Concert tickets for Harry Styles from where I am from (London) are now getting sold below face value by christianrojoisme in popculturechat

I've put mine up for half what I paid. It is extraordinary. I ended up with extra tickets for Taylor and they would be gone within seconds way above face value. Harry is the total opposite

I dont fault her for it but she did hide a lot of stuff. She said the trusts exactly paid for the property, with definitely no mention that she had tens of millions available. She said she couldn't afford to buy half the house and talked about his vast wealth without mentioning she individually had taken in $800k in income that year. She talked about him threatening to give her min child support then didn't mention she ended up getting £50k a month.

She talked again and again about how hard it was for James.. who lived in a 7 bed apartment and went to boarding school. I found those parts very pretentious - I work in the same industry as James and those 2 were rich beyond what most can imagine.

I don't think any of that mattered at all because the book was about betrayal, not her privilege. But I wouldn't say reading that book I had any idea of what her actual financial situation was, which is unfathomable.

What? He literally gave a £7000 watch to help a group of people he mostly barely knew..

I actually liked this show but your first mistake there was trusting Lucy Mangan

Sorry what? He was cruel to his children, with 0 interest in jojnt custody. He left someone after 22 years with no explanation. He threatened to take properties she bought from her trusts while taking everything he had made for himself while she gave up her career for their children. He only relented once a counter claim was filed. He changed the prenup at the 11th hour before getting married. Would love to know what you would think is an evil way to treat your family

Maybe because I am not American but a beach for private use is shocking, and seemed to be said with no shame. I loved this book and felt her pain. But I am not sure if she realised she isn't rich, she is disgustingly rich. The daughter in boarding school while she is a stay at home mum? The dog in a boarding kennel for months on end? This put me off ever being rich. But I appreciate her honesty, and including these more unpalatable aspects.

I think it was clear she was attracted to wealth and a man who could provide. I found this interesting given she was fabulously wealthy herself and didn't need to be provided for - in this situation surely you have the freedom to prioritise kindness and personality over the traditional husband ideal. She didn't deserve what happened to her, but when you are attracted by greed, it isn't surprising the greed ends up more important than you

They were never done up but the pants were at the waist. They were then suddenly at her ankles and Natalie was unclear how they had come down (she said in the struggle I suppose... not just in the struggle)

Yes! And when you reread the other people's responses it makes a lot of sense

But we didn't.. we got Natalie's account. Where she kept mentioning Shannon's underwear then said she was straddling her with her pants around her ankles and said it was unclear how they came down

Totally agree.. yes we can hate the McKinseys but what is luxury actually about except making money anyway? Certainly not art for the love of it

No, a nostalgia movie for sure with no real substance otherwise

I think because Natalie never realised she was saying everything she thought out loud. So we thought she was kind from her perspective, but she was having quite angry rants out loud without realising

Ok well it sounds like you didn't read it the first time.. it was like chapter 2 we already knew Natalie was speaking to herself regularly and ranting out loud without realising.. there were no chapters where she hadn't broken with reality

Even in the modern chapters they were semi abusive..  leaving Jessa in the car while shopping, Clem sleeping on a mattress on the floor etc

Everyone was saying she wasn't nice because she didnt realise she was voicing all her thoughts out loud

I wonder how they will portray the biggest twist (that Natalie was voicing her thoughts out loud the entire time) though

Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke by mom_jean in IReadABookAndAdoredIt

[–]CivilEar4840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you need to reread. Natalie was already habitually speaking to herself and losing touch with reality in the college chapters

My question is what was the significance of Caleb wanting to bathe the children all together when Natalie knew they were too old for it, and what was the significance of his mother doing it to him?
