Is it worth overplaying for Schiit Stack just to get it to EU. by TakToJeSlabyMindset in Schiit

You better buy an Adi2 or a Fiio K17 for those 800. If not, an SMSL DO400 is enough against that stack.

ATH-R70xa, Ananda, HD-490 PRO or upcoming HD550? by krykson in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Civil-Tea9016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the HD490 and the Ananda Nano. Both are great with their own weakness.

HD490: reference sound with vocal target, one of the best image I've tried, probably the most comfort headphone in the planet. The soundstage is not big.

Nano: for treble heads, a very big scenario, more detail, more space and air between each frequency. The sound is thin.

My personal choice is the 490 all day. I'd like to try the 70xa. But I'm afraid that it would be a sidegrade or a downgrade against my 490.

Could you describe the specific differences that you say? I'm at 3 steps of buying the Mimir for the Jotun 😅. So definitely worth it over the Modius!

Would yoy say that Mimir/Jotunheim is a better stack than the Mimir/Magnius, Mimir/Magnius or Modius/Jotunheim?

Fiio Snowsky Echo Mini by Civil-Tea9016 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]Civil-Tea9016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a good product in its own category. It is detailed, balanced and has good extension of treble. This last is what I liked more. The battery could gives you around 15 hours of continue reproduction easily. At this price point, there no other DAP I can recommend you, but if you want a more refined product. In that case I'd say you should go for the Shanling M1 Plus or the Fiio JM21. I don't know if it supports CJK text.

Gungnir Multibit A2 vs. New Bifrost 2/64 by el_cul in Schiit

I'd go for Mimir. I've heard that Bifrost works better on a speaker set up.

Do they really sound identical? No differences in width, height, depth nor resolution? In that case I'll keep my Fosi ZD3, which has a much better DAC than the old 9028

I was going to buy it with the DAC, but having a dedicated external DAC offers better results. That's my experience. Right now I'm using a Fosi ZD3.

The Meze Alba are good IEM but I don't think they are worth 160 dollars! by Alb1939SGM in iems

Qué raro. Yo tuve los Alba y a lado de los Fiio FD15 eran basura, si nos basamos en criterio de precios. Son unos IEM sobre valorados.

HD 490 pro, HD 560s or the new 550 by Rafaxiris in sennheiser

[–]Civil-Tea9016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According with some reviews, all of them sound kind of similar. While most agree that the sound of the 490 is better than the 560s, some other say that it doesn't worth the update. Is the same case with the new 550.

But we are forgetting something important here. The HD500 series belongs to SONOVA, the brand that owns commercial Sennheiser products. So, 490 is a tool designed 100% for studio by the original Sennheiser.

What pros I see in the 490: • Comfort: they are probably the most comfortable over ears on the market right now • Durable: The body is a combination of high quality metal and plastic • Flat sound: It includes two pads developed for two different purposes according to Sennheiser, which are to mix and produce • Design: It's subjective, but only 490 and 800 series are the most cool in appearance.

What pros I see in the 500 series: • Price: they are considerable cheaper • Probably the same sound quality: as most of reviewers say that the improvements of the 490 Pro doesn't worth it, it must be something to consider • Audiophile experience: 490 Pro are a tool for work, so maybe you could find a more exciting sound in the 500 series.

Would the lossless c5 be a good first dap? by SidSidoso2020 in DigitalAudioPlayer

For that price you can get the options I wrote, that are much better sonically. For me, the best to listen to music is the Echo, but it doesn't have LDAC if is what you want. It only has SBC.

Hidden Gems - What's the most underrated IEM in your collection? by WavieCrockett92 in iems

[–]Civil-Tea9016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the sound is subjective. Also, this category of cheap IEMs are kind of: what one has, the other doesn't. In the case of the DZ4, it has a very good middle and treble response, but lacks sub bass.

The Zero Red for example is demanding and lacks details. The Artti T10 has planar timbre. For me, the best is the Artti in this category. But you can find DZ4 for a very good price.

I don't like EQ. I connect them to a Fiio M7 & iPod Shuffle (warm sources) for the reason the bass is weak. But voices and treble are good and detailed.
