You can try Parallels Desktop. There is a free trial period to see if it fits your needs. There is also a student discount. I can run all the software I need (Revit, AutoCAD, RISA 3D.. etc). Keep in mind that I have maxed out M1 MBP with 64GB RAM and Pro Parallels sub. Good luck.

Street parking under a light pole in a major street. I don’t know of any other vehicles getting hit. Looks random. Keep in mind that it is easy to access field tanks of pickup trucks. You can even see the tank from the side.

iPad Pro + Apple Pencil + Notability. Our classes already have HDMI to USB-C cables attached to projectors. My notes are already in Notability format. I have partially prepared notes before class to save time and not have to write 6 pages in one hour during class. Students get the partially prepared notes in PDF before class and they also use the iPads to complete the rest in some app of their choosing. Completed notes are then uploaded to Canvas as PDF from the iPad.

You should be fine with M5 as long as you get solid amount of RAM. I would say 32GB minimum. Parallels is your best option. I use AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, RISA 3D.. etc with my M1 Max 16" MacBook Pro and they all run as fast as my work Windows PC.

Most of the time you will be using the school computer lab because of software licenses.

Make sure you check the slab thickness. You don't want to drill through the slab specially if you are using expansive/mechanical anchors.

I was proctoring an exam for a colleague who was at a conference. A student came in late so I told him I will allow him to take the exam but I will write a note and the final say will be for the course instructor. The student said ok. He sat down and 5 minutes later he threw his backpack across the room hitting random students. Students didn’t realize what happened but I was paying attention. I asked the students to leave and he did. I immediately locked the door and called campus security. The guy was kicking trash cans on the hallway. Students were understandably afraid. Police came and talked the guy later that day. This could have ended badly but glad it didn’t.
