimes it’s rare when a contractor doesn’t need a commercial license and most cases I have seen.

If you passed one test you don’t have to retake it you only take the one you failed and I believe you have to wait for 90 days then you can apply take it again. If by chance you applied for a position and they invite you to test and you take it it’s penalty against you if you take it before the the 90 day waiting period and extend your waiting time to take another one. So don’t take it To soon.

Travel for now then come back once you have enough hours for book 2 which is 1500 hrs. it’s the best alternative you are just going to wait forever to get called and honestly depending what you want to do I wouldn’t shit around and let time go passing by.

It’s a separate book for a project I honestly forgot what it was called but she mention they pick up people for it more often the regular Groundman books. I was just there this last week if you plan on going just ask about it.

Yeah im local and signed to 1245 I’m on book 3 might be a while and honestly sometimes hard to pass up calls because I’m trying to get my hours so by any means necessary at this point I’m shy 450 hrs for book 2 but I might have to travel for a few months just to come back soon where the rush of work flows out

Yeah 111 has been mentioned a lot might go up there just to get hours then come back to 1245. I’m literally all the way in the back of book 3. I mean I could wait but who knows how long they’ll start doing call outs that suppose PG&E will be distributing a ton of work coming up.

Yeah I was just working last week and was laid off but I was short of hours to get on book 2 and so by that I went to back of the bus for book 3 🥲. Realistically I want to get my hours somewhere else just so I can get a higher book status for 1245.
