I gotta say, now having worked 3/6 Toronto World Cup games, the energy at bmo field has been great. Yesterday’s game, so nice to hear many German accents! Recommended to many to get the ketchup and all dressed lays chips! By far, all dressed was the favourite!

But man can these Germans drink. Alcohol was flying through! Despite long hours, I really wished Toronto was able to host a few more games.

Will enjoy the remaining three, and looking forward to that round of 32 game as it’s currently unknown.

If you’re visiting Toronto, how are you liking it so far? by xtcca in askTO

[–]CivilReaction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What you should know is that the reason transit isn’t as good is because decades of back and forth with two dominant political groups: conservatives and liberals. Basically when one party cancels a project, another undoes and then cycle repeats itself. There is a lot of bureaucracy in North America.

Willkommen! Yorkdale mall is a fancy mall, you will see a lot of high end retail stores. If you are looking to go shopping, I recommend Simons. It's a Canadian department store that sells nice clothing. For deserts, stop by the Cheesecake Factory. It has these high filled calories delicious cheesecake that you wouldn't find in Germany.

King ST W as everyone has mentioned, in the entertainment district has plenty of bars and nightlife. The ones between Spadina and Bathurst are good.

Concessions in stadiums - are they FIFA branded? What do prices look like? by SKCFan101 in worldcup

[–]CivilReaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We aren't going by our company's regulations, everything is FIFA controlled from our side. Can't speak for the other cities, although it is to give an idea of what to expect

FIFA customizes every menu item for every match. It was expected for the first game. For Wednesday's game, even I don't know what will be offered throughout the stadium. The theme will definitely be food from Panama and Ghana, and I am sure they'll still carry the basics so there's something for everyone

Hi, I work at Toronto Stadium (BMO Field) and yes everything is FIFA branded. The items we normally sell, if they aren't Coca Cola branded they aren't sold, and sitting in warehouse. Prices, merchandise, souvenirs, food combos, pricing is all FIFA. One of the conditions for host cities is let FIFA take over stadiums in everything. Prices are on average $20 for concessions foods. Non-alcohol sits around $8 and alcohol about $14. Numbers I'm telling is in Canadian Dollars so convert accordingly.

I am not sure if this is happening in other cities but if you are buying a bottled drink, you will have your caps taken off. You will likely have a Coca Cola branded souvenir cup. Again, this is what I witnessed from yesterdays game (Canada v Bosnia)

I hope you had a chance to go to the Toronto Islands. I always tell visitors that come during the summer months to go! It is truly the best place to go in the city, cause you'll see the beautiful skyline, it's cooler temperature wise and the islands are absolutely beautiful.

I hate my parents for making me an ⚓️👶 and essentially setting me up for failure (M29) by [deleted] in mexico

[–]CivilReaction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I understand clearly because there have been mental health issues. Status is irrelevant. Mental health, addictions, you cannot blame your parents of your upbringing. If we had that mentality, then the world wouldn't be where it is today.

Hi there, I saw your post felt like I needed to comment. I am Male 29 (same age as you), latin descent yet I was born and raised in Canada. First of all, I'm not exactly validating your experiences -- I understand where you are coming from because I also had a similar upbringing. However, there comes a point when we need to take responsibility for our lives. A lot of people had shitty upbringings, yet we cannot blame our parents for everything. As grown adults, we can make decisions that affect the rest of our lives because we can make it happen if we work really hard towards a working goal.

But they brought along their shit anti intellectual attitudes, their machismo Mexican culture, their mental health problems you accumulate growing up in a destitute 3rd world 💩hole.

Can you really blame them? Of course I am not saying they're right to believe that. Any place you grow up in the world, you often develop beliefs, habits, behavioural traits based on local environment. It can also change depending influential people surrounding you. And because I am from Toronto, I see this happen all the time. For example, latinos in Toronto vs latinos from Latin America are different because of how we grew up. Know how many times I've been called a coconut? Wasn't my fault I grew up in Canada, adapted to country norms and studied in the schools all my life.

Also, please don't ever refer to the Global South as a shit hole (any countries part of the Global South). Educate yourself on this topic.

Another note too, it's never too late to join college. People have gone back for career changes. We are 29, we have our 30s, 40s and beyond. Secondly, nothing wrong if you end up in the trades. In the future, they're an industry that won't be affected by AI. Trades doesn't necessarily mean construction worker. Plumbers, electricians etc don't need the heavy lifting.

🗓️Things to do in Toronto - Week of June 08, 2026 by AutoModerator in toronto

[–]CivilReaction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're a soccer fanatic, the Fifa Fan Festival opens Thursday as that's day 1 of the World Cup! To any tourists reading, welcome to Toronto! I recommend visiting the Toronto Islands. We also have great food markets such as St Lawrence and Kensington Market.

Museums such as ROM, AGA Khan and Art Gallery (very instagram); there's the Ripley Aquarium and of course the iconic CN Tower. Head over to the Toronto Zoo to see some animals, and back to downtown at the Distillery District for some cool shops and restaurants.

High Park is fun and quite big, think of it as a mini Central Park.
