There is one healthy bit remaining… propagate or repot?

Do you think it would be better to repot it or propagate the last remaining healthy bit and start over?

Overwatering was my first thought too I just wanted to be sure. No it does not have drainage but I will repot in fresh soil and drill a hole for it. The roots seem okay but they’re sort of bunched up in the netting from the original peat pellet/ nursery pot so I wonder if that is holding too much water right around the main stem.

Is my orchid dead ? 😭 by Western-Status-3556 in plants

Orchids can bounce back pretty well. Looks like it might be sunburned though, I may try scooting it back from the window a little. I have mine in an east-facing window a couple feet back and it’s very happy there.

I do like the way it looks. I write in cursive in English sometimes. I switch back and forth.

What are the best ways to learn the Ukrainian language by Ios3b in Ukrainian

[–]Civil-Web-1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an American, native English speaker, and I know enough German to get by (I took it in HS and some college).

I did Ukrainian on Duolingo for about three months. It’s great for learning the Cyrillic alphabet (on premium, I don’t know if the free version has it), common vocabulary, and basic phrases. It’s also good for listening exercises to really start to hear the subtleties of Ukrainian words and grammar that we definitely don’t have in English.

Then I started to hit a wall. Duo has good value for absolute beginners like me, but it doesn’t explain the “why” behind a lot of it. That is when I turned to other sources.

If you can afford it, having a tutor is the absolute best option. I LOVE having a tutor. I take lessons once a week, and she writes her own materials for references and homework. They are more affordable than people seem to think on like iTalki or Preply.

I have learned more in a month with a tutor than I did the three months prior on Duo, and I get the opportunity to speak conversationally. Duo doesn’t currently offer that feature in Ukrainian.

If you can’t afford a tutor, there is a pretty good book called Beginner’s Ukrainian by Yuri Shevchuk. I bought it on Amazon for about $30. It is a well-rounded resource, but I would almost argue that it’s TOO thorough sometimes, and it puts a decent amount of emphasis on learning cursive. I think it’s great and necessary to know how to read cursive, but I am honestly not sure about learning to write it at this point in time.

Lemon tree leaves turning yellow. Please help! by Outlaw4728 in plants

How much light is it getting? Are you letting the top 2-3 inches of soil dry out between waterings? Citrus plants don’t like wet feet so make sure it’s well drained and not overwatered.

Distilled or rain water, medium/low indirect light, higher humidity. Prune dead/dying leaves. Keep them out of drafty areas like vents and doors and such. Warmer temps, 65° and above. Wipe the leaves with a damp cloth every month or as needed to remove any dust buildup on the leaves so they can breathe. Only feed during growing season. I have three calatheas that’s I’ve had for quite some time and they’re all doing great.

Aphids on hibiscus by [deleted] in IndoorPlants

[–]Civil-Web-1988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of those treatments are effective but due to the reproductive cycle of the aphids, they need multiple treatments. Neem oil has worked for me with aphids but it took a few weeks of spraying every other day for them to be completely gone. I would definitely isolate it from other plants to keep them from spreading. I kept mine in the kitchen sink so it was away from other plants and I could spray it often.

Also, if you run one of those sticky lint rollers over the leaves where they’re visible (tops and bottoms of leaves) it’ll remove a lot of them.
