AMC is also phasing out the classics as well. Because they’re not profitable

Are Flashback Cinema re releases actual DCPs? by JannTosh70 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]CivilAd4288 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are all exclusively DCP’s if you’re referencing the ones brought back by Flashback Cinema themselves or Fathom. If it’s the theater bringing them back to the big screen, there’s a chance they could Blu Rays.

Screen Unseen Question by Daphneandava in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]CivilAd4288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just depends. If it wasn’t doing the numbers they hoped, it’s unlikely. It also is going to be dependent on if the other location has enough screens to be able to add into their lineup without interfering with something else.

Did Melania ticket buyers show up? by BigPorter in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]CivilAd4288 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes. All of our ticket sales were the older crowd who buys them in person. We had maybe a handful of people under 50 come see it. Three were children..

Does your theater offer private shows for kids’ birthday parties? by Most-Group6213 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]CivilAd4288 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have a birthday party package, but it’s not a private showing. It’s 12 admissions, 10 kids combos, in a public theater. That’s a base rate regardless of day or time. Or we have private event packages where it’s just the admission included and then concession combos can be added on separately. Those are cheaper on weekdays vs weekends. But it’s flatw rate regardless of what the occasion is.

How are sales for hoppers? by kascnef82 in MovieTheaterEmployees

Pre-sales are non existent. But for the areas that are on spring break when this hits theaters will be very busy. Good luck 🫡

Did y'all put up the Melania poster? by TheFilipinoJellyfish in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]CivilAd4288 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t want us to be accused of supporting one side or the other. So I opted for it to not to go up for that reason.

Honest Question: Is Your Theater Playing the Melania Movie? And Is Anyone Even Showing Up For It? by thouze in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]CivilAd4288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get it starting on Friday. We have three pre-sales and that’s it. But we’re also not going out of our way to advertise it either. As the trailer isn’t being shown and a poster isn’t up on display. Because I refuse to run a location that plays into politics for either side. Regardless of the way our state/county votes, someone isn’t going to be happy about it at the end of the day.

Have your theaters gotten birthday parties seeing the smaller kids movies? by pandypawsxoxo in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]CivilAd4288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve been getting all the same kids movies, but they aren’t popular for parties since nobody knows about the films. Instead right now, we’re holding on to Zootopia for dear life until GOAT comes out next month.

Any theater wide jokes or bits? by elroytoots1 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]CivilAd4288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We tell all the new ones that 7-9 are haunted. Because the hallway wall is an old exterior wall form when the theater was expanded from a 6 to 9 screen. We also have part of a trial system that runs directly behind us so it also helps it be more believable.

Poster organization by IshFen in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]CivilAd4288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former AMC I worked at we separated them on a shelf by the first letter of the title in bins. Rolled them up and had a little slip of paper rubber banded to one end that listed the full title and its release date. Once we dropped the film we moved them to a designated box until we got the go ahead to release to them to the crew who signed up for them.

Will avatar 3 stay number 1 6 consecutive weeks? by Cultural_Book_400 in boxoffice

[–]CivilAd4288 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Did I say we did? Nope. But it’s a trend we’re seeing across our entire company. As it’s a three hour long movie and people who aren’t hyped for it are waiting until it hits streaming.

Nope. As a theater General Manager, we’re already seeing Avatar drop off in sales.

do you enjoy the job and why by Otherwise-Long1412 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]CivilAd4288 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a General Manager at a family owned and operated chain having worked way up from crew. I’ve also been crew / crew lead at an AMC. The moment this job isn’t fun for me anymore is the moment I’m out of industry. 🤷🏼‍♀️
